The deck remained untouched, although it was neatly stacked before her. Shun had interlocked her fingers and was resting on her elbows as she watched the various dancers before her. It was a most illuminating sight, to say the least. At least one couple in particular. A certain blonde had taken to dancing rather intimately with a teal haired individual.
Shun recalled that the blonde in question had insinuated quite a few strong feelings for the magician when they had met in the catacombs. 'Some people move on quickly, don't they?' she mused to herself. It was something she would remember for later.
"Ah, and to think I had a fan." she spoke aloud as a small smirk appeared on her face. Well, if that was the way things tood...Shun was hardly one to raise objections. As she recalled, she spent quite a bit of time flirting, herself. The question had always been in how serious the other girls took it.
This was going to have to be one that she would have to write off. Where Kakura's affections were directed were clear. Shun looked down at her cards and picked them up. She hadn't touched them in a little while and felt a few more shuffles would make for good practice.

While the awkward dance the two first years were performing was sweet in it's own way, Cecilia just kept worrying about the eyes that were undoubtedly on them. While it was true she could dance, she wasn't really comfortable with it. Especially with a crowd like this. She glanced around uncomfortably, only to (yet again) have her eyes shoot straight back to Ubu in confusion. Why on EARTH would anyone be jealous of her? Fortunately, she was saved the trouble of asking why when she managed to piece it together in her head.
The rest of what Ubu said had the general effect of making her blush (which hadn't fully gone away) intensify and her heart pound. This girl, no, Ubu really thought she was pretty. That thought brought a smile onto her face and she moved slightly closer to the girl… only to accidentally step on her dance partner's foot. "I-I'm sorry!" she cried quickly, the smile dissolving almost instantly as she tried to head off any negative comments, with little hope that she would succeed. "I'm s-sorry… A-And you're very pretty too, Ubu-san" Her heart beat faster yet again as she spoke the last bit.

It was generally assumed by Ubu that she got to do stuff with the most awesomely interesting people on Astraea Hill. There was no other way to describe how great it was to be able to adventure with a one eyed American who could see sounds, a really nice girl with very soft hair, a runaway Egyptian princess and this girl who was from Sweden and had such a unique and pretty appearance. Ubu was living life to its fullest with a bunch of neat girls who made every day a heaping amount of fun to experience. Not totally oblivious, she noticed how much Cece was blusing and wondered why that might be. Not like Ubu had said anything that would embarass the girl after all. Unless she wasn't used to being complimented on her appearance. That was a ridiculous idea to Ubu since she thought Cece was pretty and all her features made her stand out wonderfully.
So why was it that Cece wouldn't be used to being complimented? Maybe she just hadn't met a lot of people, because Ubu thought anyone would notice the beauty of the girl's appearance. This indicated a cloistered life in addition to being of Nordic origin, which set her imagination to work. Sheltered and Nordic. Likely there was a meaning behind that which Ubu had yet to consider, but could explain Cece's reaction. A light pressure on her toes broke Ubu out of that reverie, though it took a moment to realize Cece had stepped on her foot. At the girl's apology Ubu shook her head and kept grinning as usual. Not a big deal at all since neither of them knew how to dance very well and mistakes were to be expected.
"Nah, it's okay Cece-chan, we're both making this up as we go along. Besides my feet are pretty durable so you don't need to worry about them," the silvernette assured the girl before blinking in surprise at the other part, "Wait, pretty? Me? You really think so, huh?"
Ubu thought about it, scratched her head, then nodded, "Okay, I can handle that. Thanks for the compliment Cece-chan, you're very sweet to say that. Though you can call me Ubu-chan instead of Ubu-san, you know. Much more friendly that way.. so, can you speak any other languages? I know Japanese and English, but French is.. well, better not mentioned at all."

It had always been strange when people were nice to her. Cecilia had never really known how to act when that happened, and this whole situation was no exception. She had no idea what was supposed to say, especially when her dance parter merely brushed off the (in her mind) serious mistake she'd committed. That is to say, stepping on Ubu's toes by accident. After years of having every mistake she made blown far out of proportion, she naturally assumed it would be a major error.
She didn't know how to handle Ubu. Ubu thought she was pretty and didn't mind her poor dancing skills. Ubu had simply come up to her and asked to be her friend. People just didn't act this way around Cecilia normally. People didn't normally find her fascinating and want to know more about her. She was actually starting to wonder if maybe Astraea would be different than the other schools she'd been at.
She nodded silently when Ubu seemed surprised that Cecilia had called her pretty (she was, and wasn't that what you were supposed to do when someone called you pretty?), and wondered why she had seemed so surprised. "I-I, we-well, I s-speak English as well as Swedish… b-but my Japanese isn't that good…" Her blush would just NOT go away, and she looked down nervously (and a little confused- why was her heart beating so fast? Was she going to have a seizure?) as the music came to a stop.
She slipped out of Ubu's hands and looked around uncomfortably, and couldn't see where Kanako-oneesama had gone to. That made her rather nervous- after all, she was only here because Kanako-oneesama had asked her to come. "T-thank you for the dance, Ubu-chan." The honorifics were probably the part she was worst at, truth be told. She still wasn't comfortable or familiar with all the nuances of when to use them. "U-uhm, w-would you mind if w-we went over t-to the re-refreshments?" If nothing else, she did need a drink of water.

Boy this Swedish girl was getting more interesting with every question she answered wasn't she? Being a pretty, unique looking girl from Sweden who'd traveled around a lot was now enhanced by the fact that she was actually really good with languages. Ubu could manage nearly as many as the albino but somehow the other girl's linguistic talents far exceeded her own. This was all Ubu's perspective on things, of course. That didn't stop her from shaking her head at Cece's insistence that she wasn't very good with Japanese. Such a statement was completely untrue since they were having a great conversation in the language after all.
"What're you talking about Cece-chan, your Japanese is great! I'm really jealous of how many languages you can speak too. It's really neat that you can communicate in three languages, most people have trouble with one or two. But if you like," Ubu assured her, then winked and began speaking her British-accented English, "We can talk in English as well. I have no idea where I learned to speak it but I think it's okay, maybe passable. Actually I have to study.. ugh... French, but I don't like it at all. It's evil."
When Cece let go of the silvernette's hands it was clear she was out of her element and uncomfortable on the dance floor. Instead of pushing for another dance or something Ubu just went with the flow and agreed to go to the refreshment table with her new friend. Of course she held out her arm for the girl to take, practically insisting on Cece taking it. With the influx of girls onto the dance floor it was important to ensure her partner didn't get lost in the crowd. With how uncomfortable she looked it wouldn't do her any good to get trapped there. Once they were near the refreshments she grinned to Cece and tapped the brim of her fedora in a salute of sorts.
"Here we are, Cece-chan! Plenty of drinks still left so they shouldn't have run out of anything," the silvernette promised as she snagged another cup of the purple stuff and offered it, "Try this one, it's really tasty. And it's purple!"
That's when she spotted another girl who looked familiar, realizing she was holding a deck of cards. Ubu's eyes went wide as she realized this might be some kind of magician since she had that in hand. Either that or she was a card dealer. No, magician sounded better. She nudged Cece a moment later and was grinning even more widely.
"Hey.. I think that girl's a magician or a wizard or something... this is such a cool night!" she said in a low, conspiratorial tone.

Sometimes, all it took was a look. A faint hint of recognition. Shun's idle thoughts were swept aside when a pair of first years caught her eye. The silver haired one seemed most intrigued by LeRim's resident magician. Her pale companion also provided a quick look. It was more than enough for Shun to collect her cards and glide on over.
Approaching the two, she removed her hat and gave a sweeping bow to the two girls. "My dear ladies, I am Sando Shun, a pleasure to be making your acquaintance on this fine evening." she introduced herself, her one visible pink eye scanning her present audience of two. The pale girl was dressed rather appropriately for the evening, while her silver-haired friend appeared...less conventional. Not that she objected. Shun was hardly conventional, herself.
She rose back to her full height and placed the top hat back on her head. Now, the question was what to do first. Card tricks seemed like a good place to start. But, there were always other tricks she could try. They would get to that later.
"And how are you finding the Ball? Well, I hope."

They had the small crowd's attention without question. Such was the oddness and range of acting skills that they had an audience for what would normally just be a quirky Eriko moment. The redhead really didn't know how she wanted to follow up that which had attracted that audience though. Actually Yuwa was having a hard time too; Eriko could hear just the tiniest hint of a near laugh in the older girl's voice. Now was the time to bring things to a proper conclusion. Eriko was feeling so warm and fuzzy, doki doki really, snuggling up to Yuwa that she needed some alone time. Yuwa also pretty much hinted that having some would be nice. "Big finale, Lily-oneesama," she whispered first, doing her best not to move or hint at what came next. Then she jerked her hand, then her arm. Slowly she acted as if she were reanimating from the brainfreeze death, reaching out with her arms towards the now confused girls in their little audience. "Braaaaaiiins..." she groaned, starting to stand up and heading for the nearest girl. Some playfully screamed, others stared oddly, but most of them backed away. Even the consummate liar Eriko couldn't keep a straight face, ending up back on the couch next to Yuwa. There was a tiny little smile as she whispered, "Eriko's ready to go, Lily-oneesama.." As Eriko mentioned that it was the big finale, Yuwa nodded happily. She had opened one of her eyes slowly, as though peeking at Eriko and what she was doing and decided to play a game of monkey see, monkey do. She began to raise her arms likewise to Eriko. And she also began the chanting. "Braaaaiiinns....." She then exhaled and said it again, getting some of them to run away in mock horror. Or maybe it was actual horror? After all, no one else in Spica shared that distinctive long black hair that belonged to her. Well, it was whatever. They weren't of importance, what was of importance was the girl right in front of her on the couch. "Look at you whispering, do you have any ideas you little daredevil?" Yuwa began chuckling a bit, before blushing and realizing that she was the daredevil of the couple and that even now, that didn't change. She held her princess by her waist and began kissing her. Looking romantically in her eyes. "I want the whole world to see. To see just how beautiful my Eriko is and how strong our love is...."

About to leave? Wow, do they have that in commo-- wait, she's stuck. Damn. This place was stuffy, this dress was stuffy, this formality was stuffy, and this situation was dangerous. She was definitely tense, but it was only in how she carried her eyes across the room, one glance leading into another and constantly trying to spot things she should avoid.
"I think we should make the best of it." She said, the entire paragraph her writer just painstakingly came up with basically rendered invalid. "I don't know much about dancing but if its anything like drills for martial arts it won't be that hard. You in?" Nonchalantly, she offered a hand to the girl. The only noticeable thing that kept to what was previously said was that she tried very hard to mask the side of her face by tilting her head to that side- it wouldn't be noticed as much if it was closer to the dress.
And then what she just said and did clicked. Silly June, you're only as confident and charismatic as your writer happens to feel that day, and I'm writing this at 1:30 in the morning. Enjoy.
"Y-you know, if you don't mind. N-not that I was implying anything! Just we're friends and we're both here a-and it is kind of a dance..."

Pretending to be zombies on account of brainfreeze and kissing was only going to carry the couple so far. The girls that at first had backed away or otherwise reacted to the display had realized the scene was over or at least near over. With their audience dissipating a bit Eriko felt more comfortable to just let herself relax and let the evening wind on. This had all been her taking the lead so now it was time for gears to shift a bit. Yuwa kissing her whilst holding her close was just the ticket for that need. Of course their audience now was enthralled by the new scene that was playing out, rather than dispersing. Eriko was perfectly fine kissing in front of everyone, even though she was blushing at the bold move.
"That's fine, Lily-oneesama, but do you think maybe we could go somewhere more private. Eriko needs to spend some time in private with her wife, even though all of these people like to see us kiss for them," the redhead suggested, resting her head on the older girl's shoulder, "The milkshake brainfreeze has made Eriko a little sleepy, so she wants to go somewhere more.. intimate. This is what Eriko commands you to do."

The situation was deffinantly one that made Anzu nervous. All these people, all these social expectations. And she didn't feel like she was living up to any of them. She couldn't help but think that she didn't look nice enough, she wasn't acting good enough, friendly enough. Having met up with someone that she was familiar with and comfortable with (well, as comfortable as Anzu could be) had helped. At least a little. But then June offered to dance with her. Dance? How was that done? Anzu blinked down at the hand her friend reached out, trying to decide what to do. Every bit of her screamed to say no. Say you don't know you, or that you don't like dancing. Those are decent enough excuses right? "Um... I..." She wanted to say no, but instead she heard herself saying "O-Ok... But I should warn you, I... Don't know if I'm any good, and I don't even do martial arts. So I've got nothing going for me here."She immediately flinched at her words. Everything she said seemed to be ridiculous. To cover it up, she reached for Junes hand, hoping she didn't notice how her hand was trembling ever so slightly.

She was nervous? That made two of them. Thankfully June was on a mission, and that was to enjoy the night regardless of the risk. Of course, she did have to think about what Anzu would think of her if she saw...
What would happen? She would probably be repulsed by the marking. She wouldn't even have time to explain it to the girl. Would she even be willing to talk about it? It represented a lot more than it was. Or perhaps, she would want to see it. Perhaps the reveal of it would solidify their friendship more so. It was hard to know, though. She hadn't had any friends who weren't already aware of the mark. Most of them hadn't seen the lower marks, but the face mark was something most of her family knew of. So maybe trusting her so much with this would make it officially a friendship. She kept dancing the word friend around with Anzu but they were still roughly acquainted.
It was just then that she realized how she had stood there staring at Anzu, zoning into space and holding her hand. Thankfully during that period a song she thought she could lead for started.
"It can't be that hard. Just follow me." she said with a smile, motioning for Anzu to come into almost an embrace. Slow dances were not hard in fact, as they basically ended up turning into extended hugs that swayed to a slower beat.

This is what Eriko commands you to do." The hot and intense kiss between them was half on-the-spot, and half-planned. She wanted to show "the world" their love so that they'd have a much better chance at victory. Before, Yuwa wanted to become Etoile to "shove it" to Homura. But right now, she wants to make Eriko feel like a princess or a queen. Like she's the top of the world or her precious lover. Eh, why not both? Yuwa began giggling at her lover's request or rather, her order. She picked her lover up and let her rest on her back, winking at her and doing a paux-salute. "As you command, my princess." She then called her butler and asked him to park in front of the gate. With that done, she began walking to their dorm. The blizzard still blowing strong as the wind challenged these two lovers once more. Eventually though, they made it back to the Spica dorms. She walked inside Eriko's room and slid her on the bed softly. Yuwa then looked at her with a combination of her seductive eyes, and a look of kindness and warmth. "Gomen ne, were you cold?" Yuwa asked softly, then she sat down and softly slid her finger across Eriko's arm, tracing up to her lips as she whispered seductively. "How would you like to come to my mansion, just the two of us? I have alot of things planned and a special question to ask you. I want to ask you in total intimacy. So that you can feel secure in what your answer is."

Riding piggy-back took Eriko back to a special time in her life which had been truly innocent and playful. Her dad would give her rides like that, let her get a great vantage point for taking in the whole playing field wherever they went. Now that she was doing it with the first person in years to have ever made her feel so honest and playful again, it felt really special. Not even the cold sting of winter got her spirits down; if anything it merely emboldened her and shook the lethargy which had started overtaking her post-milkshake. The redhead looked back up at Yuwa with her usual emotionless expression as they got back inside elsewhere, finding that combination of emotion in the older girl's eyes like a warm coat to protect her against the winter. Things were still tough for her, people might still hurt her. But she trusted Yuwa totally and would let the girl whom she'd confessed to quite surprisingly into her heart. Only Yuwa.
"Eriko is fine, snow cannot penetrate her outer shell," Eriko responded succinctly to the older girl's concern, not even flinching when Yuwa whispered to her and traced her lips. A tint of rouge in her cheeks was the only hint that something was up, that she was at all affected by it. Yuwa would probably be able to notice it and help her be at ease, it'd happened before. It intensified when the dark haired girl asked if she'd like to go to Yuwa's home for some kind of private engagement. Since it was winter break there was no baseball practice coming up and there were no other events Eriko wanted to see. Given the choice between doing pretty much nothing on campus or going with Yuwa to a new place? Easy choice.
"Eriko would like to go to Lily-oneesama's home very much, especially if she can have a bowl of ice cream there. Revenge on cold dairy goods must be had regardless of the cost. We will triumph," Eriko responded in typically weird, monotone fashion, "So long as Lily-oneesama is not about to ask Eriko to sign with the Yomiuri Giants. That would be something Eriko cannot do.. if that is not the case, Eriko will go. Immediately. In warm, fuzzy pajamas."

A slow blush formed over Anzus cheeks as June seemed to stare at her. Had she noticed how ridiculous her words were? Was something out of place? She instinctively ran her other hand through her hair, smoothing it out. "J-June- san...?" She bit her lip nervously, for the first time her true shyness showing through her care- free mask. After the other girl seemed to come to her senses, she smiled slightly at her encouragement. "I'll try not to step on your feet, ok?"He felt extremely awkward stepping closer to June, and placing her hands on her shoulders. If she looked anything like what she felt, then it was indeed a terrible scene on her part. Still, she smiled, trying to be confident. How long had it been since she had allowed anyone to get this close, physically and emotionally? After loosing her mother, Anzu had promised herself not to get that close to anyone again; close enough to destroy her. She had had acquaintances, of course. But never anyone she could consider an actual friend. Like June. And that made her extremely nervous. Still, she had come this far; no way to back out now.

It wasn't really hard to see June wasn't her A game tonight.. Never mind bringing it, she just wasn't close. Sure she was stable in her motions and sure she was light on her feet. And yeah, it was kind of a nervous thing to be holding someone's body like this, let alone carrying a dance. But all of that could be forgiven if she wasn't so very painfully aware of how close Anzu was right now to her face. Makeup was good but it didn't cover indentation or bulging of the skin- just shaded it. Anyone this close would probably see something here- unless June was prepared for that and leaned her head forward, to bring Anzu out of eye contact with her.
It might have looked suspicious, but it was her best effort to hide it further. It was glaringly obvious that she was uncomfortable when people looked at her face, but maybe her motion would be taken wrong? Maybe Anzu would think-- oh no. She had to break that illusion too. It was either mask her face and give the impression that she was far too comfortable, or resume eye contact and hope for the best. June, why did you agree to do this?! Wait, it was your idea. Oh lord, that means nothing that happens here is anyone's fault but yours. Better just keep trying to distract.
Deciding the accidental gesture was too much, June pulled back and resumed eye contact.
"Sorry. Thought I saw my sister." She lied. Her motions continued, but it wasn't exactly what one would call an ideal dance. Her skin was rougher than it appeared on her hands, and just as well, she found herself forcing through a few senses being triggered. The music felt louder than before, and Anzu's hands were noticeably softer than her own, so much so that they didn't even need to touch hands to notice. The little details she picked up on normally were coming now, like the rhythm of their movement, the number of times each one of them took a full breath, and so on. Anzu was, by all accounts, far more feminine than she. If June were in a suit right now, this would be a lot more normal to see.
