Maiko was more used to giving out compliments than receiving them. Being told she auditioned quite well caused her to blush, it was more than she had hoped for. Considering she hadn't even meant to be auditioning at first, it was a surprise to be so approved of. The trick was over so quickly, too. She'd enjoyed herself a good deal, and thought she wouldn't mind at all helping Shun with other tricks.
Then she finally learned something else about the magician. She was a student at LeRim. Considering her unusual (but interesting) hobby, it wasn't that surprising. There were probably some things you couldn't get away with in magic tricks if you were at Miator. Maiko didn't have time to think too much about Shun, as the latter suddenly introduced the 'lovely lady' who'd assisted her. Again the blue haired girl blushed, hands folded in front again as she graciously bowed at the introduction. Her, lovely? It was pleasing to hear but not something she'd say about herself if questioned.
Straightening up, she looked bashfully over to Shun and asked, "Do you have any other plans this evening? I'd be happy to help you if you need it.."

"I would love to sing for you. Anything you want." The white haired girl smiled, gazing deeply into the other's lilac eyes. "You're so sweet, Acchan... I can't wait to hear that lovely voice of yours. I bet it's almost as pretty as you." She winked, giving the blonde a playful grin. Her words were soft, but the happiness laced within them was unmistakable. She really was excited to have such a wonderful opportunity. It wasn't every day that one could hear a future idol singing, after all. As the pair continued their dance, she couldn't help feeling like she was on cloud nine. Everything about this just felt so...right. Like she was exactly where she was meant to be. "So, Yuki-oneesama? Tell me about yourself." Now this caught her a bit off guard. She was still not quite used to opening up to anyone about herself, even if only to give a brief summary. Choosing her words carefully, she spoke. "Well... I also like to sing, although I'm probably not as good as you. I'm into martial arts and archery. I, uh, also like climbing trees and walking in the forest. I'm a bit of a nature fanatic..." She laughed sheepishly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Atsuko giggled. "Geez, Yuki, you're gonna make me blush." As they continued dancing, Atsuko felt extremely happy. It was relaxing, and she felt like she didn't have a care in the world. Except for the amazing girl dancing with her.
"Martial arts and archery, huh?" Atsuko blinked. "I guess I'll be careful to never make you mad. That's pretty scary. Forget ice princess, try ice demon." She winked at the girl, smiling happily. "I was just kidding. You're far too pretty to be a demon. Actually, you're more beautiful than even a princess. It's more like 'Yuki-chan, the incredible ice goddess.'"
The thing was, Acchan really did mean that. Yuki was the prettiest girl she's ever seen. "Hmm..." she said thoughtfully. "Maybe an angel. A snow angel." She smiled, giggling again. Suddenly, the music slowed down, becoming soft and romantic. Acchan blushed, looking at the ground. "Um, did you want to keep dancing? It's ok if you don't..." Atsuko had known this was going to come eventually, but still! She would probably make a fool of herself, and then Yuki wouldn't want to be her friend anymore.
But at the same time, she did want to dance with her. She felt like as long as she was with Yuki, everything would be okay. And besides, there was no one here that she'd rather dance with.
"Alright, let's dance!" Acchan said confidently, forgetting she had asked the other girl just moments ago. Cursing her height, the blonde placed her hands around Yuki's neck, but ended up blushing again due to their close proximity and the heat of the situation. "So, um, nature, right? Yeah, I like nature too. But I grew up near the city, so I wasn't exposed to alot of it...And to be honest, I've never climbed a tree." She was begining to relax now, since Yuki had this magical effect on her that made her happy, no matter what. "Just be careful when you do it," Atsuko continued. "After all, imagine what would happen if you fell asleep in a tree."

Aideen had no idea how she was going to find Alice in the crowded auditorium. Alis wasn't the only girl with red hair and who knew how she'd be wearing it. Everyone would have done something different. So Aideen had decided to mill about the crowds and hope Alice spotted her. Most of it was Aideen's fault. She'd wanted to surprise Alice with her dress and everything. Unfortunately, that meant that she had no idea what Alice was planning for her outfit.
She had finally, after many hours of planning, decided to wear a long dress, it was white, though with the slightest hint of pink, like a pearl. She had been nervous when choosing this particular one because it was strapless but Alice had always told her to be more bold. So here she was, being bold in the auditorium with no idea where her roommate was or what to do. If only she'd remembered to set up an exact meeting spot with Alice, she chided herself.
Aideen got a clue then. She decided to go get a drink when she saw red hair standing out in a black dress. There weren't many standing out that much and it certainly seemed like something Alice would do. She began to make her way over carefully, in case it wasn't Alice after all.

And I don't want you and I don't need you Don't bother to resist, or I'll beat you It's not your fault that you're always wrong The weak ones are there to justify the strongAlice saw the short crop of blond hair out of the corner of her eye, and she turned to see that, yes, it was the girl she was looking for. She smiled, but the smile left when she took her in fully. Alice couldn't believe it; the dress Aideen was wearing was simplistic at best, the sleeveless element adding only the smallest touch of originality. Other then that, there was nothing to accessorize it or make it personal. But Alice wasn't speechless because she disliked the outfit. Oh, no. She was speechless because, despite everything she could see wrong with it, Aideen was stunning. The redhead blinked once. Twice, trying to get her mind to work. But she couldn't seem to get over how pretty the other girl was. She cleared her throat and smiled again. She placed her cup down, stepped towards her and, taking her hand, said "Mon Cher, you put the stars to shame." For the first time, Alice said it genuinely; it wasn't a faulty compliment to hide disdain or to build up A relationship. It was a real compliment, and her eyes shone with pride at Aideen. Alice reached into the box and pulled out the corsage. "May I?" She asked before taking Aideens hand and slipping it onto her wrist. It went with the dress well. Aideen held her hand just a moment longer then what was necessary before letting her go. "Would you like to dance?" She said, waving towards the dance floor.

Aideen smiled, it was Alice and that was good. She'd been worried but it had all turned out ok. When Alice complimented her dress though, Aideen positively beamed. "Thank you Alice. I really hoped you would like it." She held out her hand and watched as Alice put the corsage onto her wrist. Was it her imagination or did Alice hold her hand differently than before. Aideen decided it was. Anything else was just silly.
"Thank you, Alice. It's beautiful. I'm sorry I didn't get you one from the shops. Though I probably couldn't have chosen one as nice." She gave a small, embarrassed smile. "But I'd love to dance with you Alice." Aideen hadn't actually learned how to dance, not in a ballroom setting at least. She took Alice's hand and led the way to the dance floor. She'd been to balls before and was anxious to see if she could match what she'd seen at the very least.

You make me feel out of my element, Like I'm walkin' on broken glass... Like my worlds spinnin' in slow motion, And you're movin' too fast...The handsome young woman straightened the white collar on her jacket. It was blue, with white trim and dark grey pants. Blue matched winter, right? Naomi worried a bit as she looked over herself again, a bit insecure; what kind if student council president would she be if he couldn't even follow the theme for the stupid ball? She sighed, running her hand through her violet hair, an stepped into the ballroom. The schools had done a fantastic job of decorating; everywhere white glittered, making everything seem coated in snow. Naomi looked around, seeking the flash of pink she so hoped to see. The Lulim Basketball star hadnt seen Kiwako since the earthquake, and was worried; she had been there, had run up to the school to help herd people out, but her friend had been nowhere to be found. Of course, being a Lulim student herself, it wasn't that odd that Kiwako wasn't there. But he fact that Nao hadn't seen her since made her nervous. So, tonight would be the first time they would meet again. Naomi had asked her to the dance, and to her joy the other girl had accepted. She smiled, remembering how long she had spent deciding what to wear, what to say. But who wouldn't do that for a friend, right? Naomi grinned as a girl came up to her and asked to dance. Normally, The young woman would have wi led and flirted like mad before accepting, but maybe because she was here for an actual partner, she withheld and simply graciously accepted the other girls invitation. Leading her into the floor and placing one hand on her waist, Naomi and the other girl revolved gracefully around to the music. Naomi smiled and laughed with her, but her attention was elsewhere. Afterwards, she gave a small bow and a gracious "thank you," she turned back to find Kiwi. Were you right, was I wrong Were you weak, was I strong, yeah Both of us broken Caught in a moment

"Oh, no other real plans." she replied, "A good magician does carry a trick or two up her sleeve, though."
She winked, playfully at the Miator girl. For an event like this, she would require approval that she was doubtful to attain in order to perform something truly grand. But, a few sleight of hand tricks here, a card trick there and would be more than satisfactory.
"Should I chance upon an opportunity that would require additional assistance, however, I will be certain to keep you in mind." promised the LeRim, "But please, my dearest Maiko-senpai, do not let me hold you back from enjoying yourself on this fine evening! Would you care to share a drink?"
With the trick over, the small audience had disbanded and the auditorium was receiving more students. Some had started to dance, already, others were off entertaining themselves in other capacities. Another opportunity would present itself, Shun didn't have much doubt in that. Perhaps when there was a break in the dancing....

◦ ◦ ◎ WINTER BALL ◎ ◦ ◦◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ Naomi had asked Kiwako to the Winter Ball, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered to go. What had compelled her to say yes in the first place? The pink-haired girl wasn't sure. It was something she imagined couples doing, going to the Ball together. She wanted that. Was she so desperate that even knowing that Naomi's flirting was superficial and meaningless, she wanted a taste of that elusive feeling she craved?
Was it so much to want to feel loved, even if it wasn't real?
But then came the earthquake. Maybe that was why she had agreed to Naomi's strange idea in the first place, but things had changed. Kiwako hadn't seen the student council president since the earthquake that devastated Miator. Despite the knowledge that Naomi was alright, Kiwako couldn't help but worry about the other girl. Surely, this was a test of the patience and ability of all members of the student council.
This would be the first time that the two girls had seen each other since the event that turned Astraea Hill upside down. Things would never be the same again. She had heard about the fire, during her new mother's time, but this was different. Historic Miator had fallen and it was up to Lulim and Spica to hold it up.
More than just that was different. Other things were changing as Kiwako wandered the room in search of Naomi. Surely, it shouldn't be this hard to find the popular Lulim president. Dark pink eyes scanned the room. She stood out in contrast against all the white. The long red dress was simple, but it drew attention to her. Her pink hair, usually tied up to the side, was left to curl down to her shoulders.
What changed wasn't her appearance, but the sharp pain that shot through her chest when her dark pink eyes fell over a flash of familiar purple hair that danced through the crowds with another girl. Kiwako took a breath. It was alright, it didn't matter. After all, she was only pretending to be loved. She knew it wasn't real. She could smile and wave as she caught Naomi's eye. Kiwako had spent her whole life pretending. Why should this night be any different?

"Martial arts and archery, huh? I guess I'll be careful to never make you mad. That's pretty scary. Forget ice princess, try ice demon. I was just kidding. You're far too pretty to be a demon. Actually, you're more beautiful than even a princess. It's more like 'Yuki-chan, the incredible ice goddess.'"The white haired girl couldn't help but laugh, though that last part did bring quite a deep blush to her cheeks. "Aw, I'd never hurt you Acchan. But if anyone ever gives you a hard time...you know who to call." She winked, giggling softly. "And I really appreciate the compliments... Though if anyone here is a goddess, it's you." She gave the blonde a coy smile. As the music slowly faded, a softer, more romantic song took its place. Yuki held her breath, wondering whether or not her blonde beauty would want to continue their dance. Her heart sunk a bit when Atsuko offered to leave the dance floor, but quickly perked up when she decided to stay moments later. And so the two began to dance. Yuki smiled warmly as the blonde's arms draped around her neck, gently snaking her own around her waist. She could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks at the closeness they now shared. Yet, surprisingly enough, she really didn't mind. At that moment, everything seemed just perfect. "So, um, nature, right? Yeah, I like nature too. But I grew up near the city, so I wasn't exposed to a lot of it...And to be honest, I've never climbed a tree. Just be careful when you do it. After all, imagine what would happen if you fell asleep in a tree." She smiled gently at the smaller girl's attempt to lift the awkwardness. "I grew up near the forest, so I was constantly out exploring. And believe it or not, I actually did fall asleep in a tree once. The results were, uh...unpleasant, to say the least." She laughed sheepishly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "It wasn't too bad, though. I got hurt a lot as a kid, so I was used to it. Heck, I still get hurt from time to time, even now. But getting to see everything from such a unique point of view..." Her voice softened, a small smile replacing her sheepish grin. "...makes it all worthwhile."

Nothing big sounded as if it were in the works on Shun's end of things, but that was just as well. A few card tricks here and there were certain to be enjoyable. Or maybe some other kind of illusion. Maiko didn't doubt that the magician would come up with something she wouldn't expect at all. Maybe that was the best trick of all - always keeping the audience on its toes. Never sure what you might pull out of your sleeve next.
"Oh, I didn't have any plans myself Sando-san. I merely intended to offer the occasional dance to girls who came without partners," the Miator girl explained matter-of-factly, "So I'd be delighted to share a drink with you. It's the least I can do to thank you for all the compliments you've been giving me this evening."
She was ready to allow the magician to lead the way or escort her to where the drinks awaited when her purse rattled. Blinking in surprise, but grinning at what it might mean, Maiko opened it and pulled her phone up. Maiko glanced at the display, seeing it wasn't a score update at all. Rather it was something from her mother. Something mentioning possible omiai with hand selected young gentlemen of good social standing. The tall girl's pleasant expression dropped off the face of the earth and was replaced by a saddened one.
"Why did it have to be right now?" she murmured to herself, then slipped the phone back in and looked to Shun. Maiko did her best to keep up a smile, "Sando-san, would you do the honor of leading the way?"

People like us we've gotta stick together Keep your head up, nothing lasts foreverA pair of purple eyes blinked around the room nervously, taking in the gorgeous decoration and the other students. Kagami wore a white gown with a white winter cape over her shoulders. The gown flared out at her hips, giving her the image of a princess in a ball gown. Why was she even here? The girl sat at a table off to the side, where others ignored her. She wasn't exactly unhappy about that; she had only showed up because, just like last year, Junko had insisted upon her presence. Kagami tapped her fingers on the table, feeling like she really shouldn't have come. She didn't have a date, and her sister was going to be busy actually being social to pay her any mind. She stood, resigned to leave. Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom

You make me feel out of my element, Like I'm walkin' on broken glass... Like my worlds spinnin' in slow motion, And you're movin' too fast...Naomi stood for a moment, then a second girl asked for the pleasure of dancing with her. She was about to accept when her eyes found the head of pink hair that she had searched for. A look of relief came over her face; she was alright. Kiwi was ok. Naomi went towards her, nearly knocking over the poor girl who wanted to dance, who looked after her, bewildered. It was quite rude, but Naomi didn't care right then. Not do she notice how Kiwis red dress stood out from the crowd, or how pretty she looked with her hair down. All she coul think was she's ok. When she reached Kiwako, she don't bother with formalities; she reached out and wrapped her arms around Kiwi, pulling her into a right brace. "Im so glad you're alright." She whispered. She pulled back, holding Kiwi by the shoulders. For once, Naomi's face wasn't flirty or humorous. Instead, it was serious; serious and full of relief. "I was so worried you had gotten hurt." The earthquake had been terrifying to everyone, especially those girls who had someone they cared about. Then Naomi smiled, trying to return to her normal, cheerful self. She dropped her hands from Kiwiws shoulders and placed one on her hip. "So, uh... How are you liking te party?" She winked. "We did pretty good, huh?" "You would look Belle no matter what you wore." The old Alice was back; the faulty compliments and false composure. She waved her hand dismisivly at Aideens apology. "there is no need to apologize, dear; i only thought it would compliment you." he smiled, then bent down and planted a rony kiss on Aideens cheek. "which it does. " Alice was surprised when Aideen took we hand, but she allowed herself to be lead to the dance floor. Immediately she wrapped one arm around Aideens waist, cupping her hand in the other. Alice, of course, knew how to dance; she stepped to the side, then the other to the music. She smiled down at Aideen as they danced. "I am ever so thrilled you agreed to come, Mon Cher. It wouldn't have been the same without you." She twirled Aideen around in a circle. "You are a wonderful dancer, Mon Cher." Not entirely true; Alice could tell that her partner had never had any training or practice in dancing. Still, she wanted to build up her confidence as much as she could.

There were so many girls in the auditorium now that picking one out of that crowd would've been hard. Things were considerably easier toward that end if you were taller than other girls. It was one way that being tall actually was a positive thing for Maiko. She glanced about the ball as she made her way over to the drinks with Shun, admiring all the different styles of formal wear she saw. Nothing so unconventional as Shun's tuxedo of course. One other girl caught her attention as well.
She sat alone off to the side in a cape and gown, watching everyone else around her. Soon she was standing and appeared to perhaps be about to leave. Even from a distance Maiko could identify her as Kagami. The Miator girl was torn about what to do; she was getting a drink with Shun, but Kagami looked uncomfortable. To come all this way to the dance then just turn around and leave was sad. Yet she didn't want to upset Shun either.
"I think I see someone who might want to join us for a drink. It's rather unorthodox, I know, but please excuse me for a moment, Sando-san," she apologized to the magician, then spun around in a blur of white and blue.
"Kagami-chan!" she called out loudly, waving both arms to get the girl's attention, "Over here!"
