It had only been a night since the dance practice and they had already scheduled a meeting today.
This left Jessie slightly nervous, not about seeing the girl but of possibly having to host her. She also was a bit embarrassed today had been her first day wearing her uniform. This had been the first for many years she could be girly, well dress girly that is. She found that once she got over the shock of it all she was rather excited, she wore the uniform with heals that laced across her ankles. They shined white and added height to her as well as a nice flow to her body.
She had tried to add something to her hair but nothing seemed to work, so a simple lace was tied to her neck a small bow was made, it would have to work. She laced a little red lip stick to her lips, only adding a faint color to them.
She had made her way to the rose garden stepping onto the make shift flooring , it made it easier to hold the tables even. The day was lovely spring day. A warm breeze fluttered through the air. Roses patterned around the area and intertwined between some of the tables.
She had just started and had finally gotten use to hosting. It was simpler then she thought a few sweet words handing tea cups to some lovely ladies. She wasn't as affectionate as some of the other host but it was her first day and she wasn't as known as others. Which also made it easier, she kept a eye out for the snowy spirit but so far nothing maybe she would be lucky and would get away with out hosting the elegant girl, not that she wouldn't want to but it would be a challenge in keeping her flirting with the other.

A warm spring breeze ruffled snowy ribbons of the spider's serpent-like hair as she made her way to the rose garden. About her knees swayed a white-gray skirt of two layers of long frills that was connected to long-sleeved dress. Branching from the high frilled collar of the dress was a frilly rounded pinafore adorned by a small black bow. From the pinafore came a dark gray loose vest that tied in the front that give her a slimmer look. The ribbon in the back had been left untied, half due to inability to, but it fortunately failed to supply any immodesty to the lolita outfit. It was one of Alice's favorite outfits, as well as one she had made by hand last fall.
Today would be the second meeting with that girl Jessie McKnight. She could pleasantly admit the first one just yesterday had gone well, and was curious as to what would transpire with this one. Of course, practice would have to wait for now, however. Jessie had stated she would be busy hosting for a while. Alice was kind of early too. Oh well. She had no qualms about waiting.
High, black, lace-up boots clacked quietly up to the entrance of the rose garden. Looking around, she noticed numerous tables brimming with an array of pretty girls and cups of fresh tea. Various hosts scurried around to these tables, tending to each girl rather affectionately. It seemed lively. Then blue orbs fell upon the pink haired girl she was searching for. She looked rather pretty in her uniform, heels, and - albeit faint - red lipstick. Though, Alice had to admit, the style did look a little odd compared to her boyish appearance. But she found her nice-looking nonetheless.
Not desiring to walk among the lively chatter upfront nor call out, she lingered back for a few moments beside a clump of small blossoming roses, adopting her signature pose to further analyze the scene. She'd chosen to wait for a moment when the girl wasn't busy. With her snowy white appearance, she was pretty easy to spot anyways.

Rose petals fluttered in the breeze every once in a while. She had finally finished visiting with a few young girls and bowed as she walked to get more tea for the next table when she saw the figure.
She gave a light smile grabbing a small tea pot and two English style cups she made her way holding the tray with one hand. Giving a light wave she got to the other snowy haired girl. " Hello , ms Alice I do hope I didn't keep you long ? "
So her luck had run out, she would have to host, after all she was still on the clock. " right this way, I found a table on the outer circle that seems to be a tad bit more privet."
Her heals clicked off of the floor as it hit the grass she stumbled a bit, still not use to heals she found her balence her other hand securing the tray of tea. Setting it down at the empty table hidden by crescent moon of roses, she pulled a chair for her new dance partner. "please have a seat ms Alice."
She waited for a response or action her free flowing hair found its place across her jaw and cheeks as she had lowed slightly to reach the chair, these heals gave her a tad to much height she noted.

It took a few moments, but it was not long until she had been spotted. Alice performed a brief curtsey upon recognition, tugging at the corner of her skirt with one arm stretched out to her side and leaving the other to rest at her chest.
"I arrived here but a moment ago." She reassured once she rose from her bow. Now that the girl was closer, she noticed the makeshift white bow of lace around her neck. It added a nice touch to her overall outfit.
The snowy white spider next found herself being lead to a table. She would have rather remained just standing there on the outskirts, but acknowledging that the girl was still working, she decided to just go along with it. Being around a lot of people wasn't really her cup of tea. Jessie seemed to stumble a little on the grass up ahead. Alice swept a hand out to steady her, but withdrew it once the girl found her balance. She herself had worn heels once or twice before, so she understood the difficulty they measured to walk in. Especially if you were tall.
True to Jessie's word, they soon arrived at a more or less private table surrounded by a shaped bushel of roses. This would do nicely. Spiders weren't very social creatures, after all, nor did they wish to be seen out in the open. Alice was no less the same. A chair was pulled out for her, and the snowy white widow offered a quiet verbal expression of gratitude before sitting. Thick frills from her dress spilled out over the sides of the chair in the silken cascade. She noticed the way the other girl's hair collected about her face when she bent down. It instilled a teasing desire to sweep it back behind an ear. A brief move that could be considered borderline flirtatious should she have executed it. She kept her hands down on her lap, however. Even kind of hidden by the roses, the white spider was still in public eye.
"Thank you, miss McKnight." She offered with a bow of her head. A mischievous glint edged into frozen blue orbs, and with a more or less softer tone, she added, "Also, may I so humbly say that you look rather lovely."
She couldn't help but let the half-flirtatious remark slip, though such was her nature. Adjusting a troublesome ribbon of her own hair, she wondered how the other would react.

As Alice sat her dress scattered across her lap, frilling at the edges. It was quite easy to move these chairs even when on grass so it only took a slight movement of the wrist to gently push Alice closer to the table. Jessie her self sat at first her legs were as if she wore pants, something she had caught a few times before. She fixed them to lay slightly to the side held close to one another.
She noted the other was quite lovely today, but unsure she should allow her self to say something, Alice didn't seem to like complements of that sort. Jessie decided it would be best left for later if it seemed right to say so, pouring some tea in both cups she glanced at Alice, and was surprized when the same thought had been switched and spoken. She had been called lovely.
She couldn't help but blush a bit, she thought that she hadn't been called lovely in a very long time. Her eyes betrayed her giving her face a slightly shocked looked.
"Thank you...b-but am I not the one to flatter you? "
A slight amused tone left her even when she was utterly embarrassed, though flattered. She then thought that her held in commit would indeed be found appropriate about now.
" And besides I am nothing compared to how lovely you look."
It came out a bit more rehearsed then she had meant it. Leading her to think she must be more nervous then she even predicted.

Alice offered another brief verbal statement of gratitude when her chair was pushed closer to the table. It appeared to have been easier to move than she thought. Watching Jessie sit, she noted that the girl originally sat a bit incorrectly for wearing a skirt. She guessed the girl didn't wear the girlish garment quite often. With her boyish look, even more so.
The compliment she had even elicited the start of a blush to form across the other's cheeks along with a slightly shocked look. The snowy spider for once let a single chuckle of amusement escape her throat at the sight of it. Would it be possible to make her blush as bright as her intriguing pink hair? The thought threatened to trace a smirk onto her pale lips.
"You need not to do anything of the sort." Her answer came out reassuring. She herself wasn't used to receiving compliments at all. Granted, she had received them from officials and family friends at various balls and outings her family hosted in the past. Those had all been mechanic, however. Whether or not they had been genuine was entirely up to the speaker and the speaker alone. That was how stiff mannerisms worked though.
Regardless, a compliment was given, an echoed one of appearance. It made Alice want to laugh. Jessie seemed nervous. Just as she had been during their first meeting. She found it almost endearing. Letting a curtain of white lashes temporarily fall over her frozen blue eyes, she resumed her natural monotonous tone:
"Thank you kindly, miss McKnight. Though these clothes are nothing special." In truth, the dress was pretty special to her, but of course she wouldn't allow herself to reveal that.
Like a dormant doll roused from sleep, her thick lashes soon slid back up, allowing her icy gaze to focus freely on the girl. The warm breeze had picked up again, running its fingers through her white hair. She wasn't sure if she should say more. If Jessie was still working, she certainly didn't want to keep her from her work.

Was she amused ? Yes that was defiantly a chuckle, it was soft and simple quick as it was no more then one . Yet it caused Jessie to look at the other , less shocked but still surprized. She noted the other thanked her for the mirrored complement but Jessies past thought seemed correct either Alice didn't get many true complements or she cared very little for them.
Before she had a chance to speak to the white ribbon hair girl another figure presented itself at the table.
host member : ", your able to head off if you wish, if not let any of us know if you'd like more tea. "
With a nod the other girl left. A sigh of relief left Jessie , finding it rather more happy sounding then she had attended. Causing a deeper blush. " Sorry, that sigh seemed a little rude.. I just don't care for the spot light, and I really didn't know much about hosting when I signed up for this job."
She took a moment to take a sip of tea before speaking again. " that is truly a lie Ms Alice, I thought you weren't the type to slip in lies. I can tell you worked hard on making the outfit yours. "
She winked , leaving her to note another out of character act. Yes she was taught to flirt, but with Alice it seemed like a game, her presence both had Jessie twisted in emotions of nervousness and a odd since she wanted to be her best by this person. She wondered was this her finding herself ? Was she becoming who she really is ?

Alice's icy blue gaze flickered up to an unfamiliar girl approaching the table, dismissing Jessie from her work. The pink haired girl gave a sigh which only seemed to augment the blush further on her cheeks. The spider didn't know too much about hosting either. Rather, she didn't care too much about it. Anything of social requirement always failed to gain her interest. That is, but a few seldom exceptions.
"It's perfectly fine. Every host has their differences."
She spoke softly, her voice a quiet lull over the drone of the chattering of the girls at the other tables. She was truthfully curious about why Jessie had signed up for such a job. Perhaps it was just on a whim or curiosity itself. Maybe even forced. Whatever the reason, she decided she would save the inquisition for a little later.
Next came a statement that managed to surprise the white widow - something that was incredibly difficult to do. Her gaze flittered down to her outfit then back up at the girl. She certainly had good eyes. Ears, too for that matter. Or maybe she was just adept at reading people? Then the girl winked, passing the statement off as a bit of a flirtatious one. Alice couldn't hide the start of an infectious smirk that began to angle her lips. She'd been caught. She lied on a regular basis, so much so that it was almost like child's play now. They were most commonly little things, though even the big ones she could mask well. Being caught, however, was truly not a regular occurrence.
"Am I really that transparent?" She mused, an edge of amusement lacing her toneless voice. Smoothing out the frills of her skirt with a careful hand, she continued, "I did work hard on this, yes. Four months of work."
Alice didn't usually give out information like that, but she felt like it was acceptable to in this situation. Though she wouldn't openly admit it, she could say she was more or less enjoying herself a bit so far. Jessie was quite the interesting character, and she had quite a few surprises about her too. An intriguing girl indeed.

Really she hadn't meant to start a game, but for the first time ever it wasn't something of a forced choir and she was actually surprizing her self she was having fun flirting with a girl. She tapped her chin finding the others gaze again she smiled. " And fine work it is, my mother taught me to sow at one time I was getting pretty good."
She gentle held her cup in her hand as she found this an amusing situation, for being so shy earlier she found it easy to speak to Alice, or at least the others presence was a calm one and easy to feel better about ones self. "As for the transparency-"
She shook her head " no, actually I can never tell what your up to, that is until you give me a sign..if I must be truthful I find you very mysterious, and it makes me want to more of you."
She took another sip of tea, then held the tea pot pouring some for her self, and held it for a moment to see if Alice wanted more. " As for how I managed it, when I was young my father could be...forceful . If I didn't read him correctly and do something wrong..things could get ..uncomfortable"
Her playful smile faulted for a moment at what she said but picked up again though not quite as bright.

"Thank you. Sowing is quite a lovely activity."
She never really gave personal opinions, but such was the conduct of conversation. The spider tilted her head in another display of amusement at the other's mention of transparency. As a common spider was keen at masking its presence, Alice was skilled at the aspect of hiding her intentions or actions. Almost frighteningly so. To never let anyone into that flurrying mind of hers. Every action was mechanic almost; having been done before at one point or another so that she may draw from it if need be. Every saying, almost rightfully the same, however, those occasionally required something new to be formulated on the spot. And that is where her silver tongue came into play. The last part of the girl's statement however, about being mysterious and the desire to know more, only peaked the smirk that bounded across Alice's lips.
"Ah, miss McKnight, that is a difficult, snowy path you'd be heading down." She responded, drawing a lily-white hand up to rest a pale cheek against. The spider rarely let anyone in. To do that would be to expose her numb soul, and that wasn't the prettiest thing in the world. Even she was afraid to know what lay beneath all that ice and ensnaring spider silk. Of course, that fear always came in segments, and never really lasted for long. If it had, her soul wouldn't have been so numb as it was now. That is, if she even still had one.
The tea pot was offered and Alice shook her head to decline the offer, ribbons of her hair flowing with the motion like snowflakes. She hadn't really even touched her tea to be honest. The conversation seemed to take a dark turn next. The snowy spider listened to it, feeling an ounce of rare genuine sympathy for the girl. Now that she thought about it, Jessie didn't seem to mention her father much. Her mother, yes, but Alice assumed the worst in that situation. But her father... Something didn't sound right about him. Looking up at the girl, she noticed that her smile had lost a little of its brightness too.
"A forceful, violent father and a princess caught in the heart of the turmoil." Or at least that was what she had drawn from it. She tried her best to speak carefully, as to not upset her, but Alice had lost all but a little of compassionate emotions long ago. "Such skills are prevalent for survival in those situations. I am truthfully sorry you had to gain such a skill from trauma."
She spoke to the best of her ability. Not knowing much of anything about the girl, it was the least she could do. Crossing one leg over the other under the table, she watched her, wondering what effect her words would have.

Difficult,a chosen word of the snowy angel. It would be difficult to get to know her yes but seeing as how Alice was indeed her first friend, or partner at the very least she would try to track through the snow if needed.
The other had an amused look as well which Jessie was glade of. " Maybe we can sow together some time, after all you'll need something just as lovely as you for your big show . "
The mood switched over as one of something like worry. Alice gave a guess of the situation, which was unfortunately correct her eyes widened gripping the cup she looked at it . " He is no father...he's the devil. "
Her tone soft, and a dark monotone. Momentarily stuck in her memories she spoke out again tears causing her eyes to look as if stained glass. "His eyes were dark, cold and lifeless when he told me it was my fault..."
Whipping each eye letting tears drip across her hand she smiled back up at Alice as though it was nothing.

"I will take that offer into consideration." She answered to the suggestion about sowing together with a slight flick of a few curled fingers. She would need something when the time came. Fortunately, that time wouldn't be until much later, but life had a way of creeping up on you if you weren't prepared. Like a predator crashing through an unaware flimsy spider web.
As for the topic about Jessie's father, it appeared as if the albino widow had been correct in her assumption. Everything in the pink haired girl's body language had changed. Were those tears staining her eyes? It certainly looked like it. Alice pondered on what could have happened in the past to the girl. A devil-like father. A daughter who had blame piled on her. But blame of what...? What had she been at fault for? Sifting through the information she had been supplied with and what she had ultimately assumed, she concluded that if what she had surmised had been true - if Jessie's mother was indeed dead - then perhaps her father had blamed her for that. A traumatic story.
Alice looked at the girl. At the tears and the smile that seemed to be fake. She wasn't one to dwell in the convictions and lives of others nor display much compassion or care in any matter, but something about that faked smile disgruntled the snowy spider. Maybe it was her lack of the concept of emotion - for Alice merely saw all but felt only a select few. Whatever the reason, it didn't sit too well with her.
"While the past can still haunt, it can be combatted. Know that here, in this garden of girls, surrounded by its gorious gla-- glorious gates --," honestly, what a terrible time for a troublesome Spoonerism, "--and its holy protection, that he cannot harm you here. Here you are free to do so as you please, granted, under certain academy restrictions, without his blame or say. You are able to be and to carve your own path -- your own life. To push all those negatives and faults from your mind. Here, your slate is clean and your decisions are yours. It is what you shall do with them that really determines the outcome for here, he has no say in anything. No way to blame."
That had been completely out of character for her. Had she been able to feel actual pain, her lungs would have been burning from lack of oxygen from the long-winded speech. Her throat would be aching too. The only thing that betrayed it was a dryness of her tongue and a weariness that had suddenly invaded her core. Alice wasn't used to talking that much. In fact, she wasn't sure she had spoken that much prior to this ever. Not just that, but she wasn't sure what she had been trying to conclude. Whatever it might have been, however, she hoped it would at least aid in drying the tears from the pink haired girl's eyes. Feeling a little lightheaded, she shifted in her chair and moved her hand to rest against her forehead through a tangle of snowy bangs, flashing her icy blue gaze back up at the girl to check her condition.

Giggling, she hadn't meant to, tears fell and she just couldn't help it it was a release of a mix of emotions. Her tears were from earlier and her laughter, she didn't mean for them but was from the sentence mishap.
It wasn't that she saw anything wrong with it. In fact it bothered her at how it had been so funny. She wasn't making fun but for Alice being the elegant and calm person , even cold if Jessie thought of how Alice saw her self.A mishap in wording at this point really cheered her up. Not only that but the girls words were true.
Jessie looked at the girl, giggles calming she whipped her newly fallen tears. " Thank you Alice, that was truly sweet of you, I am sorry for laughing , it truly was not meant to make fun, trust in that , after all you've seen first case of my stutter."
She calmed down though tears still leaked from her eyes, they seemed to be different from before . " Your a true friend Ms Alice. Now you have helped me , I guess I should get back to helping you, shall we begin our practice?"
She new Alice must rather take action then words and she had already done so much to entertain the pink haired girl. It would be best to take some action now. Besides all these emotions needed a out lit.

Laughing. The girl was laughing. It took Alice a moment of thinking to confirm its origin. Her sentence mishap. It had to have been that. Of all the troubling embarrassments it had caused for her, and here, it had seemed to have done a bit of the opposite. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not, nor if she should take any offence to that. Nonetheless, she hadn't really expected for that. But if it calmed the girl down, then what had been the harm?
"It's quite alright. I am glad to be of service." The bemused snowy spider was having trouble piecing everything together. Really, a speech impediment of all things.
Something about being called a true friend caused an unnoticeable shudder to crawl down Alice's stiff spine. She'd never been referred to in such a way before. Because of its unfamiliarly, she felt almost repelled by the word, yet at the same time... She shook her head of it. It was something she would just have to shoulder and tolerate. Just for a little while at least.
The subject of practice arose next, and Alice responded to it with a silent nod. It would be best to do something to take the other's mind off the darker subject for now. Still, of all things, her speech impediment. Alice was still comically caught off guard by the occurrence.
