Plotline: Three girls find themselves crowned the next three Idols of the campus town. It’ not just them who think they are the most unlikely group of idols but a large group of all seven schools. They find themselves in the middle of trying to find a way out, mediation, attempting to acclimate into their new and unwanted duties, rumors, their fellow Sisters, and the hatred from their peers. Gosh, what were the three Idols thinking when they chose them?
Among the Seven Sisters: Overture
Chapter I: The Dunce of Sister Electra Girls’ Academy
The morning started just as it had been everyday for the students of Sister Electra Girls’ Academy Sun class.
Everyone was crowded over and around other students’ desks, chatting away excitedly about an event that happens every year and at the start of the year. It was not just the students who were excited by also others in the adult world were excited of such. The adults would bet on the girls who showed promise. Boys in the neighboring school would give gifts to the girls they felt were worthy of a high position all through the previous week.
It was called the Seven Sister Selection. Girls stepping down from their work as a Seven Sister or Pleiades announced whom they picked to work after them. Everyone would stay glued to the television sets from around the entire town. Last year, four girls stepped down. Each one from four of the other schools within the town and one of them most notably was Sister Alcyone’s Academy for Girls.
Sister Alcyone’s Academy for Girls was everyone’s favorite school. Many girls had wanted to go there because of the uniforms. Most importantly, it was Sister Electra Girls’ Academy’s rival. Last year’s Seven Sister Selection, everyone seemed to agree and like a particular girl from the school. Her name was Taurina Stanislava, the most beautiful of the underclassmen from what other students were saying of her.
While she was the light of the sun and of the stars to the whole entire campus, there was one in particular who well… was not.
And she happened to be here among the throng of girls in the Sun class during homeroom. She was over by the windows. No one speaks to her or walked near her, lest they wanted some of her misfortune. Her misfortune for well, being the “Dunce of Sister Electra Girls’ Academy”, and her name is Maia Miakoda.
Maia turned her head towards the others in her class. They did not turn their heads towards her. She could, however, feel t heir eyes towards her in their peripheral. She looked back through the window and frowned.
Luckily, by that time the teacher had came in, heels clicking along the tiled floor. The young woman stood in front of the classroom, in back of her small podium. She grabbed a remote and aimed it toward the wall. The blackboard scrolled upwards towards the ceiling, leaving behind a large movie screen. She pressed a button on the podium and it sunk down towards the floor.
“In about a few minutes, Seven Sister Selection part 1 will be broadcasted. I would like for everyone to sit down and pay attention to the board. Perhaps one of the names will belong to someone in our class! If it is, won’t it be exciting?” the teacher asked. “Afterwards, we can spend a brief moment of time discussing who we wanted to be the next Sev—Oops, I ruined it for you guys. This upcoming Seven Sister Selection will be from our school!”
The teacher started saying some extra things, but Maia jut simply stared at the screen zoning out on her teacher. No one made a move to turn to her and smile. No one turned to offer a “good luck”. No one turned to say, “I hope it is you” to her. They turned to their other classmates to say those things and turned eagerly to the broadcast that appeared on screen.
✯
A girl appeared on the screen with a beautiful, shining smile on her face. She wore the usual Sister Electra Girls’ Academy’s blue and black uniform. Her sky-blue colored eyes gazed towards her audience, glittering gently. Her hair was shimmering red-orange, bright as an emergency vehicle’s paint. Her porcelain skin was splashed with a delicate amount of freckles. Her name was Oriana.
“My name is Oriana Mapiya and I am now in the Seventh Year. It was great being a Sister, a Pleiades but it I time for me to retire. It is time for a sun to set and ready for the great unknown. I would like to thank Idalia Chipara for believing in me and picking me as her successor,” Oriana said, her eyes were starting to tear up. She even brought a hand up to wipe up the tears. “But this will come as a surprise to a lot of you and to the town that I love. I have faith in this girl and I have seen her struggle so much, it brings me to tears. But she stood up and dealt with it and I admire that about her. She won’t give up and I’m sure she will continue to do so now for you. Her name is Maia. Maia Miakoda. You may not remember me, but I have been watching over you till today. You said you wanted to be a Sister to me when you were younger. Well, your dream has come true. However, now no matter how unlikely it has become for you. To me you are the best choice. You are the only choice this school has who will be successful.”
The girl closed her eyes, before opening them and giving her audience a determined glance.
“Please do not give her trouble anymore. She has been working hard. I know for a fact. She is the most caring person I know. It is time that you realize her potential and quit calling her the Dunce she had earned up until now,” Oriana said. With that the girl bowed and left the stage.
✯
Her eyes snapped open.
She looked at everyone in the classroom now staring at her. Everyone had gasped in astonishment. Everyone’s eyes were on her. They were expecting her to say something. However, Maia could not.
“No way…”
“She never does anything! How does she have potential?”
Maia was not sure she heard what Oriana said at all correctly. Even the teacher was staring at her with widened eyes. Was she that pathetic? Was she that hopeless and destined to not make it? Maia stood up. What was Oriana thinking when she picked her? Was this a way to bully her?
“I-I…I need to go. I…” Maia started.
The teacher nodded at her, also dazed and confused.
Maia quickly got up from her seat, grabbing the teacher’s pass from the teacher’s outstretched hand and heading for the door. She slipped out of the classroom quickly, much faster than her usual time for sprints.
It was better than listening to what people thought would be a better choice.
