Hmm... Not entirely out of the question. This one girl probably had more to tell her than a lot of the potential customers in the room, so she wasn't against the idea of leaving and spending some time with her. It wasn't like she couldn't return later as well, so in reality it came down to if she was willing to risk letting such a goldmine of knowledge escape her in favor of many others, or if she wanted to pursue this development ad see exactly how much there was to learn from this girl. It wasn't that tough a choice, but at the same time, she had to factor in this girl's desire of the moment. She had a friend she wanted to see, and pulling her away from that, offered or not, would impede the amount of information to be obtained. If she was taken away from an environment or person she felt open with, she wouldn't be so open, or at least that was the hypothesis.
" A night like this calls for only the finest of activity, malady, and as such it is in your hands." she made a point of connecting those dots, since the point of this was to make her feel good enough about herself to say anything that came to mind. "Consider me your loyal follower of the evening, and take us both on the adventures that you fancy. The magic will come to us, so long as you guide us."
There. That took all the need for the choice out of her hands, added some flavor, and made it seem more open ended. The reality was, Jill was going to soak as much knowledge as was given and continue to dig for more regardless of location, so it really came down to this girl's comfort zone. She did fancy this horse of hers, so it was possible she would be more open there. Not only that, but galloping around campus at night against regulation was a fantastic way to stick it to the man, so to speak. All the learning she could muster could never quite match the joys of anti-conformity through learning.

Hmm...an elephant? Thats sort of interesting. A slow song started to play as Aki was pulled out of her thoughts. "So, Riko-chan, How about that dance?" Aki said as she lightly slid her hand into Riko's hand. She said, "Excuse us Ubu-chan." And led her crush to the dance floor. She held Riko close and started to dance. She closed her eyes and smiled imagining the scene. They were close together, slowly dancing, and were together. This was a happy moment for Aki. it made her think about the picture of her as an etoile. Wen they got back to the dorms Aki would make sure Riko was asleep before she finished the drawing imagining that she would become etoile with Riko. " Riko-chan... I hope you are having fun." Aki whispered into Riko's ear. She didn't want Riko to feel pressured or anything, so she didn't say the words she wanted to. The words I Love You.

No matter that the redhead had been thrown off balance by the sudden hug, Ubu was just giving her typical enthusiastic greeting to a friend. A really good friend with a cool accent. The ball had just gotten exponentially more exciting for her simply because another of her close friends was now there to share the experience. Ubu didn't even give a second thought to the hesitant comment about how peculiar her outfit for the Ball was. If Margeaux thought it was interesting that was to be taken at face value and as a positive thing. The silvernette just touched the brim of her fedora in acknowledgement of the compliment and moved on to the next topic of discussion. Which as it turned out she had immediate knowledge of, allowing her to answer the American's question without a moment's hesitation. Feeling confident she smiled and grinned as she glanced over at the dance floor and spotted their pinkentte friend dancing with Aki, whom Ubu had just met.
"Rinko-chan's dancing with her roommate, Aki-chan. I just met her but she seems pretty nice and everything," Ubu answered decisively before moving on, "If you don't have any plans then maybe we should grab some refreshments from the catering table. After all, if we don't do it now it's possible that we might not get any!"
Then she pulled out the little notebook she'd brought with her and grinned, "Actually I'm here to work on a puzzle that's been bothering me since I first got here in the summer. A big, mysterious curse that I haven't found the source of just yet. But, like I keep saying, 'I'll either find a way or make one!' It's just a matter of time before some clues are bound to surface," Ubu concluded, then jokingly offered Margeaux her arm, "Shall we get some drinks?"

Ubu was, as ever, enjoying herself. Margeaux smiled as her friend tipped her hat. The silvernette was quite correct in taking her remark at face value. Ever the supporter of Ubu and whatever plan she had cooked up, Margeaux was glad to have ran into her so soon after arriving at the Ball. Even if it was by literally running into her.
And she even brought good news! So, Rin had made it to the ball after all. Margeaux grinned, although it was a slight disappointment to learn that she was presently occupied with a dance. Oh well, she could meet up with her later. And meet the pink haired girl's roommate. That would be rather nice. In the meantime, Ubu had something else in mind.
A trip to the refreshment table sounded good. But, the redhead tensed up when she heard what else her minty-voiced friend had been trying to do.
"A c-curse?" she asked, taking the Miator's arm, a slight hesitation to her voice, "What curse?"
She certainly couldn't have meant her curse. That would just be silly. Nobody knew about it, here. At least not yet. She hoped it would stay that way, but there had always been the nagging feeling at the back of her head. It wasn't like she believed in those sorts of things, anyway. They were just...annoying, was all.
Besides, what she was working on began over the summer. Probably before they even met. Actually...now Margeaux was curious. Rin still had the mystery around those journal pages. What other curses existed on Astraea Hill?

All of Eriko's emotions had been released in one dramatic moment back in the forest amongst the snow whirling in the wind. The last door to her true inner heart had been smashed down and she wasn't really sure how to act now. She had decided to completely trust this older girl who had refused to let her drift away into the same old isolation. Whom she had fought tooth and nail to keep from floating away into her own personal seclusion as well. It was a bizarre feeling to let anyone in and it left her very uncertain about a lot of things. So much so that she was in a bit of a daze as they finally arrived at the Winter Ball later than planned but probably much better off emotionally.
"No, this is fine Lily-oneesama," she responded oddly quietly when the older girl asked if the pace was too fast.
Really she preferred to just keep pace with Yuwa since the older girl was more sure of what she was doing. This was incredibly new territory for Eriko, which left her in a position where someone else taking the lead was best. Her own dress had been partly Yuwa's idea, so its style was similar enough to the older girl's. Eriko had let her hair down too since the girl she had just confessed to really seemed to like it that way. Arguably she'd be fine regardless of which way Eriko wore her hair but this was all intended to impress the dark haired girl as much as she could. Even the floral hair decoration was back, making Eriko look far more feminine than she would have been on a normal day. She was also fairly quiet and wide-eyed as they stepped inside, hand in hand, just waiting for the older girl to decide what they'd do next.
"Ne, Lily-oneesama?" she asked sheepishly before going deadpan, "Lily-oneesama is Eriko's wife. The end."
She had noticed that her beloved Eriko-chan was quiet all of a sudden. That's not like her, Yuwa thought to herself. Sure, from time to time she gets nervous but she always has a happy smile on her face and she's willing to take on any challenge. Perhaps in this more feminine setting, it was her job to take over the lead. She walked into the hall and found a couch that was relatively empty. Everyone else was either dancing or making gossip. Plenty of time for that for us, for now, we just need to catch ourselves. Yuwa's head spun her plans as she suggested to Eriko. "Ne, Eriko, would you like to rest over there?" As soon as Eriko nodded solemnly as she normally did, Yuwa took her to the couch and winked softly. "I'll get us some drinks, I'll be right back." Well....'right back' was actually 10 minutes, thanks to the accursed line, other people standing around in the hall. Truth be told, to the gothic-lolita events like these weren't exactly her cup of tea. They're too crowded, too friendly-oriented and so forth. In reality, in the future winter balls it might be Eriko-chan taking the lead. That made Yuwa think about it more. She's a third yr, Eriko-chan's a 2nd yr. What can they do to make up that lost yr? Yuwa shook her head violently. 'No, I mustn't think like that! We have our future ahead of us.'. She brought a strawberry milkshake for Eriko and had it put in a Hanshin Tiger plastic cup with a top on it and a straw. She brought herself a soda.(A sprite.) She then walked to the couch and gave her the milkshake. "Sorry for the wait, was it long?" She asked and when Eriko mentioned that she was her wife, Yuwa blushed again and on instinct she nibbled Eriko's ear and hugged her gently while whispering. "That's right...You're my wife Eriko. I won't let you go."

Rin had danced before, lots of times, learning the waltz and other fine dances. As she allowed Aki to take the lead in this dance, it was a little different. She was close, close enough to whisper in her ear and Rin couldn't help but blush. "Hai," she whispered back. She was having fun,
"Ano, Aki-chan, I don't know the steps to this dance."
She felt something coming from her dark haired room mate, but she couldn't tell what it was. There was a strange feeling between them in this dance. Still, whatever it was it didn't make her weary or afraid. It seemed her companion had started a western-style slow dance with her, which was a very simple way of dancing, simply swaying with slow turns. Still, it resulted in Rin clumsily stepping on her roomate's foot.
"Gomenasai!" She exclaimed, stepping back, but not far enough to leave her dancing posture, "Aki-chan are you okay? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," she came back in to the closer stance, with great concern for her friends foot, "I didn't hurt you did I?"

A magical night was oftentimes the best kind of night. Perhaps Shun was biased towards these kinds of descriptions. Magic, after all, was her stock and trade. Not actual magic, of course. She had yet to actually find something like that. But, the sort of magic she performed often made for a good substitute. Just as she had done in the past, Shun came prepared to perform at the Winter Ball. She had her cards and a few other tricks she would keep up her sleeve (so to speak). And she made sure that she dressed for the occasion, too. White heels clicked against the floor as the dance floor grew crowded. A slow number that many of her classmates were enjoying. Perhaps she would take one of them out on such a dance. But first, Shun had to perform! While she wouldn't have anything quite as grandiose as her performance on the beach, there were always a few small feats of illusions that she could use in this situation. Shun had done them plenty of times before. They were all motions her hands were used to making. When she reached an appropriately empty table, she removed a deck of cards and began to shuffle them. First was your typical shuffle, but she gradually increased the complexity. The more difficult they appeared, the more curious eyes she would draw her way. For now, though, it was merely a means to pass the time and entertain herself. Most of the crowd was dancing. And Shun was well aware many of them were more interested in their partners than playing cards.

So it was totally up to her. Suddenly she regretted leaving the Ball. She hesitated, looking around again, suddenly feeling there was something her suitor would rather do here. "Ah...m-maybe we can come right back?" She stammered. Feeling her whole idea was stupid. She should have just excused herself and gone alone. Blushing though her suitor seemed confident enough, she looked at the ground. Chibi wasn't so confident anymore, but the thought of seeing Tsuyo fueled her steps as she made for the coats.
She took back her fur covering for warmth and with one last glance at the crowd for Kagami, tiara sparkling, she left the ball with Naga nearby. Her walk was brisk then, making a bee-line for the stables. Astraea was calm and cold, covered in snow. It was beautiful. She wondered if the girl with her had ever been around a horse before. Tsuyo was used to two riders, but if Naga was afraid on uneasy, it would upset the purple-eyed stallion. She told herself it would be fine and to stay calm.
(new thread at the stables? or should we do it all here?)

Aki's foot stung a little, but it was all right. She was happy that Riko cared so much about her. "Riko-chan, I'm quite all right. I should be worried about you...." Aki said smiling. She didnt want to worry Riko. She was worried enough by her future."But really, are you ok?"Aki said hugging Riko and then pulling away. "I dont want you to worry about me. It would be trouble for you..." Aki smiled at Riko. She wondered what was going through the pinkette's mind. maybe she was just thinking about life...Aki didnt have time to ponder it as the song ended." Ah, I guess it's Ubu-chan's turn. I'm going to grab something from the snack table and head to our dorm. If I'm asleep when you get back, tell me in the mourning how the ball was." And with that Aki hugged her room mate and went over to the snack bar.

Post by Ubu Miyase on Mar 19, 2014 7:57:23 GMT -5
Ubu had been of mind at first to keep her investigation a secret so that she wouldn't frighten anybody. A curse that could destroy the happiness of two people in love was a very serious thing indeed. People getting scared might lead to rumors about the curse growing anew; that itself would maybe even make the curse stronger. She was sure she'd read somewhere that some curses gained strength through the number of people who believed in them or talked about them. When she was trying to stop the curse she didn't want to inadvertently make it stronger.
But Margeaux was her friend and keeping a secret like this from her, or any secret really, wasn't as fun as including the American in that secret. If the girl had been willing to go along with her praying to Baal for blessings and searching through a forest for a feather, surely she might be interested in this latest quest. Actually that fear she thought people would have about the curse seemed present in Margeaux's voice so she frowned a little. Should she or shouldn't she? Really it was too late now to change the subject or deny a curse existed. Better to tell the whole story. They arrived at the refreshment table and she grabbed a couple of what looked like fruity drinks, handing one to Margeaux without asking if she wanted that particular flavor.
"Is that flavor okay? I'm not sure what it is.. it looks like it's purple though. Purple's usually good right?" she asked after the fact before placing her notebook back in her jacket pocket.
Then she looked to Margeaux and explained, "The Etoile Curse. Everyone says it strikes every year to split apart Astraea's happiest couple just when they're at their happiest moment. They're supposed to be an example to everyone of the power of love, but somehow they keep getting torn apart. That can't be a coincidence. So I've done a lot of reading on curses and what cause them, but there aren't enough clues to figure out what kind of curse this is. I thought that since the Winter Ball is a place where the Etoiles always appear, and it's part of the famous story of our current Etoiles, I should start here. First I thought the ceiling tiles might have something to do with it.. but now, I think maybe what's causing it is below our feet.. so to speak."
"I want to end the curse, so our happy couple can stay happy. Plus there might be some really neat relics wherever this curse is coming from," she concluded, then shrugged, "But there's no evidence at the ball so far. Maybe I'm on the wrong track."

Aki seemed to leave so suddenly Rin was startled. Rather than introduce her to her friends, the girl was ready to leave. The pinkette really felt something was off, "Okay Aki-chan," she guessed the girl must not be feeling well and bowed as she walked away. Then she turned to look for the silverette, who now was talking to a familiar red head. A wide grin spread across her face and she quickly approached the duo just in time to hear Ubu explain the Etoile curse. Rin had heard of it, but not any reasoning behind it or really what it was.
Knowing about it made it even worse for her, since her was to become etoile one day, did it mean she was sentenced to unhappiness? She didn't say anything right away, considering this. It gave enough time to be greeted by the two, to which she would respond with hugs.
"Malgulu-chan, I'm glad you made it!" She chimed. The next dance was minutes away. She couldn't wait for the chance to dance with her friends.

The Etoile Curse. That made more sense. And it was quite an odd tale. Margeaux had heard a little bit about it. There were hardly any students that hadn't heard of it. As Ubu described it, it certainly seemed like it was almost a certainty. And naturally Ubu aimed to do something about it.
Actually...now that she thought about it, Margeaux wondered if this curse could be related to what happened all those years ago. Between that "M" person and whoever Saia was. They didn't have any other details other than those few pages Rin had collected. But, maybe if they found some more, they could put the whole thing to rest.
"Yeah...purple should be fine." she said, taking the drink offered by her silver haired friend. She took an inquisitive sip and found it to be a rather tasty grape flavor. "Mmm! Tastes pretty good, too!"
She took a few more sips and tried to find any other connections. Nothing seemed readily apparent and before she could share this early form of a theory, a familiar face greeted her. Margeaux grinned and exclaimed, "Rinko-chan!" as returned the hug offered by the pink haired girl.
"So am I!" she said, "It's good to see you, again!"
Now that the trio had been reunited, Margeaux was ecstatic. Ubu always had fun ideas...but her latest seemed pretty ambitious. Perhaps there was some way she could help. And with Rin, she was pretty sure that no matter what it took, they would be able to figure it out.

Post by Kakura Taiyo on Mar 19, 2014 22:33:57 GMT -5
Kakura had no plans of going to the Ball until she met Naoko-chan. As she was getting ready in her room, she blushed as she thought about her teal hair, her beautifully toned skin and those piercings. She had her own piercings, of course but they pailed in comparison to the badassery of Naoko's. She knew she had to match the scenery somewhat, but she also wanted to be flamboyant. Sure, yes, everyone's going in a dress. Big freaking deal. Besides, she figured that Naoko much preferred her flamboyancy to some princess. After all, there were plenty of princesses to choose from. So she was wearing a multi-colored shirt(mostly navy blue and purple) that had 'Disturbia' on the bottom. The design itself, which depicted anything but sanity fit it well. She then slid on a very rad, raunchy and radical skirt. It was called 'dancing in the moonlight' and it was perfect for the occasion in Kakura's mind. After slipping on the boots and checking out her bod, she winked at herself in the mirror. 'There's no way Naoko-chan doesn't think I'm cute.' She thought to herself. She then walked, all chill and punkish into the hall, like the rebel she is. "Yo, all" She said to no one in particular, while overlooking the crowd for that sexy teal-haired babe.

Anywhere in the auditorium would have been just as fine for Eriko as anywhere else really. Emotions were still ruling over her thoughts and she was comfortable being quiet and following Yuwa's lead. She had no argument with sitting down where the older girl suggested, though honestly she didn't need a rest. Yuwa walking off to get some drinks did give Eriko a chance to collect herself and clear her mind. The redhead wondered why she felt kind of lonely even for the short time that Yuwa was gone. Enough so that she felt anxious and was tempted to get up and go find the girl she'd confessed to rather than waiting.
That wouldn't be very fair to Yuwa though since there was every possibility of getting lost in the crowd of girls. Then Yuwa would come back to find Eriko missing and maybe think the redhead had left her. So Eriko just sat and waited, still ever uncertain about her newly emotional state but unable to do much about it. This was their big debut though. First time doing something after confessing, which was like signing a new contract with a team. Hers was an emotional contract with an older woman that had no expiration. Everyone at the ball was the crowd in their game of life, kind of, waiting to cheer them on or boo or whatever. Using baseball helped her get back into a more typical frame of mind just as Yuwa arrived. That cup certainly helped too, though Eriko's main reaction was to just nod in silent approval. She was blushing herself when the older girl showed her some tenderness while hugging her. Too much eomtion in her mind.. she had to keep herself focused!
So she took a big, long drink of her milkshake. Her cheeks puckered as she sucked up as much as would fit in her mouth, swallowing all at once. Then she twitched as she felt the inevitable backlash of too much frozen treat at once. Brain freeze took effect and suddenly she had an idea of how to break her nervous tension. Eriko collapsed back into Yuwa's embrace and stared up at the older girl with her deadpan expression.
"Too much.. frozen... drink.. Eriko's not going to make it, Lily-oneesama. Tell the Tuesday Timberwolf I said.. hello," she said emotionlessly, feigning a fatal condition thanks to her brain freeze.

Post by Kanako Izumi on Mar 20, 2014 1:30:22 GMT -5
Kanako had come to the conclusion that big events on campus would be an ideal time to pitch in and try to help others out in a different way. The nuns had helped run the Halloween party and were at least somewhat involved in getting the Winter Ball going too. In addition to teachers they were part of the staff whose responsibilities extended to helping the girls have fun as well as learn. When the idea had been floated of coming to the Ball to help out the nuns with setting up the event Kanako hadn't given it a second thought. Since her job had been to set everything up alongside some student coucil girls and some nuns (she was kind of both really), now she was free to enjoy herself. Yet instead of dancing or enjoying friendly company the girl was waiting outside the auditorium in spite of the winter cold.
Why wait outside like that? Kanako had invited the mysterious girl she'd found near the front gate earl one morning to come to the Ball with her. Cecilia was still really new to campus so it was an ideal time to help her get to know some other girls. As opposed to the other girls at the ball (from what she'd seen) Kanako was just wearing her normal non-uniform clothes. A long navy blue skirt and sweater over a high-necked white top. Very plain and unassuming but exactly what Kanako wanted - not to attract too much attention to herself while she served others. Tonight was also Christmas Eve, so she'd gone to the trouble of getting a present for the younger girl. Just a simple bronze colored hair clip in a traditional knotwork design from Europe, but she thought the girl might like it. Now all Kanako could do was wait for the pale skinned girl to arrive and she could give her that present and introduce her to some more people.
"Stiele nacht... heilige nacht.. " she quietly sang a Christmas carol as she waited.
