(This is a redo of a character I created on the site before, but never got around to playing. The previous profile can be found here)
Name: Kyou Oda (skittles)
School Attending: Spica
Age/ Year in School:14/Third Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Rachel from Baccano!
Hair Color: A sandy-blonde colour.
Hairstyle: Kyou typically has her hair pulled back into a bun or ponytail, although when she wears her bandanna, it tends to look like her hair is incredibly short in the back. Her bangs aren't quite long enough to be pulled back, and fall around the sides of her face and down the centre, between her eyes. By some kind of miracle, they never seem to obscure her vision.
Eye Color: Amber.
Height: 5'2"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform?
Kyou will always be seen wearing a bandanna around her head when not in uniform. She often wears long-sleeved, turtleneck shirts and some kind of jacket over top, as well as a pair of worn and scuffed up jeans. She has poor circulation and gets cold easily, so even in the summer Kyou doesn't often dress any differently. In regards to footwear, she prefers either court shoes or running shoes. Everything she owns seems to be in pretty rough shape, which is the product of her hatred of shopping. So despite the fact that most of her pants have holes in the knees and her sneakers are literally falling apart, she still clings to them, trying to suck as much life out of them as possible before venturing out to a store. The only exception to this rule are her court shoes, which are kept in tip-top condition.
Colour-wise, Kyou tends to wear darker, more muted colours, like blacks, greys, and the greens depicted in the photo above. She's not fond of bright colours, mainly because dirt tends to show up much better--something that isn't appealing to a very messy person.

Is your character on the Student Council?
No.
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president, Himiko Miyamae?
N/A.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Kyou is an outgoing and overly-curious girl with a knack for getting into trouble. She's unbelievably cheerful and optimistic, and she firmly believes that you can make any situation a good situation with a bit of effort and positive thinking. This stems from her lack of experience with situations more tragic than the death of a grandparent or pet, and her fear of not being able to have any control over her life. Kyou hates the thought of a higher power deciding the outcome of her day, and is dead-set on being the only one to determine her fate. As such, she widely disregards the opinions of the general public, going by the "those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind" philosophy. Unfortunately, this bull-headed approach has left Kyou without much in the ways of outside support. Her father is her only friend, having strained her relationship with her mother beyond repair, and having lost touch with her few buddies from home. She's actually quite lonely at the moment, but refuses to acknowledge this and completely ignores it, choosing to plough ahead anyway. All's well that ends well, right?
What makes Kyou's situation so much worse is that she doesn't really understand things like social norms, body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. She'll unknowingly invade a person's personal space or but into their private matters without a second thought, usually invoking the anger of said person. She doesn't quite get the concept that there are some things that people don't want to share, and that not everyone is an open book like herself. Her inability to catch on to when people are getting mad doesn't help either, and the only way to get her off your case is to tell it to her upfront. You have to be as blunt and honest as she is in order to get your feelings across, otherwise she'll just keep coming back, thinking that nothing is wrong. Trying to slowly shut her out or give her the could shoulder never works either; she never picks up on the former, and the latter just infuriates her. She won't understand why a person's being cold towards her, and it frustrates her. A frustrated Kyou is an angry Kyou--one that resorts to yelling and using her fists to communicate as opposed to trying to actually sort things out.
That isn't the only time she'll resort to using less-than-acceptable ways of dealing with things, however. Just about anything that stumps Kyou ends up getting broken in some way or another, whether it's a puzzle, video game, or school project. The only thing she has some semblance of patience for is any kind of athletic activity, but even then it's iffy sometimes. Now, while she's aggressive enough when it comes to dealing with difficult tasks, Kyou is utterly merciless when dealing with someone who's hurt or could potentially hurt a person she holds dear. Or anyone, really. Being a firm believer in equality and self-expression, it really ticks her off when people push others around for something as stupid as their appearance or personality. She will not hesitate to get involved in any bad situation, and give the bully a good "what-for", complete with yelling and maybe a few right hooks. Kyou is fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and overly protective of just about anyone who needs help, whether or not they want it.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
Kyou's isn't quite sure what to think of it. On one hand, she thinks it's awesome because it promotes same-sex couples and fully supports them, urging the rest of the world to do so as well. That being said, she's also of the opinion that the whole thing has turned into more of a popularity contest as opposed to openly displaying one's love for their partner, and that's something she just can't get behind.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
She wouldn't be against it, but it isn't her number one priority. Whatever happens happens.
What does your character think of the current etoiles?
Kyou really isn't sure as to what she thinks of Maiko. The girl seems nice enough, what with the way that she helps others out all the time, but she seems a little too... straight-laced, for lack of a better word. Of course, she has little to go on, given that one, she's never met or even seen the etoile in person, and two, her opinions have been solely based on what she's heard the other girls say. But regardless of the rumours, she still respects Maiko; being an etoile can't be easy, so anyone who's up to the task does deserve some ounce of respect at the very least. This holds true for Kagami as well, although Kyou's opinion of her differs just a little bit. She's actually caught glimpses of the girl in the halls, although she hasn't talked to her either. But between what she's seen and heard, Kyou thinks she's pretty cute... And could use with a bit of a confidence-booster.
What does your character think of the other schools?
Kyou doesn't quite get the rivalry between Miator and Spica, but it makes competitions more interesting so she isn't too bothered by it. Outside of the rivalry, though, she doesn't like Miator much; it seems a little too stuffy and stand-offish for her taste. Too much like her mother, if anything. She thinks Le Rim is cute, but maybe just a bit too cute. The pink doesn't do wonders for her either.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Kyou was born and raised in a quiet little town where everyone was all up in each other's business. She is the only child of the Oda's, an upper-middle class family who, for the most part, are quite traditional in their customs. So, from the moment she was born, Kyou's mother has been trying to groom her into being a "proper" lady. But of course, Kyou had absolutely no interest in following the plans her mother had laid out for her, and was determined to walk her own path in life. As such, she and her mother butted heads from the get-go, as both were too stubborn to even consider making any sort of a compromise. They fought and fought year after year, both trying to press their own ideals on each other. Kyou's father did his best to support both of the girls, but rarely got involved for fear of making the situation worse. He was, however, the only one who could get Kyou to do something her mother wanted to do, and vice versa. It was only through him that some of the peace was kept in the Oda household.
When Kyou was around eight years old, she discovered tennis. She fell in love with the sport immediately, and after bothering her dad about it for a few weeks, he agreed to let her start playing (much to her mother's chagrin). It was then that she realized just how much she enjoyed sports. Phys Ed in school was one thing, but playing outside of school was something else entirely. Within the next little while, she picked up and tried out some of the other sports, but the only one she really stuck to (aside from tennis) was volleyball. Kyou also made a number of friends through these activities, something she hadn't managed to do very well in class because of her lack of understanding of social norms. The kids she met through sports were, for the most part, very welcoming and kind, which made it all the better. Her mother, however, thought that they were a "bad influence" on her daughter, and attempted to stop Kyou from hanging out with them. All of her efforts failed, as Kyou would always find some way or another to see her buddies.
The next few years passed... peacefully, for lack of a better word, although the tension between Kyou and her mother was still there. The two of them had taken their fight "underground" so to speak, making sly jabs here and there but not being completely outright about anything. But other than that, things were pretty good, and Kyou even ended up playing for her junior high tennis team. However, just after the end of grade eight, her father was offered a promotion that (predictably) required him to move a number of cities over. Kyou wasn't too pleased about this, but her mother was overjoyed, knowing full well that it would be incredibly easy to cut off communication between her daughter and her daughter's "unruly" friends. So they jumped a couple cities over, and Kyou decided that she'd had enough of living with her mother. Instead of going to one of the local junior high schools, she persuaded her father to let her transfer to St. Spica, as it had a wonderful sports program. He hesitantly agreed--somewhat afraid of invoking his wife's wrath--and so off Kyou went. Of course, she neglected to mention her leaving to her mother, and the only reason the woman found out was because Kyou flat out ran off in the middle of the night to catch a bus to the school. The two have not spoken since.
First Year: Attended a different school.
Second Year: Attended a different school.
Third Year: Will be filled out at the end of third year.
Fourth Year: Will be filled out at the end of fourth year.
Fifth Year: Will be filled out at the end of fifth year.
Sixth Year: Will be filled out at the end of sixth year.
Sample Post:
She took a deep breath. Adjusted her backpack. Took another deep breath.
And bolted.
Kyou flew down the dark hallway, bare feet pounding against the hardwood. She took the stairs five at a time, grabbing a windbreaker from the coat rack once she hit the landing. As she raced to the kitchen, she heard her parents stumbling around above her. Someone was getting close to the stairs.
She skidded to a halt in front of the fridge. Almost tearing the door of it's hinges in her hurry to get it open, she nabbed a brown paper bag from the top shelf and then started running again. She saw light flood the room just as she left it.
"KYOU!"
Uh-oh.
Mom was hot on her heels.
She slid into the back door. There was no time to put on her shoes, so she grabbed them instead. Forcing the door open, she ran out of the house, doing an immediate U-turn to get to the front. The sound of her mother's yelling faded as she got closer and closer to the street, but Kyou did not slow down. Instead, she pushed herself to go faster, only stopping when she had put a comfortable amount of distance between herself and her house. Panting like a dog, the fourteen year old moved to sit down in the shadow of another house, slinging her tattered backpack onto the ground. She opened it up and placed the paper bag in it before putting on her sneakers and windbreaker.
Stretching her legs out in front of her, Kyou allowed herself a moment to catch her breath. She had ten minutes before the bus came, and it would take only two minutes to get to the stop. She didn't want to get there early; she was counting on her dad to keep her mum at bay, but there was no guarantee that would happen. She didn't want to risk getting dragged back home after all this.
She was going to Spica, mother's wishes be damned.
