Name: Kyou Oda (Ai Ichigo)
School Attending: Spica
Age/ Year in School:14/Third Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Rachel from Baccano!
Hair Color: A sandy-blonde colour.
Hairstyle: Kyou typically has her hair pulled back into a bun or ponytail, although when she wears her bandanna, it tends to look like her hair is incredibly short in the back. Her bangs aren't quite long enough to be pulled back, and fall around the sides of her face and down the centre, between her eyes. By some kind of miracle, they never seem to obscure her vision.
Eye Color: Amber.
Height: 5'2"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform?
Kyou will always be seen wearing a bandanna around her head when not in uniform. She often wears long-sleeved, turtleneck shirts and some kind of jacket over top, as well as a pair of worn and scuffed up jeans. She has poor circulation that leads to her getting cold easily, so even in the summer, Kyou doesn't often dress any differently. In regards to footwear, she prefers either court shoes or running shoes. Everything she owns seems to be in pretty rough shape, which is the product of her hatred of shopping. So despite the fact that most of her pants have holes in the knees and her sneakers are literally falling apart, she still clings to them, trying to suck as much life out of them as possible before venturing out to a store. The only exception to this rule are her court shoes, which are kept in tip-top condition.
Colour-wise, Kyou tends to wear darker, more muted colours, like blacks, greys, and the greens depicted in the photo above. She's not fond of bright colours, mainly because dirt tends to show up much better--something that isn't appealing to a very messy person.

Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Kyou is an outgoing and overly-curious girl with a knack for getting into trouble. She's unbelievably cheerful and optimistic, and she firmly believes that you can make any situation a good situation with a bit of effort and positive thinking. This stems from her lack of experience with situations more tragic than the death of a grandparent or pet, and her fear of not being able to have any control over her life. Kyou hates the thought of a higher power deciding the outcome of her day, and is dead-set on being the only one to determine her fate. As such, she widely disregards the opinions of the general public, going by the "those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind" philosophy. Unfortunately, this bull-headed approach has left Kyou without much in the ways of outside support. Her father is her only friend, having strained her relationship with her mother beyond repair, and having lost touch with her few buddies from home. She's actually quite lonely at the moment, but refuses to acknowledge this and completely ignores it, choosing to plough ahead anyway. All's well that ends well, right?
What makes Kyou's situation so much worse is that she doesn't really understand things like social norms, body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. She'll unknowingly invade a person's personal space or but into their private matters without a second thought, usually invoking the anger of said person. She doesn't quite get the concept that there are some things that people don't want to share, and that not everyone is an open book like herself. Her inability to catch on to when people are getting mad doesn't help either, and the only way to get her off your case is to tell it to her upfront. You have to be as blunt and honest as she is in order to get your feelings across, otherwise she'll just keep coming back, thinking that nothing is wrong. Trying to slowly shut her out or give her the could shoulder never works either; she never picks up on the former, and the latter just infuriates her. She won't understand why a person's being cold towards her, and it frustrates her. A frustrated Kyou is an angry Kyou--one that resorts to yelling and using her fists to communicate as opposed to trying to actually sort things out.
That isn't the only time she'll resort to using less-than-acceptable ways of dealing with things, however. Just about anything that stumps Kyou ends up getting broken in some way or another, whether it's a puzzle, video game, or school project. The only thing she has some semblance of patience for is any kind of athletic activity, but even then it's iffy sometimes. Now, while she's aggressive enough when it comes to dealing with difficult tasks, Kyou is utterly merciless when dealing with someone who's hurt or could potentially hurt a person she holds dear. Or anyone, really. Being a firm believer in equality and self-expression, it really ticks her off when people push others around for something as stupid as their appearance or personality. She will not hesitate to get involved in any bad situation, and give the bully a good "what-for", complete with yelling and maybe a few right hooks. Kyou is fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and overly protective of just about anyone who needs help, whether or not they want it.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
Kyou's isn't quite sure what to think of it. On one hand, she thinks it's awesome because it promotes same-sex couples and fully supports them, urging the rest of the world to do so as well. That being said, she's also of the opinion that the whole thing has turned into more of a popularity contest as opposed to openly displaying one's love for their partner, and that's something she just can't get behind.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
She wouldn't be against it, but it isn't her number one priority. Whatever happens happens.
What does your character think of Chokone Manatsu and Shizuka Myūzu, the current etoiles?
While Kyou definitely doesn't know either personally, she respects and almost admires both of them for being brave enough to showcase their love to the world. From what she's seen and heard about them, she thinks that Chokone is pretty cute, and that Shizuka is pretty cool. She prefers to make no conclusions about either, however, as she hasn't had a chance to speak or interact with them, and thus has only rumours and gossip and her own gut feelings to go on, none of which are overly reliable.
What does your character think of the other schools?
Kyou doesn't quite get the rivalry between Miator and Spica, but it makes competitions more interesting so she isn't too bothered by it. Outside of the rivalry, though, she doesn't like Miator much; it seems a little too stuffy and stand-offish for her taste. Too much like her mother, if anything. She thinks Le Rim is cute, but maybe just a bit too cute. The pink doesn't do wonders for her either.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Kyou can't recall a time where she and her mother have ever gotten along. The two have been in a constant battle for the past nine years, and have pretty much ruined what little of a relationship they used to have. It started when Kyou decided that she didn't want to be the "proper lady" that her mother was so dead-set on her becoming, and destroyed every dress and skirt and blouse that she owned. Her mother retaliated by buying her nothing but dresses and jewellery for every holiday, and Kyou responded by throwing her table manners out the window, so to speak. Things only escalated from there, with Kyou doing everything her mother hated, and her mother doing everything Kyou hated. Both girls were determined to get what they wanted, regardless of the consequences. After two years of fighting, Kyou's father finally intervened. He didn't like the way either one of them was behaving, and attempted to get them to come to some sort of compromise. Unfortunately for him, he had very little impact on the situation, and eventually gave up.
When Kyou was around eight years old, she discovered tennis. She fell in love with the sport immediately, and after bothering her dad about it for a few weeks, he agreed to let her start playing (much to her mother's chagrin). It was then that she realized just how much she enjoyed sports. Phys Ed in school was one thing, but playing outside of school was something else entirely. Within the next little while, she picked up and tried out some of the other sports, becoming particularly interested in volleyball and baseball. Kyou also made a number of friends through these activities, something she hadn't managed to do very well in class because of her lack of understanding of social norms. The kids she met through sports were, for the most part, very welcoming and kind, which made it all the better.
The next few years passed peacefully. Kyou and her mother had taken their fight "underground" so to speak, making sly jabs here and there but not being completely outright about anything. Things were pretty good, and Kyou ended up playing for her junior high tennis team. However, shortly after the start of her third year, Kyou's father was offered a promotion that (predictably) required him to move a number of cities over. Kyou wasn't too pleased about this, but her mother was overjoyed, knowing full well that it would be incredibly easy to cut off communication between her daughter and her daughter's "unruly" friends. So they jumped a couple cities over, and Kyou decided that she'd had enough of living with her mother. Instead of going to one of the local junior high schools, she persuaded her father to let her transfer to St. Spica, as it had a wonderful sports program. He hesitantly agreed--somewhat afraid of invoking his wife's wrath--and so off Kyou went. It wasn't until she was gone that her mother realized what was going on, and the two haven't spoken since then.

Sample Post:
The bus was empty, save for her and the driver. He had given her a strange look when she'd gotten on, one mixed with disapproval; classes were in session, after all, and the only kids who were out at this time of day were the ones that caused trouble. The suitcase she was carrying probably didn't help either, but Kyou didn't pay it any mind. She wasn't doing anything bad at all; in fact, she was headed to school. Her father wasn't able to drop her off, since his work was in a completely different direction, so she opted to take public transport instead. That, and it might have caught her mother's attention.
The corners of her lips pulled up into a smile at the thought. Her mother was completely clueless that Kyou had transferred to Spica, not a local junior high school. Kyou almost wished she could be at home to see the look on the woman's face as it was revealed that her daughter had just run off, and had no intentions of coming back home. Ever. Heck, she probably wouldn't even call home, and she doubted her mother would ever call her. Her father was the only one with an open line of communication, so to speak, and that was just fine by her. Well, at least that was what she had managed to convince herself of. Truth be told, Kyou didn't really know what to think of the situation, having always pushed the conflict between her and her mother away, preferring not to delve into it. Things like that had a habit of bringing a person's mood down, and if there was one thing in with world that Kyou hated more than frilly dresses, it was being in a bad mood. As such, she avoided them like the plague, and that was the end of it.
A rather large bump in the road jerked the girl out of her thoughts, and almost out of her seat as well. Shaking her head to clear it, she cast a glance out the window, and what she saw delighted her. The hill loomed above the rest of the city in all it's glory. At this angle, Kyou couldn't see any of the buildings, as they were hidden behind the trees. Settling back in her seat, she could barely contain her excitement as the bus drew nearer and nearer to her stop.
