As she spoke, Sadie listened. And she took notes. She mentally digested the information as smoothly as she could. Vivian wasn't some idle layabout or some crazed woman with directional issues. She was a dancer and a singer, and from the sound of it, she was pretty confident in her abilities.
That's something Sadie could respect.
The respect remained to her knowledge alone however, though if one paid enough attention they may see her smile for just a moment. And then she was asked about herself. Oh boy...
"I never knew my father, and my mother? Well... Long story short, I was adopted by an Italian chef. He taught me everything I know. "
... Is that seriously all you're going to tell her? Come on, she just poured herself out at you.
"I've been cooking for as long as I've been happy. But before I would cook, I would keep my mouth shut and my head low out of fear. I suppose... That's why I don't talk much. Residual effects from my birth mother. But I don't need to say much. I'm by myself near 24/7 and would not trade it for the world."

Blue hues narrowed for a split second as she took in the faint grin on the girl's lips. Mentally making a note to get that smirk to last longer next time. It was true that she wanted to make everyone smile, but the fact that it was so hard to make Sadie show a glimmer of emotion.. Well, it would make the victory so much sweeter.
"An Italian, hm? So you can make all sorts of amazing pastas and desserts.."
Her voice trailed off as she practically started salivating. Food was definitely a weak spot for the dancer. She could never turn down a plate even if she had just ate a five course meal. How she remained as small as she was is a mystery, but the long hours of practice probably helped a bit.
She zoned back in on Sadie, trying not to wander off into the glorious land of food. Thankfully catching all she said without having to ask her to repeat herself. Viv pursed her lips at the last part and shifted the bag of apples in her arms. Alone, huh? Well that was likely to change whether Sadie wanted it to or not.
"Did you know completing a task with another person is scientifically proven to give more satisfaction than doing so alone? And being around other people can break the habits of non-talkers. Plus, I can add a little music to your cooking, even if I just watch. Things go faster with music. I am at your disposal, Miss Sadie."
Aaand, while trying to be slick, she bent at the waist in a bow, forgetting the sack in her arms. This caused a few of the apples tumble out. Suprisingly none hit the ground though. She let out a cute little eep and snatched two in her hand and the other ended up balanced perfectly on the toe of her shoe. Proud of herself for not letting a single one fall, Vivian beamed a goofy smile at her partner.
"Got 'em!"

As if she cared about hearing this same speech about togetherness and nonsense again. She got enough of this as it was. She was almost glad for the interruption when the other girl tripped and caught herself, it made her feel much better to not be in the middle of the topic beforehand.
"Nice catch." she continued on that vein, ignoring the previous one entirely. "I shouldn't be surprised a dancer has great reflexes."
Hmm...
Well, might as well bring something up, and this was as good as anything else.
"I've been seeing you in the paper." she began. "Dancing with my Student Council president, rumors of a dance crew, that sort of thing. Why don't you tell me the truth? Papers exaggerate a lot. What was the nature of you dancing with her? Is this crew going to be trouble?"

The two in her hand were dropped into the bag before she swung her leg, to get the other fruit into the air. She ducked a bit and watched the arch until it landed softly on top of her head. Even though Viv couldn't see it, she kept her gaze upward as she walked along.
"Oh, with Gilda? She just stopped by at one of my practices. And that little reporter.. Jill? I think that's her name. Anyway, she seemed to be stalking Gilda and started writing. I don't exactly like when people just watch. Dance is meant to be shared. So I drew them both in. I don't know about this dance crew. It would depend on the interest in it. I've been kicked out of school once for starting a crew. I like this place and would rather not leave. So.. no it won't cause problems if it ever happens."
Her head bent forward and the apple dropped in with its brethren. A smile touched her lips.
"I didn't expect her to actually write about it though. All it was was a little practice. I mean, I could understand talking about Gilda, but why meantion me? Seems silly to talk about someone no one knows."

"On the contrary." she offered, happy her bait had been taken. "You were dancing with a campus celebrity, AND nobody knew you. The combination of those things usually leads to gossip. Lots of it. Tabloids love this stuff."
Tabloids indeed. There hadn't been one in a while, and that's because I decided to halt the gossip letter until we had some more participation on site. Otherwise it would just be some boring lie rag rather than a good general spot to talk about the site as a whole. Your move, guys.
Anyway, Sadie had little interest in being in the paper herself, so she kept her head low. As she did with everything else. As she always had. But she read them, and she knew some things happening around campus. Maybe she could spark some discussion about that?
"I hear there's a complete halt on live concerts from that DJ here, and that Spica is going power crazy. You're a Spica, what do you think?"
This was just distractionary smalltalk.

"Well, truth be told, I'm not all for gossip. I'd rather people see with their own eyes than accept someone's word. An exaggerated word at that. So whatever you read in there, just forget it, alright?"
When she glanced over at Sadie, her expression was completely serious before she let a crooked smile pull up one side of her lips. Too keep her hand busy for the last little jog of their walk, she pulled out an apple and spun it in her palm.
"I expected them to be haulted.. With her loss of voice and all. How can she preform if she can't talk? It's difficult with the style she's made for herself, but I think she could do it. It is her choice though. We all need a break from time to time."
Her head tipped to the side as she gazed down at the crimson fruit in her palm. "I don't know. About Spica, that is. If my classmates are, they're keeping it to themselves. I don't read tabloids. I don't really talk to many people from my school either. class is time for work, not chitchat. Afterward, I'm more focused on making myself better. I won't be at this school forever. I have to be ready for life."

There was a surprising amount of content in that last batch of dialogue she could agree to. Maybe this girl wasn't so bad after all. And the day was nice so far, weather and all. Plus, she really needed this errand, so having an extra set of hands was helpful. Still, distance. That was key. She couldn't let anyone get too close. Not for any dark reason, not even for a good reason. She just preferred her loner status. So, to uphold it, she had to maintain safe boundaries.
"Understandable and respectable." she commented. "I trust you'll be smarter than the common rabble then. I may call on you for future favors."
That's not at all what the entire paragraph above you said to do, Sadie. Why are you disobeying me?
"Because I want to."
Ha. Now you said that out loud. Have fun explaining that, and the sudden light redness on your cheeks I'm putting there. Do. Not. Mess. With. The. Writer.

The smile on the dancer's lips only seemed to grow as she watched Sadie from the corner of her eye. So she was starting to break through that shell, hm? She tossed the apple back into the bag and slid closer to the girl by side stepping. Her arm looped through Sadie's, giving a hint to the strength she hid beneath her clothing.
"Favors, huh? Does that mean I get payment in return?"
Of course she was only teasing, even if Sadie would take it seriously, so before the girl could reply, she continued. "If so, then your company would be more than sufficient. And samples of your food."
Vivian then caught sight of the growing blush and she stepped in front of Sadie, cutting off their progress. Her smile turned to a frown. Sadie never blushed.. Maybe she was getting sick? "Are you feeling okay?" The taller girl dipped her head toward Sadie, gently pressing their foreheads together. "You're pretty warm." As she spoke the soft scent of apples blew across the girl's face, but Viv pulled back just as quickly. "How about we drop these off and take you to the nurse?"
