Moving in was presenting an interesting challenge: sharing a room. Having never shared a room before, Hinata was a little anxious about how this whole roommate thing was going to work. Especially when all she currently knew about her roommate was a name. Hikari. That at least, made her giggle, they did have similar names. She'd already dumped her bags on the bed that seemed unclaimed (well, that side of the room was empty and undecorated so it was probably her side now). Her roommate wasn't in, currently, so Hinata decided to take the chance to work on unpacking things some.
Humming to herself, she unzipped her large suitcase and started pulling out the larger items like her laptop and the pictures of her family she'd brought along. The pictures were quickly set up along the back of the desk with the computer in front of them. School supplies quickly found their homes in the various drawers in the desks, and her school bag rested against the leg of the desk closest to the door. That done, she smiled at her handiwork before walking over to her bags again, this time to actually start putting her clothes away. Before she could actually start on that, however, the door opened.
Tensing slightly, Hinata took a deep breath and turned around to face who she assumed was her roommate. "H-Hi there! I'm Hinata Ise, your new roommate!" she smiled, tilting her head slightly to the side. "Um... I hope we can get along!"

Stumbling was probably the best word to describe how the newest Suzumi on Astraea Hill was progressing down the hallway to her dorm room. This had not been the best day for Hikari's fragile sensibilities. It had been the fault of her Host Club membership once again, and the events which had led to her feeling so overwhelmed were predictable. After her experience with the very friendly purplenette a few days ago, she'd dove right in again. This time she'd offered to tend to a girl who nobody else on staff wanted to speak to. Weirdly the girl had been very interested in hugging and practicing massages. The thing that'd stressed her out was being asked to massage the guest, which for whatever reason Hikari just hadn't been able to do. Especially since the girl had a lot of really specific demands for where she should be massaged. Too much too fast and Hikari had run straight back to the cub office, twitching nervously as she clutched a bag of emergency sweets to her chest.
So she'd been excused early from Host Club to recuperate, and that just made her feel embarrassed. All of the other girls who had more experience at Host Club were working so hard and she was just spending her time flailing about helplessly. Maybe she'd have a better day tomorrow. For now she had a vacant expression like a zombie as she appropriately shuffled into her dorm room. Nobody had moved in yet so she was going to have to munch on sweets alone again until she felt better. That is, until she heard a voice call to her from inside. Slowly Hikari turned her head, still slouching as the girl spoke. A girl! In her room! Which meant she had a roommate! Instantly Hikari perked up at the chance to make a new friend, moving over to meet the girl who seemed to just be moving in.
"Hinata-san, eh? Welcome.. to the world of.. um... Suzumi!" Hikari proclaimed, her arm sweeping dramatically across the landscape of their room until it pointed at her messy half of their desk. With that she giggled and held out her bag, "Want a snack? Consider it a welcome present!"

Probably thankfully for Hikari, Hinata hadn't noticed the girl's zombish shuffle. She'd only seen the her roommate perk up and greet her. Giggling at the dramatic gesture and speech (as if her roommate was on stage right now), Hinata smiled and reached for the bag extended to her. "Thank you! I'm glad you're willing to welcome me. I was hoping I would get someone nice, and you definitely seem the part!"
Unwrapping the candy and popping it in her mouth, Hina was a little disappointed that it wasn't sour, but hey, free candy! A thought ran through her head and she quickly rushed over to her bed, pushing her bags down to the end, leaving plenty of space for them both to sit, and Hina quickly clambered on the bed and gestured for Hikari to follow her. This was what friends did, right? "Come sit down if you'd like! So, um, what clubs are you in? I'm in Theater, Drama and Sewing!" Just the mere mention of her favorite club and obsession made her start quivering and she was about five seconds from spouting off some of her favorite playwright's more famous lines. Her heart nearly started pounding as she realized that her roommate might very well be in the theater club with her, and that she would have someone to practice lines with and quote the Bard's works at!

Hikari was incredibly enthused that her roommate was so enthusiastic about giving a proper welcome. Compared to the girls she had so far attempted to host at the Rose Garden in Lulim, Hinata was much more easy to talk to. She just had a warm, welcoming feeling about her that made the Suzumi girl's stress melt away. Only hugs and sweets had that kind of effect on her so it was pretty special that someone could cause it upon their first meeting. Friends did a lot of things from what she'd seen, but talking was definitely on the docket. Plus the girl liked the candy so much that she hurried to clear space on the bed for Hikari to join her! How nice! With that invitation extended she took her seat next to Hinata, almost flopping down as some exhaustion from the Host Club disaster caught up with her.
"I sure hope I'm nice enough to live up to your welcome. I've never had a roommate before, but you're really nice so I think this'll work really well!" Hikari responded, then tensed a little as the subject of clubs was raised.
"That's a lot of clubs, I'm impressed! I'm only in the Host Club so far.. and I'm not very good at it, though I'm getting better! I think!" Hikari added, hoping she'd be able to make a connection with her friendly roommate, "But I'm pretty artistic and I'm interested in acting for sure! Have you done any performances yet?"

The pale green hoodie Hina was wearing flared up as her roommate flopped on the bed beside her, making her giggle. A little disappointed she didn't have a roommate in her favorite club, she did realize that the girl could join later, as she only did have the one club. "Oooooh, that's awesome! I don't know if I could do that, but it sounds fun!" she grinned at the other bluenette, glad she'd already found a friend here.
However, when Hikari mentioned she liked acting, Hinata couldn't help but let out a sound that sounded suspiciously like "Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". That alone was enough to earn the hostess Hinata's friendship. As if she hadn't already. Quite literally quivering with excitement, almost bouncing, she flailed her arms momentarily before beginning to talk again. "I love acting so much, it's just so much fun, what's your favorite play, oooooooh, do you like Shakespeare, can we read some of his stufftogetherohmygodI'msoexcited!" The pitch of her voice rose almost embarrassingly as her rant went on, but at this point she was too excited to care.
She'd likely blush intensely and apologize later on when she realized how crazy she seemed.

Hinata was a really energetic person from what Hikari could tell. It was only a matter of moments before that energy become positively infectious. Any thoughts of the failure at the Host Club melted away like chocolate in her mouth as she felt revitalized by the enthusiasm her roommate had for acting. Even though she wasn't an actress herself she was a great admirer of certain actors, most of them foreign. She hadn't done any stage acting let alone acting at all but that didn't mean she was going to turn down the chance to throw herself into something that seemed exciting. What sold her was the squee her roommate made at being told that Hikari was interested in acting. Without knowing why she was also flailing her arms as the other bluenette did so, mirroring the excited actions of her new friend. Then she sat there staring at the other girl and trying to think of how she could explain her favorite movie. Not really a play but definitely something she could translate into dramatic terms.
"Play? Well, I do have a favorite.. dramatic story... if that's what you mean. It's set in the largest city in a powerful country.. an imperial city if you will. Four intrepid souls with the ability to combat spirits work together to protect the populace and battle against an ancient deity bent on the world's destruction!" Hikari explained, her voice getting ever more excited as she explained the premise to her roommate, "I've.. um.. never read Shakespeare but I'd love to try it! You're welcome to read with me any time in fact!"

All things considered, Hinata really was quite energetic in general. It was just... Well, we'll just use a popular phrase from American culture to describe how she felt about her beloved playwright and his works: it goes up to 11. So exited was the bluenette from Kyoto that she didn't even realize that her roommate had flailed along with her, even as she started to catch her breath from her little rant.
Admittedly, she wasn't surprised that Hikari's favorite work wasn't a play, it wasn't that common outside of her little theater circles, but still it would have be awesome if that had been the case. However, the girl's description of the story did intrigue Hina quite a bit. It sounded fascinating and heroic, and that added up to something awesome in Hina's brain. She really loved heroics and heroes in general, so to hear of a story that seemed to revel in its heroics definitely interested her. "Oooooh, that sounds really cool, Hikari-san!" she said, grinning at the girl. A moment later, though, that grin faltered and her hands came up in front of her chest, fidgeting nervously.
"Um, you don't mind me calling you by your first name, right? I'm sorry if I overstepped there." Her insecurities and general lack of skills with people came to the fore again as she nervously waited for confirmation that she'd done something wrong. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and brought her hands back down to rest on the top of her legs, resting them on her shorts and nervously pulling the corners of her favorite hoodie into her fists.

Hikari hadn't worn herself out quite as much as Hinata during their flail-fest, but she still felt some lasting effects of it. Namely that she was as hopped up as if she'd just drank four cans of cola in rapid succession with coffee as a chaser. Her roommate seemed realy fun, even if it was going to take some real effort to get to know more about her favorite writer. Of course she recognized the name as being a famous author, but she hadn't been exposed to his works before. The bluenette from Hokkaido blushed suddenly when her roommate called her by her first name. Already? She supposed it was what friends did but she still was a little surprised at how quickly they'd moved past family names.
As she watched the other girl hopefully she noticed Hinata become nervous at the sudden use of familiar terms as well. Hikari felt bad about feeling so embarrassed about the familiar terms and fidgeted nervously herself. So they were close enough friends to use familiar names now.. and that meant there was no reason she shouldn't do the same. Really if Hinata wanted to do that then Hikari would take it even farther just to show it was okay! Hand shaking nervously she hugged the other bluenette from the side and pulled herself closer; friends hugged all the time, from what she'd seen, so this was probably okay.
"Of course it's okay, Hina-chan! I mean, Hinata-san.. er.. you know what I mean.." she giggled anxiously as she gave a little affectionate squeeze, "We're friends, and friends use first names. There."
Then she added, "I'll even try out the drama club with you then. Just because we're friends and I'm interested and all that.. I just hope I'm classy enough to do acting."

Honestly it was probably a good thing Hinata had already slipped into her anxiety and was distracted and didn't notice Hikari's blush. It really wouldn't have helped for that to have been registering in her mind too. Of course, being hugged wasn't exactly the reaction she had been expecting. Amber eyes flying wide open in shock, she blushed at the affectionate nickname Hikari accidentally gave her.
She found her arms working around her fellow bluenette and nodded slightly, if Hikari said this was what friends do, then Hinata didn't see any reason do disagree. After all, Hikari probably had more experience with this kind of thing, what with her being in the Host Club and all. Lightly giggling, a happy smile found its way onto her face, utterly delighted that she had already found a good friend here at LeRim. "Y-yeah, you're right." Of course if this was what friends did, it would definitely suffice for physical activity, what with the way her heart was pounding in her chest right now and the way she was flushed.
Extricating herself from the embrace, her grin fully returned as Hikari offered to join the drama club. "Oooooh, yay! You'll have so much fun, Hika-chan!" The nickname spilled from her lips entirely unintentionally and she blushed bright red and slapped a hand over her mouth. The hand slipped away a moment later as she remembered what the other bluenette had just said. "You don't mind if I call you that, right?"

Many things were common among friends so far as Hikari could tell from her thus far brief time at Lulim. The Host Club had definitely enlightened her to all sorts of things that friends could do. Hugging was one of the most common gestures she'd seen being exchanged between companions. Others hugged so close that she wondered why they didn't get hot as the weather was warming up. Still others apparently kissed each others' cheeks and that wasn't seen as weird at all. For now she figured just hugging was good enough since she had only just met Hina and everything. She blushed at the nickname her new friend suddenly gave her though she didn't reject it at all. If anything her shy smile said she appreciated it as a sign of their budding friendship.
She managed a giggle at how Hinata seemed to be so concerned about what Hikari thought. Given that Hikari was also concerned about what Hinata thought, it was nice to see she wasn't the only one who was nervous. She tapped her fingers nervously on her own knee as she wondered what she should do or say next. It was challenging to be put in that situation. Not the same kind of weird awkwardness that surrounded her Host Club experience, thankfully. More like she wanted to be friends with the other bluenette really badly and didn't want to screw this all up. What could she do to show that she really wanted to have an exciting time their first day of being friends?
"It's a really cute name, so.. yeah, it's fine!" Hikari responded with her best smile, then she had an idea. She shot up to her feet and rushed over to her bookshelf. Of course she had something she could share! Pulling the script off the shelf with emphasis she announced, "Here! We could try reading a script together right? That would be fun, and I'm sure it'll help me practice my acting enough that I'll be classy for the whole club!" Hikari held it out with both hands, bowing at the waist as she offered it to the thespian bluenette. The script's title? Ghostbusters.

It was a significant relief to the socially awkward bluenette that she hadn't overstepped any boundaries or done anything wrong by accidentally giving her roommate a nickname, and a cute one at that. Hina was very much liking her new friend and roommate, and was thrilled that she seemed to be much more skilled in, well, for lack of a better term, 'Friending' than Hinata was. On the whole, this was going much better than she had expected. Hinata had actually expected to screw this first meeting up some how and be friendless for a little while before finding someone who didn't mind her lack of social skills.
When Hikari leapt up and dashed across the room, Hina immediately reacted by reaching out after her, about to call out that she was sorry, only for the other bluenette to dash back and drop a thick stack of paper in her waiting hand. "Ghostbusters?" she wondered aloud, confused, wondering what on earth 'Ghostbusters' could be. Fortunately, it clicked a moment later. "Oh! Is this the story you were talking about?"
Flipping through the early pages, Hinata found herself confused and lost by what was going on. "So, this is in New York?" she asked, trying to remember where in the world that was. "That's in... Europe?" A confused (and possibly a little sheepish for not knowing this) expression adorned the girl's face as she asked the question, hoping she didn't seem TOO dumb.

Hika was incredibly excited to see what her new friend would make of the script that had been sitting on that shelf since the Suzumi girl's arrival at LeRim. She absolutely loved the script and the accompanying movie, but she hadn't had time to really flip through it recently. Knowing a lot of the lines by heart definitely helped decrease her reliance upon it. As she watched the other bluentte flip through it Hika was bouncing in excitement. Maybe this would be another person she could get excited about the script and possibly turn it into a play or something! It should be noted that she wasn't figuratively but rather literally bouncing in excitement at that possibility. Not many girls she met were into American movies and even less had heard of this one. Seh frowned when Hina seemed confused by the script rather than excited. She stopped bouncing as she moved to read the script over Hina's shoulder - maybe if she could point out something funny, her friend would appreciate it more?
Then Hina asked a very good question, which made Hika frown as she gazed up at the ceiling and thought it over. Where exactly was that place? Finally she looked back to Hina and answered, "I don't think it's in Europe... I think New York's in Canada or something. It sounds like it anyway..." Then she started bouncing again as she excitedly explained, "This really is the story I was talking about, Hina-chan! It's about a trio who have proven that the supernatural is real and set out to make a business of protecting people from it! And then they stumble into the reawakening of an ancient Mesopotamian god who's bent on the destruction of the world! It's exciting and funny and I really think it'd be a cool play or something to do!"
