Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
With a Buddhist for a father and a Christian for a mother, one can imagine how the children would end up. While Celeste doesn't have much in the line of a faith to follow, she hold one thing at heart, something that she's followed since she was little- something very simple: Be good. Direction and discipline from her parents was one thing, but the magical girl heroes she had was a whole other. Multiple positive traits were instilled in her between the two- honesty, perseverance, and a desire to help the weak were the cornerstones of her development.
Of course, when you're so hopelessly optimistic that you believe, at the root of all things, humans are inherently good and are all equally capable of good things, you'll end up juuuuuust a little naïve and gullible. You know, just enough that you can be tricked, ripped off, or otherwise made fun of. This was and still is the case with Celeste. She's honest, and she tries her very best to believe that everyone else is. Though there are people that are bad, there's ultimately a cause for that, and she believes, when the cause is resolved, they'll be entirely above the line.
Bullies have always bothered her- the strong preying on the weak. She's felt that it's her responsibility to step up to them and level the playing field. Even today, if someone is picking on or teasing someone, Celeste can't just sit by and let it go on- consequences be damned. Believing herself justified, and believing that justice always triumphs over evil, she never flinches from these kinds of conflicts. It's led to a number of nasty fights, but she's always come out on top- though typically a little bruised.
This, of course, led to a whole other issue. Celeste has a bit of an invincibility complex. She believes that she's backed by the cause of justice, and, with her perfect winning streak, she thinks she's unstoppable. This has led to her complete disregard and immunity to common sense. Which has also led to a number of interesting situations- one of which being her current medical issue.
In regards to her condition, Celeste honestly does feel embarrassed and self-conscious, which is why she's gone through great lengths to master the art of casual and effective dressing and moving. The only other thing that embarrasses her more than that is being in dresses or other girly clothing. She doesn't have an issue with her gender identity- she just doesn't think she's cute. On top of that, wearing outfits like that makes her feel that she can't be taken seriously- a knight or a hero wouldn't be wearing a showy dress, would they?
About the only things regarding her body that she does find confidence in are her height and her hair. At thirteen, she stands at five foot seven. It's a blessing from the Western blood coursing in her veins, as are the glorious blonde strands of hair she has. She'll gladly take a punch to the face, or a tusk to the abdomen, but God forbid you try to touch her hair. She's fiercely protective of it and washes it twice a day, brushing before and after both times, as well as after waking up and before going to sleep.
So, to summarize, Celeste is a girl that desires only to be a good person. Her drive for truth and justice, though, makes her a bit naïve and reckless, and she does lack common sense. She's very self-conscious, and actually easily embarrassed despite her stupidly strong body. A golden giant with a heart of gold and a fist of steel. She considers herself a knight- or a hero- but she's much more girly than one would think if they only consider her outer appearance and fierce front.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole? A position held by two that, on paper, are tied together with mutual love and truth and faith in each other? While the silly politics and lying and other nasty things that go on about the selection process can be done without, Celeste thinks the general concept is very nice- something out of a fairy tale.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? While Celeste has no intentions of running for it, she would not be against it if she had someone by her side that did.
What does your character think of Shizuka Myuzu and Chokone Manatsu, the current etoiles? A fairy tale example of knight and princess, really. She's not too sure of her feelings on Shizuka, simply because knight figures are typically harder to read, but Chokone is fairly easy to determine as being a pure girl, she believes.
What does your character think of the other schools? A good rivalry is a nice way to have a friendly competition, so Celeste is perfectly fine with a bit of conflict between Spica and Miator. At the same time, she can understand why others would want nothing to do with it, so Lulim's stance of neutrality is something she acknowledge and appreciates, but refuses to accept.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Celeste's family was Japanese in origin, but there was plenty of foreigner mixed in a few generations back on both sides. So when an otherwise fully Japanese family was blessed with a brightly blonde child, they weren't too surprised. It's also why she has a definitively Western name. The girl was pretty big- and grew healthily like a weed.
From the get go, Celeste was a powerhouse. She could run and play all day and typically had a few reserves left. If she put her mind to it, the girl could power a battery. Or five. On top of that, she was raised in a household with a Buddhist and Christian for parents, so she had a defined sense of morality. Add in that she watched Magical Girl series left and right, among other things, and it's only natural that she'd want to become a magical girl and save the day from evil using the power of love. Or friendship, moonlight, or some other nonsensical thing.
Of course, she wasn't delusional. She knew better than to expect to seriously develop magical powers. So, instead, she went for the next best thing. If she couldn't become an amazing magical girl or witch and use magic, she'd just become an amazing knight and use brute force. She often got into some rough tumbles with bullies in elementary school- became a sort of hero among classmates when she took on a group of five bullies. That kind of success goes to a person's head. Especially when they constantly rise up and succeed. Makes them think they're invincible, you know?
Well, in some cases, it's fine. Like hers. After all, even to the present, she hasn't lost a bout yet.
After her finishing elementary school, Celeste's parents thought it might be good if all the kids were exposed to another culture for a year or so. So, they called some relatives living in the States. From twelve to thirteen, Celeste was there. Got a good grip on English. Learned how to use a gun and hunt. And it was there that she had the ultimate battle- the most exhilarating battle the girl had had to date. It was not against a man, though. No, it was against a beast. While hunting with her uncle, she found a boar. Or, rather, the boar found her. She pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. The boar charged.
Now, an individual with common sense would dodge, or run, or, in some way, attempt to avoid damage or escape to safety.
Thing is, Celeste lacked common sense. Still does.
So the girl grappled with the boar. Surprisingly enough, the girl actually held it back- sure it was small boar, but she still neglects that fact. The first charge was repelled. Both sides regained their ground. That was where things got nasty. They charged. Celeste's footing was bad, and, as a result, she took a tusk to the stomach. It was a pretty bad injury, but nothing that would kill a person immediately.
And, as mentioned above, Celeste has never lost a bout.
Rather than giving in at that point, the girl used the situation to her advantage. Leaning in and wrapping her arms under the bulky beast, she effectively performed a suplex on the beast. The force of the impact, combined with the grip of Celeste's innards holding the boar's neck in place, effectively offed the beast by snapping its neck. Of course, the reckless action also cause the gored girl's wound to widen. Despite assurances that she only needed some bandages, and despite her struggling, she was brought to a hospital.
While the injury was pretty nasty, nothing major was damaged. Of course, thanks to the area and the means of fixing up her insides, there were some. . . complications. There was some scarring, and fever, and other things. But the biggest one, and the one that actually affects her to the present, is a case of urinary incontinence due damage to the bladder and muscular dystrophy caused by injections to that region. To the present, much to her chagrin, she's still required to wear protection- that is, a diaper- in the event of her inability to hold it in.
Apologies were given, and the like, to her parents back home. In all actuality, though, the parents weren't too bothered- they took it in stride. Heck. They thought it might have even caused Celeste to chill a bit and actually start acting like a normal girl. Boy, were they wrong. Recovery aside, there was nothing stopping the girl from gallivanting about town, actively seeking new challenges. Deterred? Hell no. She fought a boar hand-to-tusk. And won, at that! She did take motions, though. With a bit of practice, she could go about however she liked, in most of her usual clothes, without any suggestion that there was anything off about her attire.
Now, at the present, her parents decided it best to try to smother the girl's adventurous habits- for her own sake and ability to integrate with society after graduating. Because of that, they sought out an all-girl's school with a history of producing fine ladies. Astraea ended up being the facility. Though Celeste did have the final say. Kinda obvious, given that she ended up in the most physical school there.

The distance between Celeste's knee and the dirt was ridiculously short. What was simple stretching for her was unreal body movements to some of the more laid back Spica girls at PE that morning. Her figure slid from a stretch to the left to a stretch to the right, one leg still fully extended while the other bent and formed a small block between her body and the ground. It was kind of cute, in a sad way, that they cringed in reaction to what she considered normal stretching. It showed they weren't quite fit. Or limber, at least.
Standing straight, the blonde stretched her arms above her head. The girls that were watching visibly relaxed- it was something they considered to be a “normal” stretch. Then Celeste leaned backward until she was able to walk on all-fours, belly up. It was to fully stretch her abdomen muscles- not to show off or creep somebody out. Still, as she casually walked around like that, she did get some rather amazed stares. Some were surprised she could move like that. Others were simply surprised she could stretch like that. The attention was a bit embarrassing, though. She could feel her cheeks burning a little thanks to the staring.
It usually wasn't that bad. She was used to sticking out. If it wasn't her height, it was her hair color. She almost always stuck out in Japan. That was normal. But here, some of the stares sent chills down her spine. She wasn't sure what the deal was. It just made her feel a lot more self-conscious than usual.
