Is your character on the Student Council? - No. Although this was a position Cho might have once been considering, she doesn't really feel like she has a right to such a position anymore. Though in the past as the uke etoile she had some responsibilities within the council, she never actually became a member.
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president? She's pretty sure she knew Shun Sando, once upon a time, but then again there were a lot of people she knew before, so its hard to tell. Even if they did know one another, its doubtful that she'd remember. Regardless, Cho has always admired those who have been able to handle council duties as well as school work, and she assumes that the other will do a very good job.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Cho used to be a very shy student, and because of this shyness she would do her best to stay out of peoples way. She's always been very sickly and weak, and used to blame the shyness on this fact. Chokone was always known for her big heart and strong sense of right and wrong, and though this big heart is still inside of her somewhere, it's buried deep these days. of course she still sticks to her morals and is profusely generous and kind to all, it's just that her previous 'spark' seems to be missing now. Where she used to be a hopeless romantic who would live in fairytales, now she grounds herself firmly in reality. To say she's grown up would be an understatement, and few would link that doe-eyed little princess she once was to the stoic and sheltered young woman she is today. Cho fears getting hurt, less so physically since with her clumsiness she's used to to that, but emotionally she's afraid. What use to be just plain 'shyness' around people is perhaps now an anxiety centred around her emotions and the fear of making herself vulnerable again. She hates how clingy and needy she used to be, and she hates even more knowing that the need to be looked after and protected still lurks somewhere inside of her. Her personality may have changed a lot on the outside, but deep down she's still a deeply loving soul with a lot of compassion. Her fondness for sweets is perhaps the one thing that hasn't changed, but the stuffed animals and make-believe stories have been firmly put away.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole? As a child Cho used to adore the idea of this title, had a fantasy in her head of a fairytale type romance with a 'prince' by her side. Nowadays she absolutely loathes the Etoile position and everything it stands for. She'd realised in her time at Astraea that the position was nothing but a popularity contest, and caused a lot of drama and pain to the people who participated. She's heard rumours of an Etoile 'curse' and having suffered the effects of this position first hand, she partly believes this 'curse' to be real.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? Is that a trick question? Cho herself used to hold the Etoile position, but it's not a time she likes to remember. All the Etoile title ever brought her was heartache and anxiety. Herself and her partner were blissfully in love before acquiring the title, and she had naively hoped to bring back meaning to the Etoile competition that had become wrought with drama. However after the pair won the title, things started to fall apart, and they saw less and less of each other due to thier responsibilities and workload. She was eventually forced to part ways with her seme Etoile counterpart when she moved away. She would never want to hold this title again.
What does your character think of the current etoiles? (Will answer when they get elected!)
What does your character think of the other schools? Cho is, as she always has been, neutral to the rivalry going on between the schools. In the past she had many friends from Spica, and a few in Miator too, so she's happy to mingle between the three. Of course Lulim will always have a special place in her heart though.
~History~
History before:
Chokone was born as an only child, into a highly respected and wealthy Japanese family. Her parents Iro and Suuna were thriving business owners, and the Manatsu's lived in a big house in a rural area that was secluded from public view. She grew up mostly alone in the family home and rarely saw her parents because they were always out working, or at special social events. She was brought up by her beloved au pair from England, Ophelia Lawrence. Cho was quite sickly as an infant, but luckily since her family was rich there was no issue about paying for her treatment, although as a result she is quite a fragile girl. Even now, Cho suffers from an immunodeficiency meaning that her immune system is generally weaker than average, coupled with mild bouts of Dyspraxia, making her clumsy and prone to accidents. She never knew it back then, but she grew up isolated and with very little concept of reality, confined within the princess-like perfection that was her home. Of course it seemed right that the only child of such a wealthy family should go to one of Astraea's schools, and Cho picked Lulim because she didn't consider herself athletic enough for Spica and feared the strictness of Miator.
History at Astraea:
First Year: When Cho's year started out she was the same as ever. Far too shy to talk to anyone, she spent most of her first year alone. She didnt really make many friends, and her illness became steadily worse, spending a large amount of time in the infirmary. This little one is very much still lost in her daydreams and fairy tales. She never got on well with her room mate Dione, in fact they were always fighting. Eventually Cho gave up trying to make friends with Dione, the two simply coexisting, so she is glad to be staying home this year. Cho run into many upperclassmen, but never got to know any of them as she was too fearful. The library was one of her favourite spots during the school term, and it's here that she met two Spica students. Zephyr was one of the first she met, a very peculiar girl that Cho is afraid she might have offended. She also met Miyuki in the smaller Spica Library, when she was feeling quite sick and ventured in there for shelter. Miyuki seemed nice, but Cho didnt meet her much after that. The key people of the year where Shizuka Myuzu, her biggest crush so far and object of her daydreams, and her companion Noir Lei. The three met on confession bridge of the Lulim ground, when Chokone heard Shizuka playing her flute and was mesmerised by the sound. Noir also heard the music, and that is how they met. Cho now finds herself having an internal conflict as she moves into her second year, her heart confused as she has a puppy-dog crush on BOTH of these girls. She has no idea how the relationship will progress or if they'll even show any interest in her, but she always has hope.
Second Year: Cho took summer classes in the holidays to catch up on the time she had missed due to poor health in the previous year, but this meant she was pretty much absent around school grounds. After such a long absence, Cho feared that Noir and Shizuka had forgotten her, and reserved a place for them at the back of her mind. Those memories where brought to the surface when she made friends with Kaida Inuzaki, an elder Spican who Cho was certain had feelings for her. The little one rejected these feelings, heart still reserved for either Noir or Shizuka, but the fresh wave of loneliness was painful. Over half of the next year passed uneventfully, with no word from either of the elders. She spent her time in the cooking club making cookies, and happened across a first year named Ryo, but never saw her again after that. Cho then put these same cooking skills to good use at Christmas where she helped to host the Lulim breakfast for all of the students, something she enjoyed doing very much (Even though it attracted the attention of a tomboyish Lulim named Naomi, who made Cho feel uncomfortable). She briefly spent time with her ex-roomate Diogne Agatha outside of school at the Mall, but Cho's mind was otherwise occupied by thoughts of her crushes from last year. Any hopes of seeing them again seemed dashed until Cho took a nostalgic visit one snowy day to the very bridge they'd met at, where who should she meet but Shizuka? Unfortunately Cho's Dyspraxia kicked in and her clumsiness caused her to slip on the ice, bashing her head. Shizuka helped her recover from this injury, and as a result the two grew close yet again. The two are now running for the Etoile position together, since Cho hopes it will bring them closer and doesn't want to lose her again.
Third Year: Cho and Shizuka won the Etoile title, and throughout her third year Cho had to face a lot of difficulties and changes. Not least of all was the sudden amount of attention she got because of her title, and it was really difficult and frightening for Cho to get used to such popularity. She was of course overjoyed, and had every intention of bringing the meaning of love back to the Etoile position, with her beloved seme counterpart at her side. Things seemed to go smoothly at first, and Cho was happier than ever, especially now Shizuka held her heart officially. But she knew she had a lot of responsibilities now also. One of the first things Cho had to do, was convince her parents and her au pair that she was well enough to return to the Strawberry Dorms. Living at home limited her access to the school and made her duties as Etoile even more complicated, and though she knew her family had insisted she return home due to her health, Cho herself felt she was ready to do this. Though they eventually agreed, it only served to make things more complicated. Her new room mate Sosuke Nikaidou seemed nice enough and had good intentions, but she was more than a little bit intimidating and overbearing. Rumours started circulating that either Cho was cheating on Shizuka with her room mate, or that Sosuke was terrorizing and bullying the 'innocent' etoile. Though for the most part people believed Cho to be the victim and her reputation as the sweet uke remained untouched, neither of these stories were true. Cho had other things to worry about than a few silly rumours however, since the stresses of the Etoile title seemed to be putting a huge strain on her love life. Shizuka seemed distant and forever busy because it was her last year at Astraea before graduating, and Cho spent most of her time dreading the day when they would have to part. for one night she was able to push these concerns and fears aside: the winter ball. The ball had been spectacular and she had spent the night in Shizuka's arms, dancing and laughing and feeling lighter than air. Many people cooed about how they looked like a prince and a princess at the ball, and it was certainly the highlight of thier time as the Etoile pair. Sadly, what goes up must come down, and shortly after the winter ball Cho got some grave news. The Manatsu's would be moving to America where her father had been offered a once in a lifetime job position. It was ironic that Cho had spent the entire year fearing Shizuka's graduation, when in the end they parted much earlier than that, sharing a tearful farewell just before Cho was whisked away by her family.
Fourth Year: Technically what would have been her fourth year at Lulim, Cho had to adjust to a new school, a new country, a new language, and overall an entirely different way of life. She no longer had her au pair to guide her either, for Ophelia had returned to her own family in England when they'd sold the Manor. Adjusting to life in America was extremely hard, especially considering she was pushed into it so suddenly with little time to prepare. Form the moment the Manatsu's got there, it was clear they were not getting everything they'd been promised. Having given up thier large rural home, they were now living in a cramped and dingy apartment building in the middle of a noisy city. Her father remained the optimist and continued to promise that things would get better for them, kept on saying how moving there had been such a great opportunity. But he was blind to the needs of his wife and daughter, both of who were extremely unhappy. Chokone tried her hardest to fit in, but she knew her place was back in Japan and back on Astraea. At first she tried to stay on contact with some of her friends, posting once or twice on the Astraea Blog in the hopes of staying in touch. Of course time difference was always an issue, and eventually Cho became 'out of sight and out of mind'. Facing the relocation issues, whilst also dealing with a broken heart after having to split with her beloved Shizuka, she sank into a melancholy state. She often found herself wondering what Shizuka was doing now that she'd graduated, and briefly hoped that she might see her again. Of course she new it was silly to wish for such a thing. It was during this time that Cho grew up and face reality, but only because she had too. There was no room for her wide-eyed fantasies in America, and she had to learn the hard way that life was cruel and unfair to those who were vulnerable and open hearted. Things only continued to get worse, her family falling into debt and Cho failing her classes at her public school. Her teachers said it was due to a 'language barrier' but truthfully it was because Cho had stopped trying. Iro remained stubborn however and continued to struggle on. When she simply couldn't take it anymore, Cho had an emotional breakdown in front of her mother, confessing that she wished they'd never left Japan. Thankfully Suuna was understanding, for she too absolutely hated it here in America. Her parents argued for weeks on end about it, but Cho's mother eventually did what was best for them, and left her father behind since he refused to return with them. Having recently moved back to Japan, although they're in a new house now, Cho is hoping to regain some sense of herself again. Her mother gladly agreed to let Chokone return to Lulim School in time for her fifth year, but too excited to wait, Cho rushed in early to get herself reacquainted with Astraea during the summer.

I ' M N OT A P R I N C E S S A NY MO RE Porcelain fingers twitched with nervousness around the edge of a seatbelt as the car neared Astraea, her mother behind the wheel and glancing back at her in the rear view mirror with concern. The girl was visibly shaking as they pulled up in the second-hand car, no longer the sleek rolls royce she'd once driven to school in, though compared to everything else that was only a minor change. When the engine cut off, there was silence. It seemed even now there were still communication issues where her mother was concerned. At last it was Cho that broke the silence: "I can't do this. So much has changed! I've changed! I don't belong here anymore..." Suuna sighed, climbing out of the drivers seat and going around to the passengers side where daughter sat. Opening the door, she proceeded to scoop up the not-so-little-anymore girl in her arms. Despite this, Cho's shaking did not subside, if anything it grew worse as she fought to contain tears. She couldn't allow herself to cry, couldn't allow herself to seem weak. Not anymore. She bit down on her lower lip and leaned against her mothers shoulder for all but a moment, before pushing the woman away. "And I don't need you to coddle me! You never did before, why start now?" She knew her words were harsh, and would feel sorry for them later, but at the moment she didn't really care. It annoyed her that her mother thought she could take up the role that Ophelia had once played; the English au pair had been more of a mother to her than Suuna ever could. She was trying though, to her credit, but that didn't make things any better. "Chokone, I know you're scared. It's going to be okay." Her mother spoke softly, in a tone that was sickly sweet and entirely fake-sounding. She was trying too hard. "How can you say that?!" Cho snapped hands clenching into frustrated fists "I was scared when we moved, I was terrified, and you reassured me back then that it would be okay. It wasn't okay was it? Nothing about this is okay!" Her rage at her mother overcame the nerves of returning to school, and abruptly she reached into the car and grabbed her suitcase. Making sure she had a firm grip on it, and casting her mother one last glare, she turned on her heel and started walking. She still knew the way, had it memorized in her head from all the many times she'd wished and hoped and dreamed of being back on Astraea. Even as she finally let tears spill down her cheeks, partly from anger and partly from regret, she did not turn back to wave goodbye. Distantly she heard the whirring of the car as it pulled away, and just like that, she was on her own. | ► 487 WORDS |
