It was cold at first, or at least I think it was. I can't remember the sensations I felt that day. All I know is, I was experiencing things I had not felt, ever. Perhaps, in this life anyway. The last thing to return to me was my hearing, and I was able to fully stand at that point. I felt something cold against my breast, only to look down and see that my skin was healing and covering a large metallic sheet. The next thing I saw was a man who looked strikingly like myself. I was curious, but I decided I should not be asking questions in a situation I could potentially be in danger from.
Besides, he began answering them anyway.
"Saoirse be praised, it worked!" he said, throwing his chart onto the desk I was just laying upon. "Welcome back to the land of the living. My name is Mattias. Mattias Allistair. Can you speak? Tell me your name."
I decided, this might help me figure things out. According to this man, I was recently deceased, and I did not remember such.
"Arceia." I said. "Arceia Aeducan."
"Arceia, I see." he seemed very happy. So happy, in fact, I started to get scared. This necromancer was either an amateur, happy that his spell worked, or he was onto something much bigger. His eyes darted to the metal plate in my chest.
"I replaced your heart with golem parts. Your brain also had a nasty hole in it, but that was easily repaired with a few wires."
He was making it sound like I was a robot. But robotics was a band new technology, there was no way.
"Let me fill you in on what I know about your death." he began. Curiously, I sat and listened.
"You, Arceia, were one of the three Sisters. Zephyrus did away with you when the Skade virus took over your body I found your body t the ruins of the Tower."
Okay, so he had a solid story. I could recall history of our fair world to this point, but there was no way I was the very same Arceia of the Sisters. This, I had to question.
"I can't possibly be that Arceia. I don't remember anything about it." I said, very quickly ghosting a hand to my chest. Yes, I was a golem now. Or at least, half a golem. I should be thankful; this meant I would be immortal. As long as I wasn't killed by anything. I would never get sick, I could survive underwater, and much more.
"Ah, but you are. I have with me a guest who would like to talk to you." before he could even manage to call them in, a woman was at his side. I think she teleported in, because I didn't see her come in. It was June, of the Kohma people. The very same that Zephyrus hunted, and created the Sisters for.
"My lady." I said, managing a bow from a sitting position. No, I don't know how. Please don' ask.
"No formalities, please. Arceia, I'm glad you're okay." she said, a sweet voice accompanying an even sweeter smile. The girl was a saint, in every sense of the word. Everyone looked up to her, ever since she made her name by saving the people of Nefos. I recalled all this information, and yet not a drop of memory about being a Sister.
"June, is it true? Was I really..."
She cut me off.
"Yes. Look into the marks of Torrent, and you'll see."
As I began doing so, I saw terrible things. Screaming, burning bodies, massacred cities, explosions wiping out entire regions and reshaping the face of the entire planet. People begging for mercy from a shadowy figure in a red gown, holding a blade with an apparent magical aura. Blood dripped down an invisible handle, forming a pole. It pulsed as if the blood was coursing through veins, until finally, the last scene, was of June being toyed with and teased, cut open and having the blood licked from the wounds. It was a depraved scene of what very nearly became rape, had none other than Drey Mirroheart come to the rescue of poor June.
The girl behind all of these actions was me.
"I..."
"Relax, hun." June hugged me warmly, placing Torrent back onto her back. "I forgive you. That was not you behind those actions."
Not me? I thought they just said it was me? I had to ask about that one.
"But... You just said..."
Cut off again.
"Yes, but you were under the influence of the Skade virus. Your consciousness was buried within you. I sucked the evil from your body using Torrent, but it was too late. Zephyrus came, and took your life right in front of me."
It was starting to come back to me now. o a degree. Yes, I was conscious for this part.
"I remember now." I said, followed by kissing the cheek of my hero. "Thank you for saving me."
It was amazing, how much of a saint she was. Someone as mighty and beloved as June, could still blush from a kiss on the cheek. No wonder she was considered a hero of the people. Still, the man, Mattias, was very perplexed by the conversation. I bowed to him after standing.
"Thank you, Mattias." I said, offering a handshake to him. He pushed my arm to the side, and embraced me, which I felt was interesting and a little awkward. At least, until I heard more.
"Arceia, we want you to live a full life." said June. "Mattias has a lot to tell you. I will stay for support, and also to confirm with master Drey that you are okay."
Now I just felt very important. Drey 'strongest fighter on the planet' Mirroheart was worried about me. June was worried about me. Mattias was worried about me. I didn't even know the guy, but somehow he had things to tell me. I nodded to him, urging him to continue.
"Arceia, you were orphaned at six right? Tell me what you remember about that."
I was shocked he knew that. But, I wanted to know more. I needed to hear him out. So, I told him what I knew.
"My parents died, and I didn't ever meet anyone from my family after that. I have no memories of anyone, or even what they look like. The orphanage told me I had amnesia of the six years before that because of the trauma."
Mattias sighed, and I was slightly aware of what he was about to say. Just based on the direction the conversation was going, I knew.
"They didn't die. You went missing during a raid on your hometown. Do you remember what it was called?" he asked.
"Doul-Eed." I replied. He nodded, and this was when he pulled up a photo in a frame on his desk. It was old. REALLY old. On it was himself, a girl with an eyepatch, and two adults. They all had black hair, except for the mother and the daughter.
"That's your family right?" I asked, hoping that I was wrong about what he was going to say next. But I wasn't.
"It's yours too." he said. I held my breath, and by the time I realized he was right, I was shaking a little.
"The little girl is your younger sister Jill. She lost her eye while helping father mine for emerald dust. The woman, your mother Emilia. The man next to me is your father, Franz. And I..." he stood next to me, shoulder to shoulder. We were the exact height, and would be the exact build if not for my bust and hips, and he even had my eyes.
"I am your twin brother."
Much as I wanted to deny all of this, refuse this madness as just some absurd lunatic, I knew he was right. Deep down, I just knew. I swallowed hard, and it hurt. June was still here, a concerned expression dancing across her features as she put a hand to my shoulder.
"And where are they? Do they live here too?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Our parents currently live in Magnum's outpost, on Yujino. Jill lives in town, but she's not here right now. As for myself, I live here with my wife Katherine and my son Seig."
Aunt Arceia. Well, this was news to me. Mother and father being alive, having a twin brother, and having a baby sister wouldn't have been so shocking, had I not been brought back from the dead just moments before hearing all of this.
"What of Zephyrus? Does he know of all of you?" I asked, concerned.
"Not a clue." June replied. "I keep him busy most of the time, so he never had time to dig into your history. Not like Drey did. I found Mattias, and told him of your fate. He and I have been hard at work for a month now, trying to bring you back."
People really showing that they cared about me. This has never happened before, and that includes when I first joined Zephyrus as far as I could remember. I was always alone in the world. As a Sister, I didn't even have my own brain. Pre-Sister, I was an orphan. Now, I had discovered a family, friends, and been cared for by two of the world's greatest heroes. They weren't just symbols of peace and hope. They were real people with real feelings, and they forgave my sins as a Sister, even so far a to reunite me with my family.
"I can never repay you enough, June. I can't ever fix the damages I've done either, and I know I've wronged you in the past. Still, you helped me, saved me, and even found my family."
June looked at me like I was giving her compliments she never hears. It was really amazing, how much she does for the world and yet she is still humbled by little old me.
"Mattias, can I meet my sister in law and my nephew soon?" I asked.
"They're right upstairs." he replied. June started up the stairs, and I followed soon after. Mattias was behind me, just in case I was still dizzy and couldn't stand. It was remarkable how much of my memories and abilities had already returned.
We were surprised by Jill as well, followed by Emilia and Franz soon after. Drey Mirroheart, the red king, had brought them here to see me.
I couldn't hold back any longer, and I ran at my parents, hugging and crying. Soon, the entire family joined in, and for the first time in my life, I belonged somewhere.
I was home.
Besides, he began answering them anyway.
