Spring had come and gone, and Summer was suddenly up on them. Bringing with it bright, warm days and warm nights. The trees were in full bloom, and birds were tweeting in the trees. The uniform of the students of Astraea Hill had change to their summer ones, and the students were cheering and laughing and full of the energy of Summer. In all, it was a beautiful Summer.
Etain wasn't laughing or cheering, nor was she running around. Even though she usually enjoyed summer, what with the girls of Astraea Hill in their summer uniforms, she wasn't outside. She was in her dorm, alone. She'd begged her room mate to be scarce for most of the day, eventually bribing her to not be here. Though her room mate had taken the money, Etain knew it was reluctantly; her room mate wasn't the type to happily take anyones money. She also didn't like the idea of Etain being alone, the redhead knew. She worried about Etain, not without reason, Etain admitted. But that wasn't the reason she wanted to be alone. Not that she'd be alone for very long. Some one was coming to visit. Someone very important to her.
Anyone who knew Etain would instantly realise something was not quite right with the girl. Her half of the dorm was almost spotless, which it almost never was. And what she wore wasn't right for her. She wore a simple, grey sweatshirt that was at least two sizes too big for her, and loose blue jeans, both of which hid her figure quite well. Her long red hair was loose and slightly messy. She was also nervous, fretting. She was pacing her dorm, rubbing her hands, chewing her bottom lips, pausing only to glance at the door. She hoped that who she was waiting for wouldn't be much longer, Etain wasn't sure how much more of this waiting she could take.

Overall the transition from the blossoming warmth of spring to the full warmth of summer. Most of the flowers and plants on campus had bloomed; many girls' hearts had done so as well. Excited chatter in many places spoke of the latest gossip about who was seen with who in the library, or who had kissed who! The reigning Etoiles had been re-elected, which was the first such instance Esther was aware of in Astraea Hill's history. With nowhere else to go for the summer Esther had decided to, for the time being, stay at the school's dorms. Her biological parents wanted nothing really to do with her, so there wasn't much for it. getting a message from her girlfriend, on the other hand, had made her ridiculously happy. In any circumstance she would have immediately rushed off to be with Etain in the hopes of raising her girlfriend's spirits or sneaking in a kiss. Her journey on this day had been rather more extraordinary than the purplenette had wished.
The former seme etoile Akemi Aracelli had been bad enough with her masked 'wrestling' and Etoile title belts. Eventually Esther had come to grudgingly respect the now-graduated girl for her positive traits. Rumor had it that there was an even stranger girl at Spica now who had even less respect for real wrestling than the former Etoile. Unfortunately for Esther she'd run afoul of the gril who was dressed in a weird leather jacket with a gas mask and biker helmet. It was hard to understand what the girl had been saying half of the time, but at one point she'd heard 'I am your father!'. That had been enough to start a grappling contest on the spot, which had ended with the masked girl getting pinned to the floor for a count of three. Realizing she was late to meet her girlfriend, Esther had run off after that, ignoring the masked girl's demands for a rematch.
Once she was in the dorms, she sprinted up the steps two by two in order to more quickly reach Etain. How long had she kept the redhead waiting? Too long, she'd guess. That being the case she didn't care about her appearance as much as she otherwise might have. Still heaving from the exertion it'd taken to get to the door so quickly Esther knocked and waited for her lovely girlfiriend to answer. Esther wore a lavender skirt with white lace trim at its hem, a white tank top with a faded floral print and a pair of sandals which were quite inexpensive. Her hair was a bit of a mess, but she was glad that she'd cut it a few months back - it was just about right at its current chin length. Over her shoulder rested a cardboard and tinfoil 'championship belt' she had 'won' from the masked girl. In her rush Esther hadn't realized she'd taken the thing with her.
"Etain? I'm here," she called through the door, putting on her best smile.

Pacing the room, glancing at the clock, Etain was becoming nervous. This was a big step for her, even though she had been with Esther for a fair while now, it was still a big step for her. She loved Esther, and she knew that she would have to tell Esther sooner or later. But she'd told someone what she was about to tell Esther before, and that hadn't gone well.
Etain was beginning to think that Esther wasn't going to turn up, that she'd left her in the lurch. Which would be understandable, considering that Etain hadn't given Esther much warning that she wanted to see her. She'd demanded that Esther come and see her. She wouldn't blame Esther if she didn't turn up. Or even if she wanted to breakup with her. She was about to reach for her phone, to tell the purplette to not come over, when she heard a knock at the door, followed by a voice that brought a blush to her cheeks. 'Oh... ummm... come in!' she called out, put her phone down, turned to face the door. A smile was on her face as she stood in the centre of the room, facing the door.

For a few choice moments Esther wasn't sure if Etain was actually in her dorm room. It had taken longer for her to get there than she'd intended so maybe Etain had decided to do something else? Surely the purplenette couldn't blame Etain for doing that no matter how much it hurt her to admit as much. Then again maybe something unexpected had come up which Etain had needed to deal with. A friend needing last minute help perhaps. Any number of things might've caught her attention and pulled her away from the meeting which had been requested just as hastily. This seemed like it might really be a hasty day for things in general. Although the thought of not being notified of such a last minute change of plans did make her a bit upset all things considered. Someone loved her but wasn't letting her know that things had changed? Maybe Etain's phone had died or something?
Then she got permission and opened the door to see her girlfriend standing in the center of the room. Her beautiful girlfriend who was dressed very casually as if she were hosting a sleepover or something. Esther smiled at the girl who'd made her feel better after two separate cake related accidents. Not the most romantic thing she could think of for a culminating moment of their love, but it was their moment anyhow. She gently closed the door behind her and walked over toward Etain, debating if she should immediately hug her girlfriend or not. Something felt a little odd about the mood, but it was only just enough to throw off Esther's instincts. That being the case she stopped short of hugging but put her hands on the other girl's shoulders.
Mustering her best cute little smile while blushing, Esther remarked, "Etain! It's wonderful to see you.. you wouldn't believe what happened to me on my way here. There are some seriously crazy girls going to our schools.."

When the door opened, and she saw her girlfriend standing there, it almost made the redhead forget about why she'd asked her to her dorm. Seeing Esther standing there, the cutest girl in the school, brought a smile to Etain's lips, brightened her entire mood. Her smile grew as Esther walked over to her, reached out. But the smile vanished, replaced with a slight flinch or pain, when Esther put her hands on Etain's shoulders. Though seeing the cutest little smile on Esther's already cute, blushing face restored the smile slightly.
'Hi, Esther,' she said, trying her best to keep smiling. 'I'm glad you came on such short notice. I... I've missed you.' Even though they saw each other as much as they could, it wasn't as often as Etain would have liked. She listened to her girlfriends story, smiling all the while. Until the end, when she flinched slightly at one word. Crazy. She sighed, swallowed again. 'E-Esther,' she began. 'There's... something... I have to tell you.' She swallowed. 'And it's... not... easy.'
