It was hard to come up with a way to reply to that sort of thing. Most often, these were parting words, not mid conversation words. June tried her best to fill in what would otherwise be an awkward silence, and she did so with more vague word choice.
"I'm really glad I have you." she confirmed. "You're exactly what I want."
Now, where could she take the talk from here? Maybe more random trivia?
"We've got plenty of time here, so don't worry too much about taking a breather. We can afford it. Today's only one day of several, and whether it's close to sunset or not, there's always tomorrow." she was more confirming this for herself. She needed to remind herself that Zephyra was her disciple and temporary room mate for a while longer. "And don't forget, we can do anything at any time. I don't want you to think we only have time for this."

Wood touched against the back of her neck, having awung the sword up and draped both arms over it. She just couldn't stand still. The redhead had always had this problem and it was another thing on a long list that seemed to tick her father off. Zeph bit into her lower lip and shuffled past June to place the sword back on the rack.
"I think I've taken enough swings at you for one day.. Maybe a tour of the grounds, before it gets dark, so I can take a run in the morning?"
Changing the topic seemed to be a good idea. At least for now.
"Uh.. I'll wait out here if you want to change back into regular clothes."
A hand pointed to the door and she just realized she still had the weights on as the movement was a bit more strained. Yet, she didn't bother to remove them. Why not just leave them on? Wear them every waking moment as long as she wasnt showering or something of that nature.

"Sure. It won't take long." she said in reply to the tour idea. "But there's no need to leave. We're both girls, I've got nothing to hide."
As if to show that fact, she went ahead and removed her top without a second thought and changed into her original one, and then did the same for her bottoms. The process was far smoother than putting the armor on, and she had no hesitation that would show anything other than genuine obliviousness.
"Glad I didn't have to tell you to keep those on." she said, referencing the weights. "Come on, It'll be easier to walk to everything from the central part of the castle."
Without asking permission, she grabbed Zephyra's hand and dragged her away from the barn and into the castle proper. They entered through a small entrance on the side of the kitchen, apparently. There were three men in light armor enjoying legs of meat and glasses of mead at the bar, laughing merrily, while the barkeep was washing a dish with a cloth. Sitting by herself was a mature looking woman in a business getup with purple eyes who seemed to notice the duo and glare, but that's as far as that went. June didn't seem to notice her either. It was a cliche sight. From there, and seeing nothing outside a normal medieval tavern to note, they entered the central hallway of the castle. There were two staircases lined with a purple carpet, and a large central area with a giant T in stained glass that glowed a green with the light of the sun resting directly on it. It shined into the center of the room, illuminating the main entrance to the building, and directly highlighted the two staircases by not highlighting them at all.
"Well, here we are. dead center of the grounds. Everywhere is the same distance from here."

"So you've proved.. twice now."
Zeph stared at the door infront of her. She wasn't falling into that trap again. It was rather awkward for her. Certainly not use to anyone being so open about their body. Especially since she had dressed herself from the age of five and never seen anyone else practically naked before her. A quick, but quiet clearing of her throat removed the knot that felt like it wrapped around the base of her neck. Then June was pulling her through the door by their linked hands.
"Oh.. uh. Okay."
Her gaze travelled down to their linked hands and she smiled lightly. While they moved along she managed to look around at their surroundings and barely caught sight of the glare some woman sent their way. Her features twisted up in a puzzled expression, but then they were out of the room and on to other things.
When they stepped into the center Zeph gently released her friend's hand to step forward then spin in a slow circle to take it all in. Her gaze dropped back to June as she smiled.
"Gorgeous."
Now what or rather whom are you referring to, Zeph, hmm?
The redhead bounced up on her toes before she paused, remembering that glare they had just received.
"Um, June. Back in the.. kitchen tavern thing. There was a lady. She didn't look to happy and glared a little. Do you know her?"
Not that it really mattered. Even of June did, she was far too giddy to see the rest of this glorious castle and outside to let someone bring her down.

Everything had certainly been an adventure today. The sun was certainly on the lower side, meaning it was probably close to six, but that wasn't bad enough to stop. No, they'd continue for some time. Up the stairs to the left was an assortment of places to travel, that would wrap back and around to the right staircase, but it wouldn't connect. Same with the right to the left. They both had branching balconies that intertwined with each other but never met up. An admittedly inconvenient but highly defensible design if one were to be attacked. Oh, but then the day soured. "Oh." she sighed. "That's probably Arceia." The woman in question would not appear conveniently right then, but instead a petite looking girl moused her way over to them, and bowed. "Pardon my intrusion." she began, her eyes locking to June, then to Zeph, then between them. They seemed lifeless. "Master Task would like to extend invitation to miss Kohma to attend his esteemed Summer Party which directly follows this year's Crusade of Glory in two days time.""I am she." June said, her own tone shifting to that of some old world woman. "And I accept, on terms as follows; I am permitted to bring one guest, both to the event, and to the prior Crusade." "Guests must be chaperoned.""I have understood this. She will be under my watch." The girl nodded, turned like a soldier, and walked away with each step being directly in front of the prior one. It was a disciplined walk, one that deserved note. "Well, might as well ask before it starts." she shrugged. "Wanna go to the dance with me?" The event was two days from then. That gave plenty of time to explore and continue.

This place was so surreal it was hard to refrain from running off like a child. She even had the irge to offer a game of hide and seek, but it was more likely that she would get lost or barge in on someone or something she shouldn't. So the redhead tried her best to remain cool and collected, which the next comment helped immensely with that.
"Arceia? You mean.."
The slender form of the girl cut off her sentence with her approach. Better not to know what June's rival was doing here anyway. It would be likely they would keep their distance from each other anyway.
Zeph listened quietly, but by time the soldier of a girl stalked away. At least this is what she huessed her to be by her body language.
"Uhm, sure. Truth is, I didn't bring anything to wear to a party though.. if it's formal like it sounds. If there is someplace to shop around here, I could pick something up though. But I'll have to request Luria to come with me."
She smiled a bit at her friend and cocked her head as she explained. "I don't want my date to see my dress before I even wear it."
It was an innocent use of the word, at least. And good reasoning to get to know Luria a little better. In order to change the subject she continued on rather quickly.
"What is the Crusade of Glory?"
As she spoke, she glanced up to the stained glass as she felt the warmth of a ray of light pass over her skin. Zeph's smile grew as she watched the rays play over the large window, making it seem to ripple with life. She had always loved stained glass and had spent a few of her solitary hours in the chapel looking at the displays there of the fine work.

"Yes, I mean that Arceia." she said quickly. "She had best be here on business."
Then came the question of the Crusade. I sense a monologue coming.
"The Crusade of Glory is our home grown festival. As you can imagine, we are living a fully medieval life on grounds by choice. This naturally attracts tourism, and brings in business. The Crusade of Glory is our tourist trap, during which we have a triad of events; Thrown weapons, heavy combat, and a game we call King's Race - Basically a groundswide game of keep-away where the winners of both prior events wear crowns and must outrun those who sign up to catch them."
She had a bad feeling suddenly, perhaps becoming aware of what was about to happen.
"Arceia may be here for the event. If that's the case, she likely knew of this trip and expected I'd be participating."
More realizations hit her.
"Was she here alone? Did you catch sight of anyone else?"

A bit of uncomfortable weight fell on her shoulders, foreshadowing perhaps? She couldn't shake the sense of doom when June explained that it was indeed the Arceia she had been told of. Or maybe it was the idea of so many people being around. But the Crusades still sounded like a lot of fun. Something she would enjoy watching.
"You don't think she would try anything, do you?"
The prospect of cheering on her friend as she took on competing participants made her smile a bit. And she couldn't hold back her words of encouragement.
"I didn't know there would be such a big event, but I'll gladly cheer you on. I'm sure you'll have no problem coming out on top."
That word choice.
"Uhm.. I didn't notice anyone with her. She was just sitting there glaring. Why?"

The hardest part of explaining this was that she knew if she didn't omit details, it would hurt. But at the same time, omitting details hurt too. There had to be some kind of balance here. How could she tell the full story?
"Arceia is alone here then? That's..." she sighed. "She's here for me, there's no way around it. I might think differently if she was with her daughter or family, but no. She came alone. Arceia is really smart - there's no way that's not intentional." a shake of her head. "Chances are she's going to be competing."
"You're not wrong." came a voice from behind June, who visibly tensed and clenched her fists for a moment. Someone was able to shake June.
The woman in question was the same from the bar. Upon closer inspection, she had the Lulim crest as a brooch on her blazer, and seemed to be holding some paperwork. She was fairly young for one in her seat of power - Only about four years older than June upon first glance.
"I'd heard you graduated from my school, and I was proud of you. I'd heard you were finally deciding on a career, and I had to investigate. When I did, imagine my surprise to see you'd be returning home for the first time in years."
"Speaking of pride." June fired back, turning to face her. "Congratulations on your new job, madame chancellor."
"As that title stands, it places me on top of you. You are my employee. Knowing this, we must do our best to work together, no?"
"Yeah. That's why you're here isn't it?"
"That, and I had to meet one of the founders of the Student Police." she finally looked in Zephyra's direction, and placed a hand on the brooch while bowing."A pleasure, you young pioneer. I expect great things."

A small step, brought her a bit closer to June, to the point that their shoulders almost touched. Her fingertips gently brushed the inside of her wrist, willing her to unclench her fist. She knew June wouldn't stay like that, showing weakness to the one woman whom could make her visibly tense just by announcing her presence. So she waited and when her hand uncurled, the redhead slid her own into it in a friendly manner. Palms clasped together with her fingers curling around her hand instead of linking fingers. One that showed support. June wasn't alone facing this woman and though there may be things to fear from her, they would do it together.
The hold didn't last more than a second. Just long enough for her to give a squeeze then her touch retracted. It took all she had not to sneer at the woman when her attention was shifted. Instead she swept into an elegant bow, herself. One arm crossed her chest and twisted, letting her palm be visible as her flingers barely curled toward her chin. The other was tucked behind her and rested against the small of her back. She had read the letter that Raion had sent in and it most certainly did not have her name anywhere on it. This woman had a stock pile of information, but if Zeph had been in her position she would have as well.. So it didn't come exactly as a shock to be known by the Chancellor.
The only one around that could catch the low, almost threatening tone of her voice would be June. It was such a subtle timber from her normal speech pattern that it was practically impossible for one that had never before spoken to her to catch.
"The pleasure is mine, Chancellor. No need to expect, simply anticipate. They will come in do time. I do extend a wish of good luck in the games."
Because you're going to need it.
Of course, she would never say such things out loud. That was snarky. But it felt damn good to hear that in her head. It even caused a quirk of a smile to tug at her lips.

The woman didn't make mention, but she did take note. Such gestures were done between two people with feelings for one another, be it friends or lovers. Whichever it was between these two, Arceia did note that it was a shame. The redhead could do much better, after all.
"So, I can't imagine you're just here to congratulate each other." June began. "Where are Chiyo and Kiwi? Family vacation?"
"TThey're back home. I came here to meet up with you specifically, and request a favor."
Arceia said nothing further, slid a letter into June's hand, and turned to leave. She wasn't one to slack off, so she was probably off to attend more business, whatever form it may come in. She was probably training in all honesty - She hadn't done much at this place in her youth, most of that time was spent with her sisters. This castle was her home for but a single summer, and what a horrid time that was.
"Whatever she's up to, I don't like it." June sighed. "Thanks, by the way. I'm glad you touched me."
JUNE.
"Brought me back to reality. I needed that. "

"Any time.." Zeph let out a slow breath, trying to relax now that they were alone once more. She glanced in the direction that Arceia had disappeared and fought back a shiver. Instead she scrunched her face up cutely.
"Expect great things, my bottom.. She seems rather.. hoity toity."
Her gaze then dropped to the letter in June's hand but before she got the urge to ask her what she thought it might be she changed the subject.
"So.. uhm. Want to continue our tour or call it a night? I'm sure someone can direct me in the morning if you don't join my run. Maybe food.."
After a moment like that how could she possibly be thinking of food? But alas she was a growing girl. One that worked out quiet a bit. That being said, she was always hungry.

"Ah... Right..." June stammered and stared at the letter in hand before putting it somewhere else and sighing. She was not going to trouble herself with that for a while. Instead, she decided Zeph was correct. It was time to get something to eat.
"Yeah, let's go to the Tavern. We can continue later." she nodded, once again grabbing her friend's hand and dragging her back the way they came. The merry trio were gone, but as if it were an RPG there was still someone else there. The soldier girl from before was sipping at something and staring into the table. Across from her was a blue haired girl with a school uniform on, the emblem of it representing Magnum University. They appeared to be friends, but they also appeared to. Not be talkative.
June opted to sit at the bar, and she ordered two legs. That translated into literal pig legs cooked and served to perfection with a side of peas.
"You're gonna be seeing a lot of random faces here. This place represents a lot of things to a lot of people. Its a tourist trap, but its also home. Anybody who has ever wanted to live a medieval life comes here. Its like a medieval peace corps, you sign up to live and work here."

Her head tipped back as she tried something silly. The redhead wanted to see her friend smile. So as she was tugged along by June, Zeph let out an almost howl.
"Fooood!"
Quick steps took her up to June's side and she gently bumped her hip against the woman's. She was giving a bright smile. As if saying don't worry about anything. Just enjoy your time.
Once they were settled at the bar, she leaned against the top and peered around. Taking in all she could. That is until June's voice took hold of her attention and she found her words more interesting than the sights around them.
"They're lucky." Was her slightly shy, murmured response. "I would love to live in a place like this. My father would never let me stay away from home for that long though.. I'm really surprised that he allowed this actually. I should be pouring over the accounting books. It must have been Bridgette pestering him until he relented."
With her elbow pressed against the counter she cupped her chin in her palm.

"You're a young, lively little thing. To see you spend your life managing money would be tragic." she threw out there, nodding to herself. "But then, I suppose that's not my place to say. All I know is you make a great partner and I'd hate to see such raw, untouched potential go to waste."
June, she has experience. What are you talking about?
"In any case, eat all you need. We can tour some of the indoor assets after since its getting a bit dark. "
