Age/ Year in School: 15/Fourth Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Elsa (Frozen)
Hair Color: Pale blonde
Hairstyle: Messy, yet somewhat elegant; often kept in a side braid with her bangs pushed back
Eye Color: Blue

What kind of clothes does your character wear when she's not in uniform?
Annika’s wardrobe consists mostly of black, white, and icy blue pieces. It’s nearly impossible to get her to wear anything that isn’t one of those three colors. She’s very particular about her style, having been told again and again that women are meant to be seen and not heard, and should therefore always look good. As such, much of her clothing consists of fancy dresses and skirts. However, within her lies a true rebel, someone who wishes to break free of all control. Knowing this, the family maid helped Annika sneak some of her more...risque (in her mind, at least) items into her bags whilst packing for Astraea Hill. Crop tops, leather jackets, skinny jeans, and spiked heels are among her true favorite attire. She also sports a cute white unicorn pendant (http://www.iowlyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/sugar-bunny-shop-best-friends-unicorn-necklaces.jpg) which she never removes. Her younger sister held the purple one (and was buried with it around her neck).
What Sports/activities is you character involved in?
Fencing: Yes
Choir: Yes
Archery: Yes
Is your character on the Student Council? No.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
As a member of a politically influential family in Germany, Annika was trained to behave like royalty from a very young age. She is calm, reserved, regal, and experienced in grace and poise. But beneath this elegant appearance, Annika is quite complex; in truth, she is incredibly troubled with her emotions, a trait that stems from her constant suppression as a child. When she was younger, she was quite playful. She and her younger sister Emerie were always together, whether causing mischief or playing games. However, ever since one of their games indirectly led to her sister's death, Annika began to live in fear of herself (having been told time and time again that her wild imagination and knack for inventing games had been the cause of the tragedy). As a result, she desired isolation from everyone she cared about out of fear that she would hurt them, and chose to keep things to herself rather than communicate or be around anyone. Despite this desire, it is clear that Annika is sensitive towards other people and their well-being (given the fact that the main reason for her self-induced isolation stems from a desire to keep people safe). Unfortunately, despite her moral reasoning, she often comes off as aloof and cold towards anyone who tries to befriend her. But really, that just isn’t the case. There is a liberated side to her personality as well, though at this point it would take a miracle to bring it to the surface. Without stress or fear of hurting others (in other words, when she finds herself in a place where she’s completely alone, even if only for a little while), Annika reveals herself to be strong and unafraid, yet with an air of elegance still surrounding her. Armed with a sense of freedom, she is confident in herself and her abilities, letting them roam free with grace and beauty, all the while no longer worried or daunted by her restraints. Her strong love for creativity blossoms, often expressed through music (and, more rarely, painting). She is a talented pianist, gifted with a lovely voice as well, which she utilizes whenever she can (in other words, she loves to sing). All in all, the REAL Annika (not the plastic version her parents force her to be) is sweet, caring, fierce when she wants to be, elegant, protective, kind-hearted, mysterious, creative, intelligent, and playful. You simply must be determined enough to break through her walls to see this.
What does your character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
She has mixed feelings about it. She has a natural distaste for positions of authority, but the fact that it allows for girls to freely express their love makes it slightly more appealing to her.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
While she would love the opportunity to publically express her love for someone (something she’d never been allowed to do back home), she’s also afraid that the stress of the position would bring harm to any relationship she might form.
What does your character think of Kagami Hiruko and Maiko Suzumi, the current etoiles? Annika finds Kagami’s timid nature quite charming, to say the least. And she admires Maiko for being able to retain her kindness despite having been placed into a position of prowess (in her experience, power and prowess never did anything but turn people into greedy monsters).
What does your character think of the other schools?
Despite the rivalry between the schools, Annika holds no animosity for Miator or any of its students. In all honesty, she finds the rivalry rather stupid and pointless. She greatly envies the freedom the Lulim students appear to have, and wishes she’d been allowed to go there instead.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Spica.
Annika was born into a fairly wealthy German family. Her father was a politician, and a talented one at that, able to manipulate even the smartest of fools into doing his bidding. Her mother was no better, constantly using her looks and her body to get what she wanted. When the couple gave birth to their daughters (first Annika, then Emerie two years later), they saw an opportunity to expand their horizons. They raised the girls to be perfect little princesses, hoping to someday marry them off to the sons of potential business partners (which would, of course, significantly increase their wealth). When they looked at the girls, (particularly Annika, because she was older), they saw dollar signs. Nothing more, nothing less. And no one had a better understanding of that than Annika. She resented her parents for their lack of love, and for their constant stifling behavior. She wanted to be free to be herself, something her parents would never allow her to do. She wasn’t allowed to befriend anyone her parents did not approve of (in other words, anyone who wasn’t the child of an influential family). She wasn’t allowed to act in any way that might be seen as “improper” for a lady. She was forced to fit into a cookie cutter mold of the “ideal child”. And she absolutely hated it. Her only relief was found in her younger sister Emerie, whom she considered to be her best (and only) friend. The two were always together, with Annika always inventing new games for them to play. One day, however, things went horribly wrong. The girls (at the time, ages 9 and 7) were outside playing a game in the snow. Annika suggested that they pretend to be mountain climbers, a game which they both thoroughly enjoyed. As always, the large tree in their backyard played the role of the mountain. Emerie, who normally stayed on the ground (since Annika was worried about her getting hurt), decided on that fateful day to try for the first time. Long story short, her “mountain climbing adventure” ended with a terrifying fall, a broken neck, and the loss of a life. Emerie died before EMTs even had a chance to get to the scene. Losing her sister was devastating for Annika, and after her death, she became withdrawn. She refused to interact with anyone, terrified that she would end up hurting someone else. Frustrated with their daughter’s refusal to open up (mostly because it inhibited their chance of marrying her off in the future), her parents decided to send her to a seemingly well-known boarding school in Japan (she’d been studying Japanese for years, as the families of many of her potential suitors were stationed in Japan), hoping it would snap her out of her self-induced isolation.

It was a beautiful day. The air was crisp and the sky was blue. The snow glistened beautifully in the light of the sun. And yet, something just felt...off. Annika couldn't quite explain what that something was. All she knew was that there was an odd feeling in the air that didn't seem to want to go away. 'Maybe I'm just going crazy...' The blonde brushed her worries aside and quickly skipped down the stairs. She was in the middle of a game with her darling sister whom, she knew, did not like to be kept waiting.
As she approached the sliding glass door, she noticed something rather peculiar. She’d left Emerie standing on the patio...but she was gone. With some caution, she slowly slid open the door, tentatively stepping out into the yard. 'Where in the world could she have gone…?' Her baby blue eyes scanned the yard curiously, trying desperately to catch a glimpse of the red-haired seven year old. "Emerie… Where are you?" She called softly, nerves slowly creeping into her tone. "Come on, Em, this isn’t funny anymore… Come out, please!" The girl pleaded, taking another tentative step into the snow.
Slowly and carefully, she began to walk towards the tree, the sick feeling in her stomach growing worse by the second. She wasn't sure what was going on, but it was making her feel incredibly uneasy. "I know you’re still out here... I know you couldn’t have gone--" She stopped dead in her tracks, her voice caught in her throat. There was a figure on the ground beneath the tree, clearly hurt. A figure with long red hair... 'No...It can't be... This is a mistake... It's gotta be... There's no way that's her...!' Annika paled at the sight, her heart dropping into her stomach. Her entire body was frozen in fear. Eyes wide, she just barely managed to call out to her. "E...Emerie...!!!”
