So I am going to write a Power Rangers series here after having been inspired by watching The History of Power Rangers. A show done by the web reviewer Linkara. I plan to use this not only to share the idea but also to display my style of writing and how I approach storytelling. Feel free to comment and give feedback, I thrive on feedback. Let it begin...
Power Rangers: Title to be determined
So the original first season had 60 episodes and the number has been dropping ever since, but I think more is better, at least to start wit. It will leave a lot of wiggle room. So there will be 60 episodes. Normally I would number them in a list form so I have a visual aid to how much work there is to do and if I had it graphed out I could move plots and incidents to pace out the story better. I will slip one in at the end of all this.
First I have my over-arcing plot. Humanity has been enslaved by evil and now serve them out of fear. Unlike other Power Ranger series, this will take place after evil has won. I think 7 districts will be easiest to work with, and a secret 8th to be revealed later in the season. 7 is a good number and will fit will with the 5 rangers from each district with a mysterious sixth ranger. The commander character will be from the 7th district and the eighth will be special. Each district will have their own leader and they will all act as an evil council of sorts. That's a lot of villains to keep track of but I think if I give each one their own spin I can make them memorable, especially if I avoid a large number of underlings like other Power Ranger series have had.
The end of it will involve the sacrifice of the ranger powers to purify the evil/destroy it/whatever in the same vein as In Space did. I will not be doing a team up episode as fun as that would be because I don't know enough about the recent groups to be able to handle it. Besides, this being a darker turn I don't need people asking why previous rangers didn't step in to save the world.
So five rangers, red, blue, yellow, green, and pink. The sixth will probably be the black ranger or maybe the white ranger, colors are not set in stone. goine in order of colors I listed, red is male, blue is female, yellow is female, green is male, pink is male. It's an easy joke but one I plan to work with and evolve into a personality examination and deal with pink as more than a gender stereotype. I am still not sure for the sixth ranger position but it leans toward male as a classic assignment.
With this incredibly bare bones idea in place, I move on to the next step.

To save space, I will divide the 60 episodes into sets of ten.
1. Introduction of the rangers 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Finishing off the bad guys
That's about all I start with. It's not much I admit but it covers the important bits I think. The first episodes are going to be multiparters. It's a big thing and I can't really have filler because the team has to be built.
1A and B: Something to do with red Basically these two episodes introduce the world with a narration that will be shortened and played before every opening. The opening stinger will be a red ranger fighting a monster and not doing well. The opening happens and the battle continues for a bit longer before the red ranger falls. He is demorphed to reveal an adult, ragged, probably mid thirties. He is led through the streets and dragged onto a stage, they would be gallows in a western as people gather around. In the crowd is a young boy. The monster talks about the evil of rebellion and the price. Then the monster swings its staff or sword and the demorphed red ranger dies in a shower of sparks. The monster checks his wrist and then his pockets but can't find the morpher and starts shouting. The boy steps back in fright as the monster starts to threaten the people and his foot bumps something in the sand. It is the morpher.
Fade out and cut to x years later. The boy is now a teenager for the proper age demographic. Stuff happens, the monster is hunting him down. The Red Ranger morphs into the ranger suit from before but it's badly damaged even before he fights off the minions of the season. They're humanoid with completely smooth features, nothing where the face should be, no hair, They may wear insectoid armor though. Things happen and the red ranger escapes from the district, pursued by the minions and the monster. Right when it looks like all hope is lost, a masked man appears and destroys the minions before the monster runs away.
The masked man becomes the commander of the rangers for the season. He invites Red to the secret forest base. Red goes with him and the command base is a cross between nature and technology with it set up inside and under a gigantic tree. Commander upgrades/fixes Red's morpher while Red explores and returns it to him. Commander tells him the weapons have been restored to it but other features would need more time. Talk happens and the episode ends as Red prepares to morph.
1B begins with the monster and the minions patrolling the city, invading houses, looking for Red. They come out of one and Red stands in the middle of the street. He says something cliche like "Looking for me?" and the monster shouts "get him." The show opening starts. We return to the scene, the last five seconds repeat and the minions charge. When they get close, Red transforms.
This is the first time the audience sees the armor intact and clean. It requires a lot of excitement and the opening music in instrumental will play during it for higher energy. The fight will be minion versus red and while the action happens the monster will call for reinforcements but will receive no answer. The red ranger will stop in front of it while it keeps calling for backup and then we will see the council watching from a magical pool or a screen. Possibly sitting around a screen showing video from a camera high above. Power dynamics will show here. There will be names given, info on who controls which district, etc. In the end, they will not give the monster back up but will give him more power.
The monster starts to glow and grow, Red starts shooting at it while it does, damaging it some but not stopping the process. When things look bleak, his morpher announces Zord readiness. He calls for his zord and it comes. I haven't decided what the zords will be this season but they will be able to fight independently of one another. The battle continues on large scale and Red takes the monster down. The episode ends with Red back at base with Commander. Commander says there are other rangers and it is up to Red to gather them and lead them to battle evil and take back the planet. The episode ends with the screens on the walls showing videos of rangers fighting minions all separately.
So that is an overview of the first two episodes, that's how I summarize. Next I'll try outlining key events so I know when I need to build up and where I can slip in filler.

Episode 1C: Green and blue related
This episode will introduce the blue and green ranger who have been working as a team for awhile now. It will also establish there is some relationship there. They will fight well together but their suits are also not fully functional. Red comes in near the middle and helps them out. Commander fixes their suits remotely and the three of them end the episode with a three on one battle with a zord versus a giant monster with many arms.
This episode will also establish the different district environments. Maybe one is a desert city, one is a forest city, a lake city, etc. Not sure yet.
Episode 1D and E: Yellow related.
This one will be a two parter as well as the rangers have to sneak into a new district to find the source of the yellow energy. Blue will lead the mission since she snuck into Green's district and has the most experience. They have some trouble but are helped by a girl their age who is obviously to the audience the yellow ranger. She doesn't morph even when they get caught at the end of part one, she's more concerned with helping the people of the district. Part 2 involves them convincing her to help and she finally morphs to protect her district, stepping in front of an attack and showing off that personality trait. Her suit is fixed and a monster is fought.
Episode 1F: Pink related
Commander informs the team of the Pink Ranger who is morphed and goes around doing the vigilante style work. Appearing from nowhere and disappearing just as quickly. The Rangers go to find Pink and are basically only looking for a girl. The rangers stumble upon an assault going on or something and prepare to step in when Pink shows up. Pink fights silently and doesn't say anything. He takes out the monster until it grows. The others step in and help. Pink's suit is repaired, the monster is defeated. Pink reveals his gender back at the base. They are obviously curious so he says "Well when the last pink ranger passed it on to me, she told me it wasn't pink and that when I had proved myself enough it would finish turning red."
Episode 1G: Zords
This episode has one of the main 7 villains come down. This one isn't very popular with the others, they say he's too soft. He does not control any of the districts the rangers are from, his is District 4. The group learns to fight as a team, they still are badly beaten but their combined zord is unlocked and they fight one of the 7 big bads to a close defeat. However he lets them live and disappears. The rangers regroup and wonder why the villain left. The other council members do too. The District 4 boss says they aren't causing him trouble and that he only wanted to prove that it could be done. The others would have to take care of their own problems.
The next few episodes are filler.
Character time, fighting styles are apparent and must be kept in mind for future episodes. Red is a good leader for guerrilla style attacks and keeps the party in check. Blue and Green are good at infiltration and sabotage so they'll work for those. Yellow is the one who wants to find peace but will defend anyone in trouble. She will lead on missions where one person is rescued or protected and will stand as moral compass a lot of the time. Pink is the one who wants to be a more active figure. Going out, being seen helping, and probably is the most likely to go out alone to fight baddies in his spare time. Pink and Yellow devoted episodes will likely have them working alone rather than with the team. Helping people and all that.
You may notice that I haven't properly named anything so far, that is because I suck at names. Names are often the last thing I come up with so...yeah.
Next, I'm going to have a proper episode timeline I can edit.

Now I look at the blank and fit in character building and all that, mostly for Pink, Blue, and Green since they don't have key episodes around them yet. This is the entire season at a glance though, the most important bits and the bits I need to remember. I used an excel to space them out so nothing seemed to close to another thing of the same sort. I think I even spread out the opportunities for new toys so that there's never a lull, an important thing for a toy based series like Power Rangers. Later I'll come back and sort out which district villain sends a monster for each episode and all that as well. Yellow's martyr act seems late to me but there isn't much room before it so I'm not sure, any opinions so far would be great.
