"Through the rays of the glorious sunshine,
sending down such a blood red light
Now the animals slowly retreat to the shadows, out of sight
Arid winds blow across the mountains,
giving flight to the birds of prey
In the distance machines come to transform me, day by day
Only love is with us now, something warm and pure
Find the peace within ourselves, no need for a cure"
Nature's Sacrifice
Cast- Kendall and Aeon
Setting- The Infinity Void
Words- 2292
Notes- This had to be done. Nobody on this site has a grasp of what Kendall actually is, despite her being my second oldest character on the site. Her true nature is yet to be seen, and then it hit me; There's a lot of potential in making my girls meet their Kohma counterparts.
"When the wind is slow, and the fire's hot
The vulture waits to see what rots
Oh how pretty, all the scenery
This is nature's sacrifice
When the air blows through with a brisk attack
The reptile's tail ripped from its back
When the sun sets, we will not forget the red sun over paradise"

It was a void. A giant nothing inside of nothing that lead to nothing and contained nothing-- Except Kendall. A peculiar place to be, no doubt, but strangely comforting nonetheless. There was something drawing her to this place- A familiarity that she had not expected that night. What was this- A dream? It felt real enough. Was it an out of body experience? No, if that were so, she wouldn't be feeling so secure. Something else then, but--
"Hey cutie." came a voice oddly familiar. From the voice's direction emerged another, louder sound- A roar. It was a monstrous sound, but oddly enough, it felt right. Like the roar was happy. "About time you showed up. I was waiting for hours!"
"And... You are?" Kendall replied. That was when she realized that the void wasn't just her blindness- It was a legitimate void of nothing. She realized this because within that void, she saw-Yes, saw a woman walking slowly toward her. She had a grace about her like no other- Each step was perfectly aligned in front of her body with the last, making her seem to sway like an elegant woman. What threw her off was the woman's outfit- She seemed dressed as if in some sort of fantasy novel or anime convention. All of them were welcome sights though- Because they were sights. The woman had pink hair, and milky gray eyes. Her top was composed of a leather vest, a pink undershirt that clung tightly to her, and oddly enough, some shoulder plates. Steel armor, if her eyes were to be trusted. They probably weren't but still. She also had on a hat that resembled a pirate captain's hat, and a skirt that seemed to bellow as if there was a wind behind it. All of it was a black and pink dual tone, and it blended well- Especially with her hair dropping to the small of her back.
"I'm you." the woman said. "Well, I was at one point."
"Pardon?" Kendall kept her hands behind her back, as if trying to feel for the possibility of a wall behind her. If things got ugly, she wanted to know she could run- How odd that she had that instinct about her right now.
"And... That roar?"
"My eyes." she smiled- A beautiful smile, really. One that showed honesty. A snap of her fingers, and from behind her came a small dragon. It was black, fit on her shoulder, and seemed very intrigued by the little girl in front of it.
"His name's Valor." said the woman. "And you can call me Aeon."
"I don't understand... Where are we? Why can I see again? How are you me?"
"Ever heard of the multiverse?"
"No..."
Valor seemed to do what probably counted as a laugh, and curled itself around Aeon's neck. It was quite comfortable there.
"Basically, we're the same person in two universes. Because of that, we can meet in this Limbo area- Because this is in between the universes. Making sense kid?"
"Um..."
Not really.
"Valor says you're young looking. How old are you?"
"I-i'm 15... Wait, he talked?"
"Invisible ties, kid. Witches gotta have a familiar right?"
Witches. She was dressed like a pirate captain, talked about being a witch, and claimed to be Kendall from another universe entirely.
"I really need to go to bed earlier..." Kendall said, finally. "Wait. You can't see?"
"Nope. That's what this scaly smartass is here for."
So... The dragon could see for her. And tell her things. Well, Kendall was going insane. That voice in her head finally got to her. Might as well just roll with it right? After all, it felt familiar.
"Alright, miss Aeon, how old are you then?"
"Four hundred something, last I checked. You lose track of that stuff after a while."
"R-right... You look like you're not even 40 yet."
"Ah, humans. I forget your lifespans are so short."
"Oh, so I'm not human in your universe?"
"We're kind of Gods, actually."
"Gods. Right."
"Aye."
"And you're a pirate?"
"Aye again."
"So... How high am I right now?"
Valor did his little... Whatever that thing he did before was that resembled laughing again. He seemed to really enjoy Kendall.
"I promise you, this is very real. I've been waiting to meet you so I could tell you about our fate in both universes."
"Oh, DO go on." Kendall was getting snappy now. This was ridiculous, and yet, something kept her here. Something familiar and comforting.
"Well, we die."
"And yet here you are."
"Let me finish, kid. We die, but are resurrected by a guy named Drey Mirroheart. I know you know him."
"He's a family friend where I come from."
"He will save your life in the future. Your mother died recently, right?"
"... How did you know that?"
"I'm you. I know everything that happens to you."
Alright Kendall, think. She knows things that nobody on campus could, except close family, so she can't be from school. She knows a lot about you already, even who Mirroheart is, so she has to have SOME connections to the Kohma.
"And Dayton?"
"Assassinated."
"What about in my universe?"
"Probably murder or an accident. Just keep him away from Arceia and her sisters if you know what's good for him."
"Arcy wouldn't do that..."
And yet, there was something telling her to believe. Some driving force that kept her not only listening, but wary of the stranger's warnings. This seemed a little too real to be a dream, and she was definitely not hallucinating, because she could SEE. So...
"Oh Gods, this is real."
"Now you're getting it."
"Please, what else can I do to protect people?"
"Well, you were supposed to get married and have a daughter, but I see that this universe has shifted your playing field. So maybe your universe can be saved from this stuff yet."
"What else is going to happen?"
"Well, did Freya die yet?"
"That was my mom, actually..."
"Ahh, so many changes to this universe from mine. Okay, things are going to get a little weird from here on out. Freya dying brings about a lot of changes in people- You may notice that bad luck will start to follow you."
"Please, go on about things that I don't already know." chided Kendall.
"I like you already." Aeon approached a bit closer, and gave her a hug. "You'll be at this stage of life in no time."
"So... I'm going to become you?"
"More or less. I dropped the name Kendall when I came back to life, originally so I could fly under the radar and live a new life. But that was over three hundred years ago. Now I just use it because Kendall is such a vague memory to me that I couldn't become her again if I wanted to."
"So... Why a pirate?"
"In my universe, pirates generally go unchecked and roam free. It's a war riddled world, and nobody has time for a few brigands here and there."
"And... A daughter?"
"Yes. Her name is Lilith. I want to tell you about her, but I'm only here to alter bad events, not good ones."
"I'm a lesbian."
"... Right. Either way, that's info you don't need."
"I want it though."
"No sale, kid." Aeon made a sort of weird hand gesture in front of her- She traced a star with her fingers, and then her other hand pressed against it. From that press, the outline she traced took shape- A blue, eerie light forming in the shape of the same lines. It glowed, then faded, then the void faded as well. They two of them were standing on nothing, floating above campus.
"Now, show me who is important to you."
"Um..." Kendall had to actually wait for a few of them to come by, but eventually she did see Naomi.
"That's my cousin."
"Funny, I don't remember that one... Valor, you got anything?"
He shook his head.
"Huh. She must be one of the changes to the family then. What about some others?"
"I've been blind for a long time. I couldn't tell you what they all look like."
That seemed to sink in, as Aeon contemplated something to herself. Valor seemed to be staring into the back of her head, and then her own eyes glowed with a certain yellowish tint.
"Much better. Alright, sorry about that. I was going by valor's description of the girl. Now I can see people for my-- Wait, is that Freya?"
Kendall took a look down, and saw the rockstar, Yo Seioni.
"I don't recognize her."
Then Yo and Naomi met, and kissed.
"Oh! That must be Yo-senpai!"
"What's a senpai? Is it edible?"
"It's like... Um... It's a title. Anyway, I remember meeting her a while ago. We visited mom's grave together."
"She looks JUST like my world's Freya."
"That's... Odd. But then why doesn't Naomi exist in your world?"
"Probably because the actual Freya of this universe is my- Your mother."
Things were definitely getting intricate- As if they already weren't. but hey, Aeon seemed to have total control over the situation, so it was okay. Valor's eyes were apparently hers for the time being, which was an interesting thing for the dragonling to do. Overall though, Kendall was awestruck at the campus. She hadn't seen it in so long. It was beautiful.
"Will I get to keep my eyesight?"
"I... Doubt it. We're technically still in the void, and I think that's why it came back in the first place."
"But then, why didn't yours?"
"My eyes are fake. They got cut out by Arceia ages ago, and Drey crafted these ones for me."
"Arcy..."
"Let me see this universes version of her."
So, the two waited a while. Arceia did eventually come into view, but it wasn't for very long. She seemed to be in a hurry for some reason- then again, she always was.
"That's her. I know I have been blind for a while but I'd never forget a family member's face."
"Huh, so she hasn't turned..."
"Beg pardon?"
"The Arceia of my universe is a serial killer. She goes by Arceia the Ripper. Rumors abound as to when she first became the monster she is, but the truth of it is, she was forced. She was orphaned at six years old, and adopted into being a child soldier. When she turned nine, her adopted father injected her with something that made her rapidly age, and the resulting trauma on her body and brain made her love being hurt, and love to hurt things. It was only shortly after that when she discovered how much she liked killing, and with her father's help, she learned how to literally invade people's minds and torture them from the inside out."
"And my Arcy might..."
"It's a possibility. Be careful. I know this universe has no magic, but if she is anything like the one in my world, she is extremely easy to snap."
Kendall had to take a minute to think back, but there definitely was a moment like that.
"My Arcy was also adopted at six... But the only time I've ever heard of her snapping at anyone was recently, after she was, um..."
"You can tell me."
"She was almost raped. I remember, Chiyo told me all about it. Arcy snapped at her and tried the same thing..."
"Quick question, but, is everyone in this universe gay?"
"Kind of."
"Alright. Well, she sounds like she's dormant right now. Do whatever you can to stay away from her if she's anything but happy- It could get ugly."
Kendall seemed to wake up at that moment- or rather, snap back into her own reality. She was in bed, but zero time had passed from when she first laid down. She didn't know this, of course, because she was blinded once more.
