Name: Okumura Noriko ~ ichigo ~
Gender: Female.
Age: 14
Year in school: 3rd
School Attending: St. Spica Girl's Institute
Partner: None
Room mate: None so far
Appearance:
Hair color: Blond
Hair style: Her hair is usually loose, her wavy tresses reaching all the way down to the small of her back. She spent many years growing it out, and has developed a severe dislike for hairdressers trying to cut her hair. Whenever she's doing sports, she ties it up in a ponytail, but somehow stray locks of hair always manage to get in her face anyway, something that annoys her greatly as it tickles her face (she is extremely ticklish).
Eye color: Azure
Height: 5'4" (at age 14)
Dress: She wears St. Spica's white miniskirt uniform with a pink and blue sweater and a gold bow around her neck. When she doesn't have to leave her room, she likes to walk around comfy clothes such as sweatpants and graphic tees. On the rare occasion she gets to wear something other than her uniform, she usually prefers skinny jeans or short shorts (depending on the weather) with a loose top. If attending formal events, she'll wear a dress reaching just above her knees, along with a pair of heels.
She doesn't wear much make-up as she hates having to remove it before doing sports; after all, mascara and sweat doesn't mix too well. Therefore she usually keeps it simple: some mascara, and maybe eyeliner if she's not planning to go for a run later.
Glasses: No
Personality: Noriko is very impulsive, changing her mind every few seconds and thus being very indecisive. When faced with two or more choices, she will more often than not wear a blank look, hoping someone else will step in and make the decision for her. Not to say that she wants others to decide how she lives her life; she wants to make all major decisions by herself. It's another thing when it comes to what kind of ice cream flavor to choose, or what movie to watch and trivial stuff like that - if they don't mind waiting forever for her to make up her mind, that is.
Her attention span is relatively short, unless something truly catches her interest, and she then proceeds to become obsessed with that something. That's how she became a good runner; she became obsessed with the sport, often going against her coach's advice and running on days she was supposed to relax. When she has her mind set on something, she goes all in in order to achieve her goal. She's very open to new things, and though she doesn't disregard the rules entirely, she follows the motto "rules are meant to be broken" whenever it suits her purpose.
She does her best do keep her grades up, but really, the only classes that comes naturally for her are language classes; all other classes requires a fair bit of studying from her, something she's not too keen on. She is very interested in sports, and has tried several throughout her childhood; her newest obsession is track and field, for which she trains for tirelessly, hoping to make it to nationals one day.
View of the Etoiles: She respects the Etoiles as she knows she should, but doesn't know much about them. (there are none at the moment, so unfortunately I couldn't be more specific)
View of other schools: She isn't biased towards any of the other schools, what with being a transfer and not having a lot of information to go by. However, she envies the St. Lulim girls whose uniforms she finds absolutely adorable - she often catches herself wishing she attended their school instead of St. Spica, just so that she could wear a uniform like that.
History: Noriko spent her childhood moving around from country to country with her parents, both of whom worked as full-time journalists. Because of their line of work she was often left at home in the company of a babysitter or a tutor, and thus didn't attend a regular school. Despite moving around so much, the only language Noriko picked up was English, plus some extremely random sentences here and there. However, she did develop a healthy interest for foreign languages, and she has made it her mission to learn as many as possible.
When it was time for her to become enter her first year, her parents decided to send her to live with her uncle in Japan, her home country, so that she may try having some semblance of normalcy in her life. It was then that she took up running, joining her school's track and field team as a mid-distance runner. Though she was shy in the beginning, not used to being surrounded by so many kids her age, she ended up making some good friends and gain respect from her fellow runners.
Her uncle, however, is a prominent businessman, and just two years after she moved in with him and his family, his company was transferred to overseas. Her uncle and aunt made the decision to send Noriko was sent to St. Spica Girl's Institute, where they hoped she'd be able to pursue both her studies and her running.
Sample post:
Noriko hummed quietly to herself as she pulled on her running clothes, each item of clothing picked up from one of the various boxes scattered around her room; boxes she tried her very best to ignore. Just as she finished pulling her tee over her head, there was a knock on the door to her room. She shouted a 'come in' and a moment later her uncle entered, wearing a kind, but serious expression.
"Do you have a moment?" he asked, eying her current attire.
Noriko nodded. He might as well have said 'your run will have to wait for a few minutes'. The look on his face said everything.
"You haven't asked about what school you're going to be attending," he stated, sitting down on one of the boxes. "Aren't you curious?"
"No," Noriko didn't meet his eyes. Of course she wasn't curious, she didn't want to transfer to a new school.
A knot formed in her stomach at the mere thought of going through the whole friends-making process again. When she attended a normal school for the first time two years ago, she'd been awkward and shy, having no idea what to do or say, what with having been home schooled her entire childhood.
Granted she was no longer that awkward, home-schooled little girl she once was, but the thought of having to start all over again still didn't sit right with her.
"Well, I think you should know, just so you have time to prepare yourself," her uncle's words put her on her guard. Why would she have to prepare herself? "You've been accepted to St. Spica Girl's Institute."
She just looked at him, not understanding where he was going. From the way he'd said it, it seemed she was supposed to have some kind of reaction to his statement, but no matter what way she put it, Noriko was pulling a blank.
"It's one of three affiliated schools run by a catholic organization. It's well-known for the accomplishments of it sports program, which is the reason we decided to send you there-"
"What? You're sending me to a catholic school?" Noriko looked at him, her expression aghast. No one in their family were religious, so their decision both confused and outraged her.
"It's not a catholic school, it's just run by catholics," her uncle explained patiently.
"Either way it's the same," Noriko muttered. She now felt even less inclined to transfer schools. "Anyway, can I go for a run now? It's getting dark, and you know how aunt wants me back home before dark."
"Of course, of course," her uncle quickly agreed, albeit not before glancing at her only half-packed suitcase. "Just make sure to finish packing before you go to bed tonight, okay?"
"Of course," no sooner had she said the words before she was out the door, taking the steps two at a time. He had obviously wanted to say more, but Noriko wasn't going to give him the chance. Once he got started, he could keep on talking forever.
When the late afternoon air finally touched her face, she slowed to a light jog, though only until she reached the corner of the street. Then she turned and picked up speed.
Her feet went thud-thud as they hit the pavement in a comforting rhythm, clearing her mind. No worries ever entered her mind while she was running. She knew she'd lie awake in her bed later, dreading the day after tomorrow where she'd be dropped off at the school, but for now she could forget about it, if only for moment.
