Personality: Kanade is a very shy girl who often likes to keep to herself. In her years at Spica she has kept few friends because of her introverted, but to the few friends she does know, she's extremely kind, caring, outspoken, and always happy, or seemingly so. The bluenette always goes out of her own way to make sure her friends have a smile on her face, often at her own expense.
Kanade is very intelligent and diligent in regards to her school work, but her occasionally her mind will wander off at random times, no matter what she'll be doing, and she'll suddenly become depressed, quiet, having be known to stay in her room for days at a time. She has never told anyone why she gets depressed or what she day dreams about, tending to be very private about her thoughts, even to her best friend, Tsukiko. She's also very private about her feelings toward other girls, most thinking her straight since she never shows any outward affection to those of the same sex
Her interests include music, drawing, and gaming, leading to a very competitive attitude when she's playing with others, especially online games. She likes to draw what's on her mind, putting them in a binder that she keeps hidden away, with only a few she proudly places around her side of the room. In regards to music, Kanade likes to spend hours mixing beats and rhythms to get a mood she wants or likes, not finding herself very good at it, but she finds it fun and a nice challenge. When staying inside gets to boring for her, she likes to go a play soccer, where her more competitive nature comes out, but her introverted nature also becomes apparent, as she barely ever communicates with her teammates, making her isolated from them, no matter how skilled she is.
During her year at Spica, Kanade spent much more of the year with Tsukiko than she usually would, up until the Winter Ball. Having been previously caught up on her past love, she was too busy to realize her own feelings for her only friend at the academy. During the Ball she began to realize this, up until a phone call from her furious mother who found a picture of Kanade and her ex-girlfriend kissing intimately. Her parents, a very conservative pair, were outraged and threatened to pull the girl from school and keep her locked up like they had before. Fearing this, the bluenette locked herself up in her dorm for days at a time, often missing her classes and straining the relationship she had with Tsukiko.
View of the Etoiles: Kanade thinks the Etoile election is a waste of time, unable to see the importance it has to do with the three academies on Astraea Hill. Given her introverted personality, she hasn't really interacted with either of the Etoiles, but has a minor feeling of contempt for each of them, believing the election is a useless competition for power and fame.
View of other schools: She tends not to care about who's from what school, only competitive towards who is on the other team of the current activity she's engaged in
History: Kanade comes from a very strict and traditional family who immigrated to the United States from Japan to start a new life. There, her father became very successful and started a company when she was a couple of months old, resulting in a distanced relationship between her parents, who were constantly busy. When she was young, Kanade was always very energetic, happy, and outgoing, making many friends and acquaintances. At around 8 years old, she started to show tendencies undesirable to her parents, showing interest in girls, playfully kissing her friend during recess at her school. The overseeing teacher reported this to her parents, who, outraged, punished their daughter severely, withdrawing her from school, and instead decided to home school her.
There, Kanade learned to keep her feelings to herself, and most of her thoughts as well. When she argued or stated a different opinion, she would often get hit or yelled at by her parents, in which she started to become who she is now. Eventually, her parents, thinking they had "fixed" their child, sent her to school, who excelled at the top of her class. They then sent her to Japan to learn about the culture, where she ended up at Astraea Hill.
Sample post: *When Kanade first left to Astraea Hill as a first year*
As Kanade left on a train to Astraea Hill, all she could think about was the miles apart she was from her parents, the freedom she now had, and the long wide ocean that separated them. She could finally be herself, drifting off to the moment that effectively changed her life 7 years ago, but then a dreadful thought came into her head, she no longer remembered how to be the energetic and outgoing girl she used to be. The bluenette simply sighed and put her headphones on as she lazily plopped her two legs onto the seat across from her, playing some games on her laptop. Leaving the U.S. wasn't as hard as she thought it would be, having seen so many movies and played so many games about sad departings and missed loved ones, but she had no close friends to miss, no relatives she cared really cared about. Suddenly Kanade's frantic typing and clicking on her laptop's keyboard stopped as her eyes closed, the computer flashing with explosions as her in-game avatar remained idle. Her breathing suddenly became shaky as her eyes opened again and she slumped in her chair, her eyes cast downward, not really concentrated on one thing. One of those moments had hit her again, but she hoped it wouldn't affect her too much at Astraea Hill, were she hoped to start a new life.
