Name: Chiharu Aohana
School Attending: Miator
Age/ Year in School:
16/Fifth Year
~ Appearance ~
Hair Color: A surprisingly sharp shade of silver, contrasted with a very light highlight of white along her fringe. It ages her visage, despite the fact that it is simply her natural hair color.
Hairstyle: Falling in long bangs over one side of her face, the rest curls around her head in a small bob-like fashion, the tips just barely reaching the base of her neck. A brown headband is normally slipped in across the upper portion of her head, separating some of the thicker parts from the mass and letting them fall in distinctive bands.
Eye Color: Like all of her family, Chiharu possesses a piercing azure gaze, the bright, twinkling orbs often unnerving those she looks at. However, if one can stand to stare back at her, they would see the compassion in her eyes.
Height: 5'9"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform?
Being a student of Miator, she dons the normal attire of a long black one-piece uniform, accompanied by a white petticoat and a green tie. Outside of this, she likes to wear a mix of styles, depending on what she plans to do. For dancing, she prefers the ease of a simple tank-top and skirt, of varying colors, though always free-flowing, allowing her to move without worrying about her clothes getting in the way. Apart from that, she can often be seen wearing an assortment of kimonos and traditional dresses, including her iconic personal kimono consisting of a white base, a long red over-shawl, a matching bow in the shape of a butterfly, topped off with long trails of dark blue fabric extending from the hem of the dress.
What kinds of activities is your character involved in?
Ballroom Dancing: Yes
Needlepoint: Yes
Is your character on the Student Council?
No, she knows very well that her personality would not be well suited to a position of responsibility like that. Plus, it would detract from the time she had to spend with her little friends, or dancing, or both.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Chiharu always wears a smile on her face - to be seen without one is a telltale sign that she is severely depressed about something, as she does not like to burden herself upon others. But her life has been, for the most part, cheery and delightful, her constant look of happiness a reflection of that. From this has sprung a compelling urge to bring this euphoria to others, through compassion and caring. It is not uncommon to see her go out of her way to aid another student she comes across, whether it be tutoring, collecting fallen items of personal property or even just being a friendly companion.
An important note; Chiharu harbors a powerful love for two things in nature - flowers and butterflies. She has her own collection of each, at home and at school, kept within specially-designed environments. She tends to them every day, humming and even talking to both the flowers and butterflies as she continues to nurture them, just as she does her friends. She, in turn, absolutely loves her gardening classes.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
She finds it an intriguing concept in its origin; lovers leading the schools down a good path, representing all with no discrimination, and with amorous personalities. The dancing displays of the past were fantastic to watch as well. Sadly, she is all too aware that the main idea has shifted to something more like a popularity contest, though she still loves watching dances.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
She has considered it, but Chiharu is not sure that she would be suited for a role of responsibility, nor has she found a suitable partner, though her mind would drift to a certain red-head should she be asked.
What does your character think of Sado Kagami and Kitsuki Sha, the current etoiles?
The Miatorian, like many others, adores Kitsuki - it's very much hard not to do so with how cute and innocent she is. Similarly, she admires the princelike aspects that Sado Kagami holds, and has once or twice wondered aloud what it would be like to watch the two dance, wholeheartedly, together. Beyond that, she does not really think of them all that much - she has her own issues to deal with.
What does your character think of the other schools?
The butterfly girl doesn't really find the schools all that separate - more like three parts of the whole that is Astrea Hill, with different focuses. Miator's prestige, Spica's sportsmanship and Lulim's carefree nature all seem admirable to her, though she finds the rivalry a little odd and
unnecessary really.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Born to a family who have cultivated their lives around nature, Chiharu Aohana continued the legacy with her knack for flower-tending and her indescribable way with the butterflies. The latter would flock to her, resting on her head, her arms, her legs and even her dress, just to be around her as she hummed and talked away to none but them. With one parent being a botanist, and another being a veterinarian, both were overjoyed with their daughter's success with both elements of nature, and her succeeding delight.
But it was not her only passion in life.
Only months after she had learned to walk and talk, to run and sing, Chiharu began to dance. It started outside, amongst the flowers and butterflies, as simply another expression of joy. But it quickly developed into a hobby for life, as she exhibited a noteable air of grace, much like a jungle feline. Spotting this, the Aohana's delved into their savings to provide a nurturing lifestyle for all three parts of her life, which included a private dance instructor.
Several years down the track, she still excels at dancing, now in multiple styles though her favorite remains as oriental dances, including many done at temples in spiritual practices. Of course, her flora & fauna are still just as important.
Fourth Year: Her fourth year....was exciting in many ways. While it wasn't so easy to get into the social scene of things, the new atmosphere was lovely and she was able to see her little friends regularly. Her studies were fine, dancing was plenty...especially at the ball, where she met a singular beauty who stole the night for her, and her heart too. They both knew they were hiding more than their faces beneath the masks, but it didn't ruin the magic of the night, and when they parted, she left the mystery girl with a piece of her - a precious charm. If and when they met again, perhaps it would help spark their memory.
Of course, their next meeting was under very different circumstances - the mystery girl's 'normal' facade was near opposite to the one of Hanako, whom she had danced the night away with. Viola attempted her usual ruthlessness, only to crack in the face of Chiharu's utterly peculiar personality, who did not react any where near what was expected. Instead of the normal fearful or heartbroken response, Chiharu offered polite, passive agreement, and gentle reproaches. She even danced with the red-head, who cracked under the pressure and showed a sliver of the girl that the silverette met at the ball.
A girl she was falling for, fast, and had no idea how to save from the terrible pit of despair and trouble that surrounded her, even though Chiharu had no idea what exactly it was that caused it.
Fifth Year:
Sixth Year:
Sample Post: "Come little ones, let's take a breath of fresh air as the leaves fall." Several had already gathered along her body, resting peacefully as she stepped out into the cool, crisp Autumn morning. A dazzling array of orange and yellow assaulted her bright blue eyes, as she splayed her arms wide, sending a few of the butterflies into the air about her, fluttering about for a moment or two before coming to rest on her now spread arms.
"Now now, don't be sad. I'll be back next year. Besides, you could always visit me. It's not that far~" Grinning, she looked up at the hill looming in the distance. Her parents had moved here a year ago, letting her settle in, before attending the prestigious Astrea Hill, or more specifically, St. Miator's. Apparently, her dancing was quite welcomed at the school. As long as they let her tend to the flowers and butterflies, she would be fine. Now, speaking of dancing...
As if by instinct, her friends lifted from her body and hung in the air around her, as she began to sway and move about in a swift, but elegant manner. There was no music aside from her own humming, yet she stayed perfectly in time, the colorfully-winged insects moving in and out around her as she giggled and smiled gleefully.
"Let's get things all ready to go~ Wouldn't want to miss my first day now would we? Besides, a new home is just another exciting adventure to be had."
