Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Due to her past, she has developed an intense hatred of alcohol. She also has a strong sense of responsibility and loyalty, although she often gives off the impression of being strange and flighty. Gwendolyn is an outgoing girl who cares little for what other people think of her. Her habit of speaking without thinking often lands her in trouble, especially during class. She couldn't be considered particularly intelligent and is the first to admit to her awful memory, however her honest and sunny personality tends to draw people to her.
Until they are scared away by her interest in zombies. That's right. Gwen loves zombies, the gothic, the dark, and the morbid. Magic, vampires, and werewolves fascinate her. She loves fairytales and gets easily lost in her fantasies.
Her memory fails for most things academic, but when it comes to learning her lines it has never failed. Gwen dreams of becoming an actress. She loves being on stage and thrives on being the center of attention. Ordinarily a fashionable girl, she takes every opportunity to step out of the stuffy Miator uniform, partially to show off her brother's skill and help him get noticed by the wealthy girls of Astraea Hill.
However, after the earthquake, Gwen has been changing. Although she tries to maintain her usual outgoing and cheerful personality, she is prone to bouts of moodiness. Anger and depression frequently boil over. She has developed a tendency to act bitterly or sarcastically, things which never would have occurred to her before.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
It's an interesting idea, two girls who hold the spotlight with all the school looking at them. She treats the Etoiles and the student council presidents like famous actresses, regarding them highly and becoming starstruck when they're around.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? It's a nice thought, but probably not. She would love to have all eyes on her, but the only person she'd want to run with has already graduated.
What does your character think of Shizuka and Chokone, the current Etoiles?
Chokone: To Gwen, Chokone is the star of the Etoile pair this year. She is like a fairy princess: petite, delicate, cute. Really, the Etoile pair this year is like a fairy tale come to life.[/ul]
What does your character think of the other schools?
They're schools? She has no real opinion on them. Although she does like Lulim's many clubs.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Alcohol has always played a large part in Gwen's life and in the lives of her siblings. Her oldest brother, James, was the product of her mother and her high school sweetheart. They struggled, but worked hard and had a happy, decent life as a family, until one day, James' father was killed in a drunk driving accident. Devastated, their mother poured herself into work, earning enough as a secretary to support herself and her young son. She fell in love with her boss and five years after the birth of her son, and nearly three years after the death of her first husband, she remarried.
Soon after, her husband was transferred to Japan and the family went with him. A year after his transfer, he was fired from his job. The man took to alcohol to drown his troubles. Loyal and not knowing anyone else in this foreign country, his wife stayed with him and took his abuse, which resulted in the birth of another son. Exhausted from childbirth, she left the name of her child to her inebriated husband, and thus Gwen's second brother, Augustus, was born seven years after James. Their father worked odd jobs to earn whatever money he could get while his wife secretly took lessons in Japanese to someday gain her independence.
Once again, she was a secretary, but now her husband was no longer the bread-winner and was furious. His fury led to more alcohol, which led to the birth of another child. This time, Gwendolyn was born. The common consensus is that her father was once again drunk at the time of naming. IN a few years, Gwen's mother was earning enough to provide for her children and threatened to leave. In a rage, her husband killed her and, before he could successfully kill his children, he was apprehended by the police.
At this time, James was away at school and only heard about the events when he received a call from the police. By this time, he was old enough to be the legal guardian of his younger half-siblings. He took the responsibility, quitting school and working in a small boutique, designing and selling clothes. Bitter about his lost future, but still caring deeply for his remaining family, he insisted that his siblings take school seriously and he spent whatever he could afford on their education. It was his idea to send Gwen to St. Miator, hearing of their excellent reputation.
Second Year: Gwen and her roommate, Hikaru, have gotten closer over the course over the past year and their friendship has bloomed. Romance has also bloomed. Gwen's crush on the vampiric Azriella has blossomed. At the Winter Ball, when the younger girl was forced to confront her feelings when she saw Azriella dancing with a beautiful, princess-like girl. It looked like a fairytale. Feeling as though she didn't belong, she ran and has begun to wonder why she was so upset by the scene. However, Gwen and Azriella found each other again after the winter ball. Gwen finally confronted her feelings and professed them. They were returned and she spent the summer on tour with Azriella and her band. It was, as of now, the most magical summer of her life.
Third Year: Gwen grew quite a bit last year, not that she really noticed anything more than needing new clothes. She met some new people, but had a rather uneventful year. Until she met Yuudai, a Lulim student who seemed to have a love of music. It was during their meeting that Azriella made her surprise appearance, announcing that she was returning to campus. Hopefully, that means that Gwen can spend the next year happily in the vampire's company.
Fourth Year: It would have been an uneventful year, had it not been for the earthquake. Gwen hadn't been able to meet with Azriella as much as she would have liked. She met Shun, a magician, whose magic surely must be real. Gwen and Yuudai went shopping to find a present for Azriella, but on her way to deliver the present, the Miator student was caught in the earthquake. She slipped and fell down the stairs during incident, and was sent to a hospital close to home. Upon her return to Astraea Hill, it became obvious that something was different about her: she was wheelchair-bound. Now, Gwen is hoping that magic will help her regain the ability to walk.

life's a fairytale
so you've gotta believe in the magic
WORD COUNT : 309Gwen took a deep breath and looked up at the school, a smile on her lips. She adjusted her glasses on the bridge of her nose, their lenses caught the sunlight and gleamed. She had spent some time at home with her brothers for the summer, and now she was back at school and ready for the start of her second year.
Her second year!
She couldn't believe it was already her second year here at the wonderful Astraea Hill. The school itself seemed to come from a fantasy, a world of princesses, just waiting for the magic. The girl laughed slightly to herself. Whatever magic was there, she was sure that she was going to find it.
"You still haven't given that stupid stuff up?" her brother had said. As if Auggie had a right to talk. Gwen had pouted and poked him incessantly in the forehead as punishment. He had his own quirks. Everyone did. He held the cigarette loosely in his hand and puffed out a stream of smoke.
"And you haven't given up that stupid stuff?" she retorted, plucking the cigarette from his fingers and snuffing it out with the heel of her boot.
He snorted in frustration and took out a box, pulling another long, thin cigarette from its contents. "You haven't told Jamie, right?"
She stared at her middle brother crossly. "No, but I think I should. He's making your favorite for dinner tonight...." Auggie shook his head, smiling regretfully at his sister.
She would find the magic here - for Auggie, for Jamie, and for herself. If it was anywhere in the world, it was going to be at Astraea Hill. "Stupid Auggie! I'm going to prove you wrong!" she shouted determinedly before walking through the doors of the Strawberry Dorms, the black skirt of her uniform billowing out with the breeze.
