Name: Hikaru Shinguji (Candy Apple)
School Attending: Miator
Age/ Year in School: (choose one below)
12/First Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Kitakami | Kantai Collection
Hair Color: Black
Hairstyle: Hikaru wears her chest length hair mostly pulled back into a braid so that it doesn't get tangled in stuff. Meanwhile her side locks are tied off at the bottoms kind of like little ponytails for much the same reason; somehow her bangs have remained intact from a hime-cut she had not too long ago too.
Eye Color: Black/gray
Height: 5'0"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform? Hikaru loves to dream about owning trendy, fashionable clothes and tries to get the closest thing she can to what's in style at a given time. In reality her limited budget means that her best friend in fashion is the clearance rack. Overall her taste in clothes is casual but comfy - be it flouncy skirts with lacy tops or jeans with a t-shirt, if it's comfortable she likely owns it.
What kinds of activities is your character involved in?
Are you a Maid? Yes
Other?- Being brand new to the school means that Hikaru isn't really sure what clubs she'd like to join yet. As she gets settled at St. Miator she'll certainly make more friends and acquaintances who will influence her decisions on what clubs are of interest!
Is your character on the Student Council? - Not yet; Hikaru just got into Miator so she's still learning about her new school and doesn't feel like it'd be good for her to try and represent it yet.
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president? Since she's new Hikaru doesn't know that much about the president, other than the presidential office exists. Actually she thinks that the office is kind of like being the responsible leader of a bigger school family who looks out for everyone. So in a way it's like being a cool older sister who's always there for everybody, and that seems pretty neat to Hikaru.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more: A very good word to describe Hikaru would be earnest. Young as she is she's incredibly eager to impress other people, fit into social groups and generally keep everyone in a good mood. Hikaru really doesn't like arguments or fighting so she's quick to backtrack on anything that ends up upsetting people for any reason. In fact she's really kind of a doormat when it comes to pretty much everything, since she'd rather keep everyone else happy than be stubborn and upset them. As part of this, though, she's actually pretty empathetic and knows signals people tend to give when they're upset about something. Given those situations she'll rush onto the scene to please them even if it's a strain on herself.
Eager to make friends as much as to placate those who aren't feeling well, Hikaru tries hard to make small talk whenever she can and has even learned other languages to expand her potential friendship quotient! Since she's grown up in the big extended family of her orphanage Hikaru is also very impressionable. She honestly doesn't really know a lot of stuff so she just kind of takes it for granted that others are both on the level and know what they're talking bout. After all why would people make stuff up when she's being so helpful to them? If doing everything in her power still isn't enough to defuse a volatile situation, Hikaru tends to pout off in a corner. Often this will be around her portable gaming system, even though she risks it being confiscated by the nuns if they see she has it.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole? Having studied French Hikaru knows that the term means 'star', but she's still learning about what the position actually means on Astraea Hill. From what little she knows so far they're like.. really important standouts from one of the schools. Which makes them kind of like big sisters just like the president but different too. Overall she thinks having a lot of big sisters is a very good idea that she can get behind.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? In her own words, "Gee, me? Um.. well, I don't really now if I'm a star at anything in particular. Honestly it's not really something I've even earned yet, is it? Gosh, I don't think I could do it yet but I'm happy to support my big sisters!"
What does your character think of the current etoiles?
The thing about Hikaru as a new student is that she's only seen a couple of pictures of the current etoiles; this makes her opinion of them incredibly superficial. Michelle is super pretty and looks like she'd be a great example for being ladylike, and Momo is cute and really looks like she might be a fun person to know.
What does your character think of the other schools? From what she knows Hikaru doesn't have a problem with either of the other schools. Spica girls sound like they're brave and courageous girls who could go on big adventures if they wanted, and they get to have horses! Hikaru's never been very good at sports so she doesn't really think she'd fit in there all that well (plus their uniform is so daring!). Lulim girls sound like they'd be incredibly fun to be around, but the sheer number of clubs they have are daunting to poor Hikaru.
~History~
History before Astraea Hill:
Before Astraea Hill Hikaru was a pretty normal kid who didn't really stand out on her own; that's what she tells herself anyway. In reality she never knew her parents after she was left with nuns shortly after birth. For practically her entire life Hikaru has been a ward of the state, living at an orphanage while being raised by nurses and nuns. To her that was all pretty normal and she never asked any questions to the contrary. As a kid growing up in that system it was to her like having a big extended family that was always there for her. No blood relatives ever turned up to adopt her (cousins, aunts/uncles, grandparents all seemed nonexistent), and no people from the general public would either. Somehow she still ended up optimistic and helpful to her peers, always trying to defuse negative situations whenever she could. When she couldn't she'd hide on her bunk bed with the portable game system she bought through saved allowances.
Hikaru attended public school with the support of her nun family, excelling in academics as a way to pay them back for their support and kindness. Though she didn't join any clubs there (they were mostly sports clubs and she had to get back to take care of her fellow orphans) her teachers were suitably impressed to suggest she try for a private school once she became an elementary school sixth year. The nuns suggested she try the entrance test for St. Miator Girls Academy, and she studied extra hard for it. Many sleepless or near-sleepless nights led to her passing the exam and then passing out immediately after completing it. however now that she's a Miator girl she's super excited about a lot of things - having a room she only shares with one person, getting a nice uniform and making new friends for a start!

Sample Post: Hikaru stared up at the grandest gate she had ever set her young eyes upon. This was really going to be her school for the next six years? Just given the immense size of the entrance to the campus' hill she was convinced that it was more of a palace - nay, a fairy tale kingdom! - than a school campus. However much she'd studied to earn entrance into Miator Hikaru couldn't at all believe that she was about to begin her academic career as a private girls' academy student. This was all way too big, way too fancy to be something that a simple girl like her had been able to earn! She'd spent the past five minutes waffling between stepping over the threshold and backing away from the intimidating portal to another, gentler and lacier world.
"No way.. this is too much!" she thought out loud, hands folded in front of her and eyes downcast. Yet as she looked away from the gate her black uniform with green and white accents served as a reminder that she'd passed the test with flying colors. Shinguji Hikaru was indeed a Miator student!
"Okay. Okay. We can do it!" she reassured herself, then looked up for a moment to make sure nobody was on the path ahead of her. Then with her eyes closed and a deep breath, Hikaru stepped over that threshold and into her new world.
