What kinds of activities is your character involved in? -You may choose "none" or choose a maximum of three from the list below.
Japanese Tea Ceremony: No
Flower Arrangement: No
Ballroom Dancing: No
Needlepoint: Yes
Foreign Language: Yes
Band: Yes
What instrument(s) does she play? The trumpet, and the trumpet only.
Are you a Maid? No
Other?- If you wanted your character to be part of an activity not listed here, please list it below and an admin will decide if you can have it.
Is your character on the Student Council? No, she has little interest for it.
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president? The president herself of Miator seems like a respectable figurehead, but Sake wouldn’t know too much about her since she is not serving on the council.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
| Mysterious | Standoffish | Inwardly Empathic | Mature | Self-Perfectionist | Secretly Insecure |
Sake is quite mature for her age, and doesn’t fail to display it through the confident way she carries herself. She has earned the labels of mysterious by some while negatively standoffish to others. People aren’t quite her cup of tea which she makes known by her quickness to leave if another provides a source of company when she doesn’t wish for it. She can be blunt in social situations and is easy to upset. Add a layer of academic stress as frosting, and she becomes a walking time bomb. This can materialize her as rude in context and general personality. To put it bluntly, she’s not the type of person whom you would wish to seek out if you needed a warm, comforting smile. (Unless she is comfortable with the person)
Underneath the mystery and haughty aura rests a gentle soul with the potential of a smile that could make an angel swoon. Sake rarely expresses this side of herself and only unlocks it when she plays her trumpet. The familiarity of the instrument and the melodies it is capable of churns the volcanic exterior when in play, soothing both her soul and mind. It is best to catch her alone when playing since she will already be soothed into a placid mood. Despite her standoffish nature, she will apologize if cast into the wrong and will aid others should they require help. Of course with the consequence that they mustn’t speak of it.
Sake also strives to be perfect. Not in appearance or life or school, but in the one thing that matters most. She is easy to get frustrated when playing her trumpet and sometimes will scream angrily in frustration because of it. She labels herself as a flat-out disappointment even when nothing further can be achieved. She’s not stuck up, however, and actually has very low self-esteem and respect for herself since she is secretly insecure.
What does your character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
A pathetic waste to gain attention. It’s nothing but a pageant.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
No. It’s not up her alley and she would rudely refuse any invitations to participate unless she really cared about someone or was strongly forced to.
What does your character think of the current etoiles? The Etoiles are just like any other figurehead to her. Girls to represent “the face of Astrea”, or, in other terms, to be seen but not quite heard all the time. Her views on both Coyote and Hiroko are about the same. She respects them both as any student would. Coyote reminds her of a girl she once knew in her old school, and she doesn’t connect much with her sense of adventure much. If she saw her, she’d offer a murmured greeting and simply carry on without much else. Hiroko would be fated to a similar situation. The girl’s nervousness comes off as a slight bother to her, though she secretly sympathizes for her and wishes to help raise her confidence a little.
What does your character think of the other schools? Spica has intriguing uniforms. Sake admires them and appreciates the variety of sports they offer as well as their promotion of womanly independence; something that Miator lacks. Lulim receivers little more than a bat of an eye from her. The uniforms are cute she’d admit, but the atmosphere is a little too sleepy for her. Pink isn’t really her color either. In regards to the rivalry between Miator and Spica, she adheres little to it. All that tension will just wear everyone out faster.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Miator:
Sakemoto was born into a young, peaceful family in Ehime. She was the younger sister of Kitamura Sakemoto, her older brother. He left to study business in America shortly after she was born, so he wasn’t too much of a presence in her life. She started playing the trumpet at the early age of six. She was easily a natural of the instrument but was often disappointed in her playing, knowing she could do better even when her best had been achieved. In primary school, she came to meet a young musically inclined girl by the name of Shumi Nakaseko. Being the loner she was, she desired little to do with this girl and avoided her at every bend in the river.
But fate connected this star-crossed strangers to make eventual acquaintance, whether willing or not. One day while walking home from school, Sake noticed the girl about to be harassed by some strange man. An inferno of rage suddenly ignited within her at the sight and she sprang into action. “Touch her, and I’ll kill you!” She shouted after landing a kick to the man’s midriff. Never had she been so angry or driven to protect someone like that before. So, giving into her fate, she allowed herself to become friends with Shumi. Her company became rather pleasant and the two found themselves hanging out quite often after school. With winter ending and spring approaching their last semester, Sake suddenly approached her friend with a consideration of joining the concert band. It had been a desire she had been holding down since first grade, and now with the opportunity being available, she had uncapped its tight lid. To her content, Shumi had agreed. Sake picked up her trumpet once more and sometime later audition day rolled around. The two auditioned together with a coordinated duet. Euphonium and trumpet weaved a syncopated melody. Sake had given it all she had, encouraged by the presence of her friend. But it wasn’t enough…
When the results were delivered, she wanted to crumple the paper. Not qualified. It mocked. She felt her passions being squeezed, no, choked, at that moment. She wasn’t good enough… And to add salt to the wound, a happy Shumi had bounced up with news she had passed the audition. Not a word was exchanged. Embittered, Sake shut herself off for a while, focusing more on her studies while playing her trumpet for time to time. Each time only opened the wound more and each time it would add to the frustration that she wasn’t good enough. That summer passed dramatically. Word of Shumi’s parent’s death had reached her, but while she wished to console her friend, she felt like showing her face to the girl would only upset her because she had abandoned her. Selfishly, too.
Shortly after hearing news that Shumi had been transported off to a wealthy girl’s academy located in an area called Astrea Hill, Sakemoto was met with the same transfer. Her parents hoped the fresh atmosphere and rumored adequate band program would do well for their fallen daughter. Sake gathered her trumpet and a bag of her belongings and was soon on the train to this new place. How could she face Shumi again?

Hot tears stung the smooth surface of sparkling skin, blurring the sheet music on the stand. She tried to keep her buzzing lips from sagging with them as she continued to blow on her trumpet. Not right, not right! Her fingers were stiff from excess use. The soft pads and inflamed joints screamed at every depression of a valve. For over an hour they had been pressing away at the valves, slaves to the instrument and their beholder. Any more and they would bleed, but it wouldn’t be the first time she had worked herself to total exhaustion. Focus… A poignant note suddenly resonated deep within the bell of the horn. All the pent up frustration shattered with it.
The bell of the horn lowered, fingers pressed tightly to the valves. It shook in her hand. That was…. Terrible! Gritting her teeth, she reeled forward in a storm of black hair, letting an angered scream suffocate the sunken empty baseball field beyond. A flock of crows rose up behind her, creating a shivering finale.
No good…
She was no good.
