~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Madoka Narumi||Spiral: The Bonds ofReasoning
Hair color: Himiko's hair is a most unremarkable color on its own, being a deep black with a slight bluish tint. She has been known to add a bit of dye to the hair to enhance this hint of blue, though it never lasts more than a week or two. She uses the dye less often as a teacher than she did as a student.
Hairstyle: Cut at about shoulder blade length and allowed to hang straight most of the time. While Himiko regularly maintains her locks and brushes them, that's about it. She doesn't like to waste time with complicated hairdos, but sometimes puts more effort into putting it up than she did as a student if there is a meeting. During sports events she'll put her hair up into a messy high ponytail, but otherwise doesn't mess with it.
Eye Color: Steely grey, but look slightly more blue depending on the lighting.
Height: 5'6"
What does your character usually wear to class? What does she wear outside of class?: Like her preferences for hairstyles, Himiko prefers a very low maintenance approach to her wardrobe. She prefers jeans and trousers over skirts, as they let her have freedom of movement with less concern of her clothes getting caught on something. When teaching she's often out there exercising with the students, so a white Spica track suit is pretty common for her. During meetings she's more likely to wear a pantsuit, still uncertain about wearing formal skirts. As before she likes to paint her nails, but will moderate the showiness they have depending on if she's going to a meeting or other school function on a given day.
Please describe your character's personality in at least 200 words or more: Himiko is by all accounts a fair bit reckless in her approach to almost everything. Careful preparation and planning are not alien to her, but she's prone to overdoing whatever action the plan calls for. She finds a sense of adventure in most things she does, and therefore believes firmly that those things should be zealously enjoyed. Remaining sedentary for too long will cause her mind to wander lest it be given something to focus on. She's a girl of action rather than simply words. For these reasons she loves sports and thrills in being involved in competition.
She usually acts brash and forward with others, unafraid to speak her opinions openly and to greet people she's a stranger to. Himiko highly values honesty and is easily upset by deceit. Emotions are the most honest form of expression, so Himiko strives to show them openly. Whether this is a hearty laugh at someone's joke, a spontaneous hug to someone who seems down or crying at something sad, she refuses to hide them. This can be very unnerving for others.
In competition Himiko is a very determined individual who will continue going on even when it simply seems impossible to succeed. She likes to win, but isn't too broken up when she's lost. It's much more about the pursuit of a goal and showing her skill than an absolute desire to win. That said she will likely do everything possible to win without resorting to underhanded measures. Victory is meaningless when it's achieved in a dity fashion.
If someone can deal with her very open approach to emotions, Himiko will become their friend quickly. Or at least try to. She much prefers to be around people and is secretly afraid of being left alone for extended periods of time. Himiko hasn't always been as brash, emotoinal and confident as she is now. Living in a home with two more successful sisters who overshadowed her drove Himiko to constantly search for something to give meaning to herself. Upon discovering an American science fiction universe, Himiko took inspiration from one of its alien races and made herself become more outgoing. Just as they were a warrior race, she started competing in sports to become a warrior of the athletic field.
All of this aside, Himiko has a soft spot for cute things and they easily distract her. For a woman who's so enthusiastic about sports, her place is remarkably girly and filled with things like stuffed animals. In private Himiko reverts to being more bookish and soft spoken, if still as honestly emotional as ever. Her vision is challenged enough to require the use of glasses, but she'll only wear them in her dorm or otherwise out of the public eye. In public she prefers to wear contacts.
Was your character a student at Astraea Hill before becoming a staff member? Yes
Please explain your character's history in 150 words or more:
History Before Astraea Hill: Like a number of girls on Astraea Hill Himiko came from a well off family, and that family life was unremarkably comfortable. Her parents are loving but terribly busy and so she spent more time with her sisters as a child. Prior to attending Spica she was quite a bit of a geek who didn't really care too much about her appearance. She loved reading and developed a hobby in creative writing at an early age. Other girls would make fun of her for these interests, and her sisters weren't much of a help giving her any more self-confidence. One became a teacher and was always so busy she couldn't spend time with Himiko. The other was aloof and self-centered; being seen with her geeky little sister wasn't something she would allow to happen.
Himiko also loved singing and tried to follow in that second older sister's footsteps in becoming an idol singer. When she broached the subject to her sister, Himiko was told in no uncertain terms that she 'wasn't pretty enough' and 'couldn't sing'. Heartbroken, she retreated into her room for several days and refused to talk to anyone. Around then she spent a lot of time watching sci-fi shows and discovered an American TV show called Star Trek. One of the alien races in the show caught her imagination and somehow inspired her to stop hiding herself. Afterwards she started changing how she acted around others, had a more optimistic outlook on life and got involved in sports. Her appearance went from sloppy to well maintained, all in the name of 'being a proper warrior in life'.
Having Himiko interested in school activities was a relief for parents who'd been concerned about their yougnest daughter but unsure how to help her. Anything she wanted to do was encouraged, even equestrian sports. Even if it meant buying her a horse to work with so that she could be part of a team. Her idol singer sister came to her and insisted she'd had a change of heart, that Himiko was cute enough and good enough at singing to take up the art herself. This was actually a gambit to lift up sagging record sales by forming a group with her sister. There was even a test recording session set up. Himiko by this point was more interested in other things, and could tell her sister was lying. When the session happened Himiko spoiled her sister's plan by singing in a fictional alien language rather than what was on the lyrics sheet. Since then Himiko has been happily playing sports and singing with other girls over her own choice. And occasionally speaking the fictional language she taught herself.
Life as a student at Astraea: Himiko's run as a student was full of excitement and drama. She emerged on the scene as an eager, hardworking student council member who focused on heling out eveyrone who attended Spica no matter how much she had to work beyond normal duties. Her ambition was to one day be leader of the student body, but she was asked to run against her good friend Junko Hiruko, to become president; ultimately Junko had to withdraw and Himiko became Student Council President. As president she worked extra hard to serve the girls of Spica but lost her love when her girlfriend at the time moved away. Heartbroken, Himiko began to internalize her pain and lashed out at others only to find herself at the beach rescuing a bluenette from the sting of salt water in her eyes. From that point on she's dated Iori Onodera; they ran for Etoile and fell short, but HImiko has been happy since then. That said she spent her final year preparing to enter the work force, ultimately being trained to join the staff as an additional teacher at Spica.

Sample post: This was it, the imposing day of all days which a teenage girl could hardly have dreamed or imagined would come for her. Himiko Miyamae had been something of a legend to some girls at Spica and a friend to all of them if only in passing. Of course she had never met every single girl who attended her school while she was a student and acting as their leader. In spirit she had been with them all, though, and she'd done her best to be a president they could all be proud of. Now that this had passed Himiko had settled down from the craziness of her life as a student leader and embraced the reality that school didn't last forever. It was kind of harsh but now she was an adult who needed to work in order to have worth in the eyes of the world, which made her kind of cringe. Even now as she stared into the mirror she couldn't quite accept that she was no longer a student but a teacher. Thanks to a helpful mentor teacher during her final year as a student, the former Student Council President had gotten herself a job as a Spica instructor as well. Now she would be Miyamae-sensei, rather than Miyamae-senpai or just Himiko. Well to almost everyone at least - to Iori, who was still a student, she would still be Himiko or Himi. They'd have to keep it more low key than before now that Himiko had to work for a living, but she was close enough by that they could see each other regularly.
"I just wish I didn't have to wear this suit," she sighed, staring at herself in the mirror - a young woman rather than a teenager looked back at her. With a shrug and a grin she stepped back and gave herself a salute, "It doesn't matter, we'll find a way to make this work. Qapla!"
