Name: Sasumi Sanzo (Dark Chocolate)
School Attending: Miator
Age/ Year in School: (choose one below)
13/Second Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Ikusu Mizutani|| Nakaimo: My Sister is Among Them
Hair Color: Black
Hairstyle: Though her hair hangs to her waist, Sasumi tends to wear it in a low ponytail for the sake of comfort when moving about in classes. Since she's sometimes been mistaken for a boy (a crossdressing one at that) she's taken to wearing her hair straight or with a bit of feminine hair styling. Regardless she'll wear some kind of decoration in her hair to accentuate her feminine features, ranging from hairpins to a simple ribbon depending on the situation.
Eye Color: Gray
Height: 5'6"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform? When she's out for a leisurely activity, Sasu prefers to wear comfortable clothing that tends toward the masculine. Sweatpants with t-shirts, shorts with tank tops, jeans with flannel shirts, all of which contrast with her desire to look less boyish. If she's going out with a group of friends she'll trade the trousers or jeans for a skirt, but most of her feminine ensembles are rather poorly chosen in terms of coordination. Colors often clash when she's going full-on feminine, due to her lack of talent in fashions other than hair accessories. Boyish Sasu, Girlish Sasu
What kinds of activities is your character involved in? -
Ballroom Dancing: Yes
Band: Yes
What instrument(s) does she play? Percussion - any kind of drum is her best friend.
Are you a Maid? No
Is your character on the Student Council? - Being a rather new transfer and uncertain totally how Miator works, Sasu is still operating on Vincennes lines. There, she felt as if scholarship students didn't have proper representation and attempted to form a new political faction to rectify the fact. So in short she is not involved in the Student Council because she feels it would be 'counter-revolutionary'. This will likely change once she's been at Miator for a while.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more: Sasumi has a fairly strong sense of right and wrong which guides her decision making, and feels like its her job to stick up for those who might be downtrodden. As such she often sticks her nose into the business of others when they seem to be in need. Despite her penchant for getting involved in trouble she doesn't really fight so much as tries to reason with others and talk them out of their wrongdoing. Essentially she thinks the world really could be at peace if everyone would talk things out more. She believes all people should be treated with respect until they give you a reason not to. Granted she interprets anyone holding themselves above another to be inherently disrespectful. At her old school this tended to get her into a number of verbal fights and athletic competitions. Given that she is not overly gifted in athletics herself, Sasumi tended to lose these battles more often than not.
Sasumi is proud and carries herself like a leader of women, but she's fairly vulnerable considering that generalization. Behind her defiant mask she worries about what people think of her and tries to live up to what she perceives to be the best acceptable persona available. At Vincennes this was of a boyish rogue who spoke of revolutionary ideas. Now that she's rediscovered her femininity and is at a new school, she prefers to act more demure and girlish. She's still figuring out who she is beyond that, but when not involved in 'right and wrong' conversations she's rather pleasant and casual. Though awkward, she tried her best to fit into one role while developing a sense of self aside from that. Sasumi doesn't care for fancy things all that much because they remind her of the taunts of 'tourist' she would get back at Vincennes. Simple and straightforward is both how she lives and the path to her heart.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole? Sasu is very skeptical of anything which elevates one group of students above another in terms of status. Therefore she thinks this is just some fancy girl thing which is tradition but not tradition that she could be involved in herself.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? For the reasons stated above, she wouldn't be all that interested in pursuing it herself. It would take a strong girl to change her mind but this could change eventually.
What does your character think of the current etoiles? Despite her misgivings about the whole title, Sasu really can't fault the students' choice of Etoiles at the moment. Neither girl seems to be really all that fancy, and both seem fairly approachable considering. Coyote being such an athlete and part Canadian makes Sasu almost feel they have the same kind of outsider thing going. Hiroko is pretty normal judging by her pictures, so maybe she's okay too.
What does your character think of the other schools? Having just transferred in Sasumi doesn't quite have a handle on the rivalry between her new school and Spica. However much she might not like aristocratic structures, Sasu does have loyalty to Miator. Because of that she really doesn't hate Spica so much as sees them as a friendly rival at worst. Girls are girls after all. LeRim seems really fun, but for some reason Sasu feels like she needs the formal structure of Miator despite simultaneously wanting to kind of rebel.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Miator: Sasu has a lot of experience when it comes to private girls' schools, having been enrolled in them since she was old enough to attend school at all. Early on in her life she attended the Vincennes academy, a small establishment with French stylings and a dedication to molding girls into proper young women. Most of the girls who attend Vincennes are of quite wealthy stock, so Sasumi stuck out from the start. Her ability with academics got her the interest of someone in the Vincennes community, who then sponsored her for a scholarship to the school. Due to her much more modest beginnings Sasumi was identified as a 'tourist' - someone who couldn't fully fit into the school's culture.
Though she made friends, she felt like an outsider and tried to do something to better help her fellow 'tourists' within the school. In contrast to the traditional student factions, she attempted to found her own - "Bourse parti étudiants révolutionnaires". It was supposed to represent the scholarship students more specifically, but ultimately all it did was earn her a title from her fellow students: 'Papillon Rebelle.' Though she was thought pretty she also was considered to be still undergoing the metamorphosis into a real Vincennes girl. At the same time she had a boyish build, sometimes wore more masculine clothes when she could get away with it and was taller than most of the girls. In a weird way she became a prince type without meaning to do so. Though she didn't mind it at first - it was easier to get girls to listen to her ideas if she were the handsome prince - eventually she wanted to be more girlish herself. Fans within her class protested the idea, so she remained a boyish type for their sake.
Everything came to a head when boys were allowed to attend the school. Despite her boyish charms she quickly started dating one of the newly enrolled male students who'd gotten a crush on her. The dirty looks she got for that weren't what caused her to transfer - it was the revelation that the boy was from a criminal family which convinced her father to demand a transfer. After some negotiating with the sponsor she was sent to another traditional all-girls environment where she might blossom: St. Miator Girls Academy.

Sample Post: Sasumi Sanzo stared into the mirror in her dorm room at Miator for what must have been the fortieth time in the past hour. She kept finding herself astounded at the transformation which had unfolded before her with but a few simple steps. The masculine Papillon Rebelle had worn her hair back in a low ponytail with a men's shirt and tie accompanying her trademark page boy cap. Switching out the shirt for a black dress with poofy shoulders, a men's tie for a girl's and letting her hair down presented a totally different young lady in that reflection. Though the uniform was lacy and fancy, she had to admit it had a bit of a simplistic old fashioned charm to it. Hardly the same girl who'd had a fan club back at Vincennes and who'd sought to start a revolution. No, this was not that.. boy.. girl.. whoever. This was just Sasu Sanzo, the cute girl who'd transferred in from a similar school and wanted to make friends whose back she'd have.
"Proper girls sing songs right?" Sasumi thought aloud, then sang lightly the first thing that came to mind,
"Debout, les damnés de la terre
Debout, les forçats de la faim
La raison tonne en son cratère
C'est l'éruption de la fin...."
It was a song she'd learned at Vincennes. It was also a song about revolutions.. which she didn't really want to make public knowledge here yet. Maybe it would eventually come out, but not just yet. With a sigh she lightly tapped herself on the cheek as a reminder that this was a fresh start for her. Sasumi reached up and slipped a sparkly hairpin into her girlish locks, smiling at how it looked.
"There, that's a lot better Sasu," she told herself, then stepped back.. still humming that song anyway.
