A quiet meal alone was common for the girl, as she made a point of becoming somewhat isolationist. Silently with her eyes closed, she navigated the table with a hand, finding herself daintily bumping her teacup with her finger before exploring it with the rest of her hand, until she had found the spot to grip it from. She wore her Miator uniform well, as it was fitting for a girl so composed. Atop her pink hair rested a beret that she had grown quite attached to, and from her wrist hung a bulky metallic band which appeared to have a large rubber bit to close off the end. This was her cane, carefully crafted by her older brother to he lightweight and fit into a band she could wear on her wrist instead of carrying it around everywhere by hand. She had it sealed and locked on her wrist for now as she often did when not outside.
It was hard to get a read on an expression other than her content looking smile before she took a sip of her tea. It was nice being alone sometimes. She had accepted this fate and decided that suffering wasn't necessary. Proudly suffering would be much better. She dared not get close again to anyone, or they may be hurt.
Her silence didn't last, however, as she heard the familiar voice of her half sister June in the distance.
"June? " she called out into the void.

She excused herself from June for just a moment to place her Epee and coat in her singularly used room, leaving her once again in a pair of tight jeans and a tucked in button down. The redhead rushed back down to the ground floor to meet up with her new friend with a grin on her lips. "Thanks for waiting. I don't like to walk around with a weapon on me in school buildings. It seems.. awkward and like I'm asking for trouble."
The redhead tossed her braid over her shoulder as they made their way toward the cafeteria and smiled lightly. "That last strike you were going to make. Why did you pull it? I left myself open you had every right to make it, you know?"
Her crimson hues darted from her friend to the girl that had called out as they neared, "Is that Kendall?" The hair was right, but she was wearing Miator clothing, surely the sisters would have been in the same school.. "or perhaps an acquaince of yours?"

She had no qualms with waiting around for a bit while things were handled. After all, she had the same mindset. Carrying a weapon around campus would only lead to bad assumptions. When Zephyra agreed to this sentiment, she couldn't help but enjoy the similar mindset that much more. Seriously, who did she remind June of?
Oh, but then came the question.
"I pulled it because we probably wouldn't be able to chat like this after." she stated plainly. "To be honest, a cobra strike at that distance is usually bad news. In my last match before this, it was compared to being stabbed. I'm betting you're durable but I wasn't going to take the chance."
It wasn't a pity pull, or anything. It was more like she didn't want to do damage unless she was actually fighting back. She had stated before that she wouldn't strike. Oh, better clarify that.
"Plus, you'd already won and I wasn't planning on attacking during that. If you'd like me to fight back next time, I'll show you what it's like."
Huh. Then came a voice she knew. Those were few and far between, so-
"Yep, that's her. Seems she found us. I'll introduce you if she's not feeling like an island today."
_____
"Hey Ken. I was looking for you earlier." June joked. Kendall didn't open her eyes to greet them, but nodded.
"I heard another voice. Aren't you going to make introductions?" she barely audibly said. She wasn't being shy, she just hadn't much energy today and on a general basis knew that the only way to seem calm at all times was to stay quiet.
"Right. Ken, Zephyra, Zephyra, Ken."

"Fair enough. I would enjoy an all out tussel next time. I can take it. If I can't then I should have blocked the blow. But, I appreciate your code." Her smile grew as they moved into the room holding the pinkette.
Zephyra tucked her hands behind her back as they stepped up to June's sister. "T'is a pleasure, Miss." Though her Japanese was becoming more free flowing, Zeph still had a few hiccups here and there where her Gaelic took over. Her manners had been tactically shoved down her throat so it was a hard habit to break. Though as soon as the sentence came from her mouth, she cleared her throat and repeated the sentence in Japanese with a light blush on her cheeks. Well, that wasn't embarrassing at all..

Whoever this girl was had just spoken another language. She was used to that from June using Russian every so often to tease, but this was not a language she understood. The situation quickly rectified itself though, as she caught herself it seemed and interpreted her own speech into a common language between them all. A pleasure? That was a long shot. It was rarely a pleasure to meet someone anymore. Asami had vanished and then ignored her completely(For admittedly good reasons), Moe had completely up and gone, and even her own family had mostly graduated. Who could call any chance encounter, no matter how good it ended up being, a pleasure when they had a stigma of abandonment about them?
"Indeed." she nodded, her words still quite hushed but audible enough. "I have tea. If you haven't already, please sit down."
June eyed her suspiciously, as offering a seat was not common for Kendall anymore, but she accepted it anyway. It was nice to see her at least trying, even if it was forced. But that was exactly when she noted Kendall's expression had blanked completely, and she had opened her eyes for the first time. That ghostly white look they had about them was still equal parts enchanting and disturbing. Like she was peering into an unknown void, past all of the physical sights around here. The reality was that she saw only a void, and nothing more. But, she had adapted to her new limitations very well and with great spirits at first. Lately, it seemed as though she resented it though.
As if on cue, Kendall pulled out an earbud from her collar and attached it to her ear, and then opened her phone - an old style flip phone at that. It took her only a few moments to smile, very faintly, and then reply a message in text. The key was that each button was a different shape from the other, so she knew which key to press for what, and June had taught her how to use traditional texting inputs alongside that. She was actually pretty good at it, as she only rarely mistyped. A feat she was surely proud of.
"Gomene." she bowed from her sitting position. "If I do not answer, Nii-san worries. Anyway, tea?"

Zephyra rested a hand on the back of the chair she would settle in after retrieving what they had come for. Before she could ask what they all would like to eat Kendall's ghostly gaze caught her attention and she watched her with curious eyes. Her home was wrapped around suspicions and old wives tales and her nurse had told her far more than her fair share of stories. Perhaps a few of them could be true, others were definitely far fetched and simply stories to draw attention away from gloomy afternoons. But, the tale of Mirror Sight instantly came to mind when she gazed into Kendall's whitened hues. Surely she couldn't see the world around them, but there were plenty of other things the mind could draw up to replace what the eyes missed. Seeing the true visage of a person. It drew no disgust from her heart, only a true curiosity that had her wanting to question exactly what the older girl could see. Just then Kendall drew out her phone and Zeph snapped out of her thoughts she glanced to June, hoping she hadn't noticed her rudeness though it was for innocent enough reasons.
"What would you like, June? It's on me." Her words were hushed so she wouldn't bother the other student, but when Kendall spoke up she simply smiled and told her not to worry. "I'll go get some extra cups and another kettle. Would you like anything to eat Kendall-sama?"

That was Kendall for you. She was really attached to her brother, which was fine. Whatever gave her something to smile about, after all. There was no cause for alarm, other than the sudden declaration that Zephyra had offered to pay for the food.
"Oh no you don't." she stood again immediately, as if she had forgotten why they were there entirely. Kendall had epressed no interest in food, shaking her head as her only response before sipping at her tea again. "Be right back Ken." said June, all but tugging Zephyra along with her. There was no way she would let someone else pay for her food, especially after they beat her. If anything it was her turn to buy. She stepped a bit faster than intended, but it was fine. Once they were out of earshot, June gave an apologetic bow.
"She's been like this since her ex, sorry." she stated. "Nothing you should have to deal with. She's just really withdrawn, don't take it personally if she doesn't get very talkative."

Zeph let out a very girly squeak as she was taken hold of and pulled toward the line. "Hey! You were kind enough to be my partner the least I could do.." Her cheeks puffed out cutely as she was released and her fingers went about putting her disarrayed hair back in to place.
A quick wave was given at the bow as well as a shake of her head. "Don't apologize, really. It's quite alright. She's spoken more words to me than most of the people at my old school." The redhead gave a shake of her head to set the last bit of her hair into place then promptly stuck her hands into her back pockets.
"She does seem as if she is in.. mourning. That doesn't quite seem to be the word I should be using, but the closest I could think of." Her crimson hues peered over her shoulder at Kendall before turning back to June. "So don't apologize. She has her right to be the way she is and I don't know the circumstances, so who am I to judge?"
A tall girl shrugged and looked up to the chalkboard that held the menu for the day, picking out a soup that would hold her over until dinner before turning back to her new acquired friend. "Perhaps she just needs to gain a few more friends that won't let her down, but instead lift her up. It seems to have helped me, according to my tutor. I use to be a lot like her."

"You'd be surprised at how right you are." June said quietly, in regards to mourning. "But enough of that. Thank you for not judging her too harshly on first meeting. She could use some friends. Now, about me buying."
With the undertone of 'and so could I' being left out of the sentence and replaced with an offer to pay for food, June made her picks and returned(Handing Zephyra some money in case she was indecisive and took longer), grabbing Kendall a small pastry as well. She knew her sister, she wouldn't turn it down if it was presented. An offer was an idea, not an item. It could be refused. but if someone presented an item and then offered it, she would have no choice in her own code of ethics.
"Apple roses." June said, sitting a small plate in front of Kendall with an intentionally audible clack. Ordinarily this was bad manners, but she had done so deliberately to help the girl understand what was present.
"N-nee-san..." Kendall said quietly, as if out of breath. She flickered a smile for a moment before nodding. "Itadakimasu."
June just enjoyed her victory and wondered at where this conversation could go. Surely they had something to talk about.
"So... How is Miator treating you both?" June asked, sort of a vague question to open the mood a bit. Kendall remained silent, as if wanting the other girl to answer first, as she slowly nibbled at the apples on the pastry. She was like a mouse.

"Of course. There really is no need to thank me." Zeph flashed a grin then gave a shake of her head before ordering directly after June finished. It was an easy decision at least. They only had a few soups and one that she actually knew anything about, so that was her choice.
With the tray in hand, the redhead made her way back to the table and settled quietly into her chair. Her legs crossed at the ankle under the table and her posture was impeccable as always. She had lifted the spoon that came with the dish only to pause, seeing as the food was still far too warm to partake of.
Her gaze shifted over to June then to Kendall, making sure she wasn't going to speak up first before she started hesitantly. "It.. is better than any other school I've been too. But there are some odd customs. Like the maid getups and that. Thankfully my senpai thought I would look better in a butler outfit so I got out of that frilly business."
The Gael wrinkled up her nose cutely and wiggled her fingers a bit as if waving goodbye to the fabric. She truly wouldn't miss that outfit.

So, Zephyra was an underclassmen. She should be addressed as such, then. A question she didn't want to ask dug at her, and she refrained. Too much negativity as it is without that. Just enjoy the company.
"Zephyra-chan has likely had a better time of it than myself." she nodded, smiling. "It's been lonely, truth be told."
That was where she had left it. Kendall clearly wasn't comfortable talking further about school, and it was reflected strongly in her oddly bittersweet smile, her eyes hidden neatly behind closed eyelids, also hidden behind her hair as her head sank just ever so slightly. She allowed herself a moment to formulate her next sentence, carefully planning it out.
"Maids would be a welcome change to my room." she tilted her head in thought. "I remember being one myself. You meet... Interesting people that way."
June just sat silently, allowing the Miator students to talk amongst each other. Hopefully, she could mitigate any troubles her sister may be feeling, but more hopeful was the idea that all three of them could become friends. Kendall needed it more than herself, but she had to admit loneliness was not something alien to her, either. Zephyra was a breath of fresh air to both of them.

The redhead crossed her ankles under the table then tucked her feet back under her chair, so as to keep her long legs out of the way. Her hand cradled her spoon between a few fingers and dipped it into the soup, stirring it to release some of the trapped heat but she was careful never to let the utensil touch the sides of the bowl. "Interesting and eccentric to say the least. It was terrifying at first. I'm not exactly the best people person on campus, but it seems to have worked itself out."
The young girl grinned down at her food with a bit of longing she normally kept locked away. But it quickly returned to this place as she shook herself from her thoughts. Her free hand lifted to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear and she looked back to Kendall. "Did you not put your card in the lot? Surely someone must have picked your room."
Zeph seemed a bit puzzled by this and tried to stay on topic of maids since she picked up Kendall's subtle hints of her dislike. She had just met the girl, she didn't want to cause any hardships with her.
"Maybe your maid just lost your card and can't find your room. They'd have to be rather absentminded.. which doesn't sound like someone you would want as a maid anyway."
And she was rambling.. Wonderful. A blush fell across her cheeks as she ducked her head and brought up a spoonful of soup to keep her tongue busy for a moment so her word vomit would cease and she could allow the other girls to speak.

Ah, there it was. The excuse making. How very predictable. If she had 100 yen for every time someone made an excuse about something just to get on her good side... Well, enough of that. She also noted that this girl claimed to be somewhat of an introvert. Claim being the key word. What seemed to be happening was a forced exchange between two girls who would otherwise never have met. Kendall could have gone her whole life without every crossing paths with Zephyra if not for her sister's intrusion. One that was in all honesty starting to become a bother, but she would never have the guts to voice that. Some things never change.
"I hear that a lot." she smiled and turned her head up. "A good amount of maids feel overwhelmed. Just remember that it's not only a job, but a chance to make yourself a senpai of some upperclassmen." Musing, she tiled her head to the side. "I believe everyone needs someone to look up to around here or they'd be swallowed whole by the rules."
That wasn't too far off. Miator was definitely strict, more so than the other schools, and underclassmen need guidance to survive that. Guidance she refused to admit being jealous of never receiving.
"Ah, no. I guess I just scared them off." she said with a straight face, as if anything she did could ever scare anyone. June stifled a laugh, and looked over to Zephyra who was masking her face in what she guessed was embarrassment. She quickly shook her head as if to ask who she was hiding her face from. Her conversation parter? That would be hilarious.
"Is Miator that strict?" June added in, trying to break the tension she was feeling from her sister.
