Name: Kokomi Tomura (Dark Chocolate)
School Attending: Lulim/ Le Rim
Age/ Year in School: 14/Third Year
~ Appearance ~
Kokomi has fairly pale skin and reddish brown eyes (though they tend to look more red than brown). Having been made fun of for her strange eye color as a child, she is almost never seen without her pitch black sunglasses. She keeps her appearance rather androgynous, having grown up as a little girl in a boys' world. She figured people were less likely to take advantage of her if she looked like a boy.
Face Claim: Dave Strider (Homestuck)
Hair Color: Platinum blonde
Hairstyle: Short and easy to care for, just the way she likes it.
Eye Color: Auburn (reddish brown)
Height: 5’1
What kind of clothes does your character wear when she's not in uniform?
Two words: Oversized. Everything. Kokomi loves anything warm and cozy, so baggy t-shirts and hoodies are her go-to items. She owns several pairs of rather worn-out converse high tops. It’s all about comfort.
What Clubs is you character involved in?
Cosplay/Sewing Club: Yes
Book Club: Yes
Manga/Anime Club: Yes
Is your character on the Student Council?
Nope.
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president?
N/A
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Kokomi (who actually prefers being called by her last name, Tomura) is friendly, good natured, and in a seemingly constant state of relaxation, moving through life as if nothing in the world bothers her. Because of this, her opinions are often quickly dismissed by those around her. Despite being what can only be described as a stereotypical stoner, Kokomi actually has a very insightful personality. Incredibly creative and thoughtful, she actively tries to view the world around her in ways that differ from the norm. As she often says, “It’s all about perspective”. Her kind heart and open ears tend to draw people to her rather quickly. She is without question a supportive friend, willing to make even difficult sacrifices upon request. This often leads her into playing the role of an advisor and therapist amongst her social circle. Though certain people may describe her as capricious, it is far more accurate to say she is simply silly and spacey and likes to go with the flow. But make no mistake: this does not mean she’s the type to fully trust others with ease. The kind, easygoing Kokomi is only the surface layer of her true personality, and that’s as far as she’ll allow most people to reach. Deep in her heart lives an everlasting pain; one she spends each passing day pretending not to feel. Like so many others, she hides behind her smile, never letting on that there’s a storm brewing beneath the surface.
What does your character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
It’s a nice way to get a little competitive spirit going, that’s for sure. The cute girls are just icing on the cake.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
She’s not too keen on the responsibility aspect, but it does look like fun.
What does your character think of the current etoiles?
Kokomi doesn’t know Akemi or Ayuki very well, but she believes they pair up well. Akemi seems like a fun person to be around, with her competitive streak and all. As for Ayuki...well, she’d be lying if she said she didn’t find everything about her absolutely adorable.
What does your character think of the other schools?
Kokomi isn’t a huge fan of Miator; she’s not into the whole ‘religion’ thing, nor does she like the rather stuffy atmosphere. She admires Spica’s spirit, but is once again put off by the strictness.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Lulim.
Kokomi was born in Japan, but spent the first twelve years of her life being raised by her father in the United States. Her parents divorced shortly after she was born; her mother, Umaru Tomura, remained in Japan while her father, Rindo Doma, left the country with her...which was technically considered kidnapping. The court had given her mother full custody due to her father being a drug dealer (though he referred to himself as an underground entrepreneur). Rindo wanted to groom her into a drug mule, a venture in which he was successful. By the age of eleven, Kokomi was an expert dealer. She never questioned her father, believing this life to be entirely normal...that is, until she met someone who finally told her the truth. He was an older boy, her senior by roughly six years, who worked for her father. Joker was his alias, though she tended to refer to him as simply ‘J’. The two became incredibly close over time, forming a sibling-esque bond with one another. He looked out for her, even going so far as to take on the more dangerous deals she was assigned to (which Rindo was never happy about). It was Joker who convinced her to leave the business when she turned thirteen, with his whole ‘You’re too young to let this ruin your life’ spiel. And in the end, it was Joker who gave his life in order to make that happen. Her father, so enraged by his daughter’s insolence, ordered his men to “knock some sense into her” without so much as blinking an eye. Badly wounded, but shockingly not dead, she managed to limp her way to Joker’s place after her father went to bed. The disgruntled teen promptly dressed her wounds, gave her his jacket and a large chunk of cash. He drove her to the airport and put her on the next flight to Japan, encouraging her to cut all ties with her American life. Several months later, she received a letter from a former associate stating that Joker was dead and if she wasn’t careful, she was next. This devastating blow caused something inside her to snap. Violent, angry urges began to consume her every waking thought. Terrified by this, but not wanting to worry her mother (who was already on edge about having a former drug dealer in her custody), she began to smoke marijuana on a daily basis. The plant seemed to be the only thing capable of soothing the beast within. Aware of this habit and eager to break it, Umaru did the only thing she felt would help: she sent her broken daughter off to boarding school. Because she cannot smoke on school grounds, Kokomi is frequently found sneaking off campus at night (often joining up with fellow stoner Arielle Haruno). When she is unable to get her fix, she can often be found writing songs in an old, tattered journal, which serves as an effective coping mechanism. Music is her only other escape (which is why she also DJs at her friends' parties as a side gig).

“Dude, watch it! That piece cost me last week’s paycheck, y’know.”
“C’mon, man, don’t hog it. Two puffs, then you pass. That was like...eighteen.”
Giggle fits and lazy chatter echoed throughout the smoke-filled room, making the ratty old basement feel almost cozy. As she looked around at all the familiar faces surrounding her, Kokomi couldn’t help the small grin tugging at her lips. This was her family. Her home. The one place she didn’t fear for her life. The one place where the smiles were always real, and the vibes were always good. Home. Immersed in her warm and fuzzy thoughts, she hardly had time to notice someone creep up behind her and envelop her in a bear hug.
A surprised yelp escaped her throat, earning her a few snickers from her roommates. “Jeez, J, you scared me…” She pouted, her pale cheeks flushed with embarrassment. The brunette flashed her a toothy grin, releasing his hold as he sat down beside her. “Couldn’t resist, Ace. It was just too easy.” After exchanging a few playful words, the two sat in silence for a while. When the boy finally spoke again, Kokomi was surprised to see his expression had become serious. “So, sis… Have you thought about it yet? Y’know...like, the whole leaving thing?”
Her eyes immediately clouded over, her gaze dropping to the floor. Joker had been begging her to consider leaving the business for nearly a year, his pleas getting more and more desperate over time. It hurt her heart, the way he cared for her. It almost made her wish she’d never let him get this close. “I dunno, man… I mean, I’m Rindo’s daughter. Getting out...it ain’t so easy for me, y’know?” Her voice wavered slightly, unused to speaking so seriously. “I know, I know. But for real, Ace, I just don’t wanna see you get hurt. If you get out now, you can get a fresh start. A real life. So… At least promise me you’ll think about it?” Oh man, there goes the big brother voice. He knew she couldn’t resist the big brother voice. After taking a good, long hit, she sighed softly. “...Yeah. Alright. I promise.” Smiling, the two locked their pinkies together. After all, pinky promises could never be broken.
