She couldn't deny the logic of the statement, or the punctual way in which it was delivered. She knew her title was unimportant here, but it was the last part of Vincenness she had available to her. Well, that and Tora. But no, he wasn't here. She unconsciously began to spin at the ring on her finger with her thumb. This was all her own doing now, and it would continue that way. Just because she had a certain future didn't mean she couldn't make it even better for herself. And the Queen clearly had an interesting proposal, one that she would simply not turn down.
"I suppose you're right there. Nobody would improve if everyone only challenged those above them. But I can't bring myself to bully an inferior opponent that way." she allowed herself a pause to finish her tea, and take a deep breath. This challenge was simply too good to be true. A Triathlon of tasks for her to prove herself against a Queen at? That would certainly raise her chances at Student Council, proving herself to be on that level or beyond. She crossed one leg over the other and rested a lazily balled on her chin.
"There is nothing to say no to. You've got yourself an opponent." she closed her eyes, a wry smile finding its way to her features accenting her already confident demeanor.
"A challenge of my choice would be Tennis, as I am most confident at that. I'm going to assume you'll task me with something you excel at as well, so I don't have any restrictions in choosing my own personal best."

This was such an excellent, exciting turn of events! Victoria Miller had walked into this rose garden with no intention other than to make it known she was the Queen. Maybe to flirt as well. Now she found herself matching wits with someone who was proving to be her equal in terms of cunning in a way that no other girl had yet been able to. If it were possible for the blonde to become more interested in this girl, that had just happened. No way was she going to let the opportunity to raise the stakes of their competition escape her grasp! Raion had not only accepted her challenge, she'd enthusiastically embraced it in a calm, refined way that a princess or noblewoman ought to. She seemed to be a natural talent! Faced with that there was no way Tori was backing down from any challenge no matter how little experience she had in whatever others suggested.
"Excellent to hear that you're game for my suggested challenge, Lioness. It will be an excellent way to probe each others' abilities extensively while we seek to prove our worth on the battlefields of Spica's sacred grounds. Tennis shall indeed be the first challenge, but do not think you are the only one who is experienced in it," Tori responded, reciprocating the redhead's gesture by crossing her left leg over the right as she spoke, "If I had to choose a single challenge it would be something on horseback.. perhaps I could arrange for you to have a horse for your use. Or perhaps we could partake in a test of skills on the ice, if that would suit you better."
Then she tapped her finger on the table and asked, "What are the ultimate stakes for the competition? And what should we challenge each other to do should we win a given challenge?"

There was a certainty in the way this was going that would lead them down a path of intense competition the likes of which Spica would never forget. So, what could the stakes be in such a battle? All Raion wanted out of this was worth to Spica. Recognition that she was, indeed, the best at what she does. She would take on anyone who claimed superiority to get this. She would take on anyone who thought they were her equal to achieve it. All in the grand name of Lion D'incendie. And when that effort paid off...
"Non." she snapped at the music of her choice. "I want no say in your decision. If it is something I've never done, I'll simply learn how to do it. Don't you dare hold back against me for any reason with any excuse." She held back a glare for the better of the conversation. Being wishy washy with her choice made it seem like she was taking it easy on Raion, which offended her. Ah,but there was talk of a victory prize. The long term was fun to imagine...
Yes, but the Queen was likely referring to a more immediate goal after that. Some tangible prize for the victor of this bet. Truth be told, Raion had little in the way of boon she could offer. She held no steed to take another on rides with, no interest in a truly deep friendship, was already engaged, and her worldly possessions were, except for her wardrobe, back home. What did she have that someone else could want? Surely she couldn't just be after communication. No, Raion had to propose an actual prize.
"I don't have any worldly desires. Just proving my worth is prize enough, and I'll be doing that regardless of the outcome." she crossed her arms. "But what could someone like me have to offer you if you were to win?"

"Then we shall hold the second portion of this competition in an equestrian sport. I'm certain one of my teammates would be willing to allow you to train with one of their horses," Tori replied to Raion, "However I will assure you that besting the Queen will be quite difficult, especially when she rides her noble steed Evvy."
French-inspired or not this redhead was proving to be quite the potential rival for Tori. Not only was she willing to accept a three part challenge, she was eager to compete in something she had never taken part in before. Perhaps that kind of attitude was foolish when you considered the advantage an opponent with experience would have. Tori simply applauded the enthusiasm which Raion threw herself into the fray, Such laudable spirit for someone who was going to be defeated by the tenacity of an Englishwoman in the end. Spica had gained a good deal of attention thanks to its prince, but now it would see a battle of Queen and Lioness. All of the hype which would occur in the process would do nothing but build up their school's reputation for chivalrous competition even further. That in mind she smiled as the redhead shifted the discussion to the nature of the prize whomever won the competition would receive.
"Such a noble statement of purpose, my dear Lioness. I shall honor your wishes in the event that you emerge victorious in the competition. However I wish for something tangible in the event of my own victory. Of course I am not wanting for money or fame, but there is something which you could provide me," Tori added with a smirk, "A date. Should I win this battle you will owe me a date of my choosing.. you appear to be excellent company, and It would be an honor to accompany you on an outing."

So, she would devote much of her free time between the challenge and now learning proper horse handling. So be it. Anything to win. Surely it couldn't be too difficult for someone like her to learn, could it? Still, she knew the risk of accepting such a challenge and knew it would surely lead to one mark of defeat. That didn't matter to her though, as the competition had three parts. One defeat was a worthy sacrifice if the third competition would be one she could defeat the Queen in. And she had full confidence that whatever it was, except for swimming, she could do it. If she went into a battle expecting defeat, it became a self fulfilling prophecy.
"I accept your challenge, and will spend much of my time learning the proper way to defeat you." her statement betrayed the truth, and she was sure they both knew it. However, then came the matter of the prize. What could someone like the Queen want from a Vincenness transfer stu--
Oh.
She unconsciously began rubbing the ring on her finger again with her thumb. That had to be a joke. Pseudo romance among all girls schools was commonplace, after all. She had many kouhai back home despite being a Second Year Intermediary Course. She knew how that sort of thing worked, for certain. But to declare it so suddenly? And in front of everyone like this? It was simply not an act she saw from the Filles De La Vincennes. Still, she had already adopted a kouhai here by force. What was winning one? Yes, that had to be what she meant. Even in victory, she was submitting to Lion D'incendie.
"I wasn't aware Spica had people like that as well. Very well then. Your terms aren't out of the question. Who shall decide our third event then?"

Everything was falling right into place for Tori as the redhead agreed to her terms without question. She'd have to work on her tennis game somewhat, but it was likely that she already possessed the necessary grace and agility to excel at it without too much background in it. Surely an Englishwoman would emerge victorious over someone who'd studied at a French styled school - even though by rights much of Astraea Hill was also organized along French lines. No matter. A Queen would persevere no matter how much French things had crept into her domain, and this would be a shining example of English glory. After all they tended to play 'Land of Hope and Glory' at graduation ceremonies, not "La Marseillaise"! A date with the redhead would be an amazing prize to claim as her own, and perhaps something more might grow out of it. For the time being a single date would be sufficient to motivate her to great deeds.
"Then it is settled. First a match of tennis, then of equestrian skills. Finally we shall have a third event that neither of us has chosen in order to be impartial as possible. That said I can think of no better recourse than to consult someone of great esteem, talent and dignity for that decision," Tori responded, then turned to the princes nearby, "My dear princes, what do you think we should have as a third competition?"
Then she smiled happily at Raion, "It takes all kinds to make this world we live in. I just happen to be that much more impressive than some."

The three princes looked between one another. Kisumi had no idea, but Kono was all kinds of fired up while Shoka looked entirely amused. Kono shot up with both hands in the air.
"A swimming competion, a relay!"
Shoka scoffed,
"Kono-san, does everything have to be a relay with you? A simple race might suffice."
The red head looked geuinely puzzled, "What's wrong with a relay?"
"A relay requires a team and a group effort, this is about the two of them facing off, not a team effort. Though you certainly get an A for dedication to your cause, it's hardly appropriate for this."
Konosuke pouted and sank to a seat.
"Ano..." peeped Kismi, "Maybe....kareoke?" She blushed, that was stupid, a really stupid idea, why would they--
"I LOVE IT!" shouted Kono, spirits lifted. "Yeah, Kareoke, it's totally out of the ordinary and totally different from anything else. I like your brain Kissu-chan!"
The praise made the pinkette shrink into herself, mroeso that Shoka also looked pleased with her idea, shyly she looked through her eyelashes between the the Queen and the Lioness. What did they think?

Hmm... That was something she had little experience in. Singing was foreign, but not unwanted. Surely it was a skill she could find use for later. Yes, she could agree to this. But not right away. First she gave her cub a congratulatory smile. A treasure that the kouhai would have to learn she must earn. All her fiery stances and motions were balled up in this instance, and she decided a more calm approach would fit.
"I'll agree to those terms. But that is less a matter of raw skill and more one of opinion." she gave her cub another look. "As the one who suggested it, you will be an audience. The Queen may choose one as well, and a third will come of their own choice."
There was a lot to plan for now. For one, she would need to learn to ride a horse. She would also need to learn to sing, even at a beginner level. Finally, she would require a little brushing up to decimate at Tennis. And she would do all of it within...
"When do you want to hold this?" she asked.

Something magical happened while the redhead offered her response to the final leg of the competition which the pinknette had suggested. More and more her attention was being drawn away from her fellow campus royalty and toward the newly arrived girl. Of course it was annoying that she had the stylings of the perfidious French lacing her choice of words, but nobody was perfect. What grabbed the Englishwoman's attention was the smile which Raion graced the girl she was speaking to. Obviously it was not meant for Tori herself but she could certainly enjoy the view regardless. Should she emerge victorious in this competition she hoped to draw that treasure out many times when they went on their date. Yes, that would have to be her motivation to win beyond simple pride and a desire to prove English superiority. As for the third competition leg..
"You have no disagreement from myself either, so we have our competition set. Tennis, equestrian and karaoke shall be the events which determine the winner of our competition," Tori agreed, smiling in response to Raion's. Then there was the choice of a judge, which appropriately the Lioness had suggested each competitor select one with a third coming on her own. As it was Tori knew exactly whom she intended to invite. She nodded to Shoka, "Prince Shoka will be my judge for this competition, owing to her noble standing within Spica and status as its Student Council President. I can think of no one better to help adjudicate the third portion of our competition, should she accept."
Then the blonde considered Raion's last question, "Perhaps we should allow around a month at least for all the preparations to be made? That way we can properly build up the excitement for our competition - perhaps we could even use it as a fundraiser for Spica? I'll leave those sort of details to Prince Shoka, obviously, but it is an idea."

The first year sat silently, observing the situation that had begun and concluded as quickly as it could. Princes, princesses, a Queen, and there was little Jill with her camera around her neck, waiting for the perfect shot. She held herself in a relaxed position up until the idea was mentioned that it could be a fundraiser. That was an idea, oh yes. One that should be published in her little weekly extras.
"Now there's an idea I can help with." she spoke quickly. "You get everything set, and I'll get the story into the hands of the students."
She didn't bother introducing herself, or explaining why she had been silent this whole time. There was no point when she was comfortable this way. As a first year, she was probably the youngest member of the club, and thus her appeal lay within the Imouto effect. Everyone who wanted her to be their host had some sort of desire for a little sister, and she was happy to oblige. The fun was in the information she gained, and the ways she could use it. Influential newspapers always had good stories and remained neutral, so she just wrote the facts and took good pictures.
Her position here helped her get both, as well as plenty of gossip from the lonely student here and there. She gave a nod to Shoka as if to say 'I'm not waiting for your approval to do this' and raised her camera to her face, pointing it at Raion and Victoria.
"Let's have a good cover shot yeah?"
