Haruka reacted in the manner that Takara had become accustomed to. Typically, she seemed to act as if she was thoroughly frustrated with...well, everything that Takara did...but, that was not to say that the brunette harbored any actual ill will! Quite to the contrary, Takara had recently come to understand just what sort of feelings the daughter of Oh had towards her. And she could not have been happier to find that out. As she led the way towards the dance floor she waved a hand.
"Don't be silly, Haru-chan. That dress looks lovely especially because you're wearing it!" she beamed, "Just watching some boring mannequin wear it wouldn't do at all."
If only the rest of the court could be present to admire Haruka! And then they could all admire Ubu, too. Of course that probably went without saying. She WAS a Grand Prince, after all. Their absence, however, would not deter the blonde from enjoying her time at another Winter Ball. Especially when she had the chance to spend some more time with Haruka. She giggled a little bit at Haruka's trepidation for dancing. It was a rare sight to see Haruka act in such a way.
"You have nothing to worry about!" she reassured her, "The only important thing about dancing, is having fun!"

"They suite you very well, I am pleased you like them "
Eri smiled Miyamiya was a sweet girl and she was such a good person, very creative that was very true and for her to enjoy the gift made Eri happy. She listened to her room mate speak, she in her own way was very charming it was a nice change of pace. You see so far the princes around the school where charming yet but a tad over welming at times. So having a room mate that made her feel happy and always seemed to care about her was nice.
Eri noticed Miyamiya had taken her up for the offer. " well , please correct. Me if I am wrong but would you maybe get more Intel on the schools if you blended in a bit more... Maybe if you and I danced ... It um would be a good cover. .. That is if you think it would work.."
She didn't know why but she was blushing and it showed. Which only made Eri more shy she tried to make it sound like a mission. Which it was right? But a mission for what? Was it one to get closer to her mysterious roommate, but why Eri hadn't thought of the girl as anything more ... Right ?

No matter how much she heard someone compliment her Haruka Oh was still getting used to the idea that people found her fetching. Grand Prince Ubu was the exception to this rule, but that was because of the universal fact that Ubu was the exception to almost everything. That was what made her special. Takara reaffirming that she was lovely because of who wore it made the brunette blush in surprise and humility. Up until recently she would have been the one offering such high words of praise to a girl who wasn't sure of herself. Now she was that girl who wasn't sure of herself, and it was the formerly nefarious blonde with strange tastes in decorating offering support. The samurai continued to drag her feet even as she appreciated the kind words the blonde was offering her. Haruka didn't know if dancing was the kind of thing she wanted to do as a romantic event or if it would be too embarrassing in front of the whole of the Hill. In a rare time of uncertainty she found herself tugging on Takara's arm and feeling incredibly insecure.
".. 'Tis all well and good for you to say such things, but you clearly have the knowledge and skill to perform admirably at dancing yourself. Verily, you have greater capacity for this exercise than I," Haruka responded to her, clutching the blonde's arm tightly and trying to anchor them to the floor in the process. If they couldn't move they couldn't go onto the dance floor.
Then she bit her lip and quietly suggested, "Perhaps the more experienced dancer could instruct a humble samurai on how to move her feet and not make a fool of herself?"

MiyaMiya marveled at the fact that someone had bothered to get her a present for whatever winter holiday was around the corner. Her past experience had been without such gestures, family being so unsupportive that she was simply expected to pass important events without even realizing their importance. That was typical clonebot behavior for you. They were programmed and designed to look and sound like the real thing but ultimately they had no capacity for human emotion. Dark magics couldn't create something that was alien to them and emotions fit that bill perfectly; that which made someone human was out of their reach. So the simple gift of goggles had brightened her evening more than Eri had probably thought it would. It was a sign that they were closer than just acquaintances that the whitenette didn't reject MiyaMiya's 'true identity' and was willing to give her a present. Actually it felt a little bad getting something but having nothing to offer in return. The secret agent made sure her boxes were out of the path of foot traffic before thinking about the suggestion her roommate made. Was that a good idea? It sounded like it was something that Eri wanted to do a lot, and since she had no present for the girl..
"Ah-ha! That's just what I'd expect from angelic insight. Look around us," her arm swept across the field of vision, indicating all the girls dancing, "There are so many people here entering into heightened states of emotion that this room has a very increased chance of being charged with magical energy fields. The sort that aren't just present every day but have the potential to change the world with but a single powerful caster's thought! Therefore it would be best to get close and analyze the signs just in case someone tries to take advantage of it."
MiyaMiya offered her hand to her roommate and grinned, "Shall we? I promise that I'll protect you in case of clonebot attack."

Another catgirl! Another catgirl! Tiernya was so over joyed at finding another, real catgirl, that she didn't think about how the girl would feel about suddenly being hug by this strange catgirl. But then, Tiernya didn't really think about things like that. After all, everyone loves hugs, right? Then the catgirl wrapped her arms around her and hugged her back!
'Yes! Tirnya is a catgirl!' she responded, nodding enthusiastically. 'So are mew! Mew are also a catgirl, nya!' She blinked as the other catgirl, Yulecat, continued to speak. 'A cathug, nya?' The blonde catgirl giggled. 'Cathug!' She squeezed Yulecat, nuzzling against her cheek. 'Will mew be my friend, Yulecat, nya?' Then Yulecat said something that Tiernya loved. 'Baking? Mew are baking?' She released Yulecat from her cathug and took the other catgirls paws in her own. 'Yes! Yes! Tiernya wants to help mew with what mew are baking!' She jumped up and down excitedly. 'Tiernya will help mew with baking smakedowns!'

She wasn't there. She wasn't in the auditorium. Etain swallowed. She'd missed Esther. Her right hand reached up and squeezed her left upper arm, just below the shoulder. She'd taken so long that the purplentte, the most important person in her life, had got fed up and had left. She's left. She could feel the depression begin to fill her up. She swallowed again, shook her head and pushed those thoughts down. Maybe Esther was also running late. Or maybe she was on the far side of the dance floor, which was filled with couples dancing. So don't go jumping to conclusions before you've had a chance to look around, She forced herself to release her arm, lower her hand to her side. With a sigh, Etain was about to enter the auditorium, when she felt arms wrap around her waist, a cheek resting on her shoulder. A form pressing against her back. And the most wonderful sound she'd ever heard. The voice of an angel. An angel who could probably knock Etain out cold, sure. But an angel nonetheless.
Etain gently leaned her head against the angel known as Esther's, her eyes closed and a smile on her lips. She reached up and lightly placed her hands over Esthers. 'Hey, there beautiful,' she said. 'What brings you to-' But before she could finish, Esther said something that Etain hadn't expected, but had longed for.
Without a word, the redhead spun to face Esther, wrapped her arms around her neck and planted her lips on her girlfriends lips. As the kiss continued, Etain stepped closer to Esther, trying to get across, not only her own feelings, but also what hearing those three words, spoken by the one person she most wanted to hear them from, meant to her. Despite how much of a flirt, and a smooth talker she was, Etain wasn't confident with expressing her feelings, especially when those feelings were powerful, such as they were for Esther. So she did the only thing she knew would get her feelings across.
After several minutes, Etain broke the kiss, panting, her cheeks aflame. She looked into Esther's eyes, hoping her girlfriend understood what she meant. How much she meant to her.
How much she loved her.

This Tiernya girl was a formidable opponent when she got her mind set on a goal. That first seizure of the Yule Cat had simply been to get a hold of the Holiday Horror, but now the real fight began. Her opponent was cinching in the cathug like there was no tomorrow, rubbing her check with Chifu's. Some kind of taunting to add to the submission maneuver no doubt. Literally rubbing it in that you couldn't do anything to stop her powerful cathug and might as well just tap as soon as it was locked in. This all made so very much more sense than she had anticipated when the change of gimmick went down! Around the time that the other catgirl grappler let go of her signature move Chifu had a sudden inspiration which had the potential to shake the Winter Ball to its very foundations! Tiernya wanted a friend, to help the Yule Cat bake smackdowns. That didn't sound like someone to feud with so much as someone to help bring terror to opposition with!
"We are both catgirls, Tiernya. Both of us came here for different reasons but fate has brought us across each others' paths. There's no other possible end to this than what was set in motion by the Holiday Spirits themselves," Chifu responded with a big grin at the catgirl's excitement. You simply didn't turn away this kind of enthusiasm for baking, be it desserts or smackdowns for misled pretenders. With her hands on Tiernya's shoulders she looked into the blonde's eyes, raised an eyebrow in a charismatic way and announced, "There's no reason for us to be against each other Tiernya. We are the same of form and mind. So I have just one question... are you ready to make the rest of these people smeeeeeeelll.. what the Catgiirl... is baking?"
Then she dramatically gestured toward their public, "We are the Catgirl Connection! The greatest. most dangerous tag team in the world! And together we bake smackdowns for anyone who gets in our way!"

Esther really didn't know what had made her decide to say those three words right then and there to her girlfriend. She vaguely remembered hearing her adoptive fathers telling each other that, but they hadn't been the warmest people in the world when it came to displays of affection. Growing up she hadn't been encouraged to be soft or feminine; her wrestling and self defense training had seen to that. Her big sister had started to bring out the natural girlish side of Esther out and Astraea Hill had done the rest. Since that first incident with the now-graduated fakey fake Etoile Akemi Aracelli there hadn't been any incidents of her lashing out in a manner that countered her efforts to be more feminine. Maybe all of that had contributed to her feeling more vulnerable? Certainly without her brutish self-defensive behavior she had less to shield herself from life's pains. People got close to her now. As the redhead turned to face her Esther realized that it might be because she was so afraid of losing Etain that she'd resorted to saying what was deep in her heart.
The result of the statement had been to create a heated moment of passion in the heart of winter. Her girlfriend held her close and met Esther's lips fully, charging the moment with desperate passion that almost overwhelmed the Israeli. This hadn't happened to her since that day in the auditorium with the goddess of Spica, she realized. However the two kisses were different in a fundamental way; the goddess' had been otherworldly, sudden and demanding where Etain's was loving, warm and somewhat expected. Not necessarily expected in the moment but overall Esther had expected they would kiss eventually. Just not at the Winter Ball after Esther herself had confessed her full feelings for the redhead. Event though everyone had to be watching she let herself fall fully under Etain's spell, pulling herself closer to the passionate girl as the kiss deepened. If she let go now she was going to lose everything they'd built together! Esther anchored herself to Etain, feeling comforted by the other girl's warmth; there was security in that close embrace which told her everything was going to be all right. The world went by as they kissed but eventually the girls needed to come up for air, at which point Esther's cheeks were similarly quite warm and rosy.
"I know, Etain," she whispered, smiling contentedly, squeezing the girl's waist, "It's really hard to say isn't it? But.. I understand.. and I love you too."
After giggling a little she added, "Just one thing.. can we avoid the cake this year? I don't want a dessert adding decoration to my dress."

The few seconds since she had asked her question of Yulecat were the longest in Tiernya's life! Would the other catgirl turn her down? Did she not like hugs? But who couldn't like hugs? Hugs were... just so... nya! Why was she taking so long to say if she wanted to be friends? Tiernya's ears flattened against her head as she waited for Yulecat. But then Yulecat began talking.
It wasn't what Tiernya was expecting, and some of the things she said confused the blonde catgirl, but then Yulecat smiled! And smiles were a good thing! Then Yulecat put her hands on her shoulders, and Tiernya knew that it was good! 'We are, nya! We are both catgirls!' Tiernya placed her hands on Yulecat's shoulders and nodded. 'Yes! Let's bake!'
Tiernya looked over at the other people in the big room, dancing she thought it was called. 'Yes! We're the Catgirl Connyection! And we will bake loads of smakedowns for everyone, nya' she called out, a huge smile on her face, even though she wasn't sure what she was saying. Though baking smackdowns for everyone sounded fun! And it was a good way to make new friends!

Feeling Esther step closer to her, feeling the warmth of her body against her, feeling her return the kiss sent Etain's heart beating fast and hard against her ribs. She felt safe, secure, grounded in Esther's embrace. She felt stable, which was something she hadn't felt in such a long time. Happy, without being manic. And it was all thanks to Esther.
She didn't want the kiss to end, didn't want the feelings and the sensations to end. But her lungs were screaming for air, so, reluctantly, she broke the kiss, rested her forehead on Esther's. 'I... I...' She swallowed. 'I... I...' I love you! She closed her eyes, swallowed. 'I... I... I...!' I love you, Esther! I love you and I don't care who knows! But no matter how loudly she cried in her mind, it just vanished between her mind and her mouth. She scrunched her eyes and kissed Esther again. 'I... I'm sorry,' she whispered. 'I... want to say it... but...' She sighed. 'I will say it. I will tell you how I feel, I promise Esther.'
She felt the familiar creeping of depression sneaking up on her and tried her best to fight it. But it was hard, and she wasn't sure if she could stop it. Until she heard something that could always bring a smile to her lips. Esther giggling. Etain couldn't help but chuckle with Esther. 'Well, that's a shame,' she said holding her girlfriend close to her. 'I was kind of looking forwards to eating cake off you again. Besides,' she continued. 'You look good in cake. Just like you look beautiful in everything you wear or do.'

Even though they'd been girlfriends for a number of months Esther still didn't know everything there was to know about Etain. That fact ensured that any meeting or date was an opportunity for discovery with the redhead, and in a way it was reassuring to the purplenette. Being born half foreign had made her feel very out of place in her mother's land of birth. She didn't know the customs all that well, even the language tripped her up sometimes despite her active study of it from a young age. What she'd heard was that Japanese people could have trouble getting to know half-foreign people, and she'd worried that girls here wouldn't trust her. Yet Etain trusted her enough to let Esther see her in less than flattering moments, when she was most vulnerable. Somehow the redhead had a lot of trouble saying the three words which the Israeli had surprised herself by speaking. There was intense concentration as her girlfriend fought to say something, but somehow couldn't get it to come out. Something was stopping it. Nervousness struck Esther, worrying there might be someone else in Etain's heart. Or perhaps she just couldn't get herself to say something so intimate and deep yet. Rather than give up Esther decided on the spot that she'd fight to help Etain through whatever it was that gave her trouble saying it.
Her eyes were bright as Etain lamented not getting to eat cake off of her again. Esther didn't really mind Etain doing that so much as the idea of ruining another dress by knocking a cake onto herself for the second year in a row. She also wasn't terribly keen on the idea of trying the punch again. Last year it had led to the events which caused cake to fall on her in the first place. Now she was in a good place with her girlfriend, the last thing she needed was another embarrassing accident like that. Being flattered wasn't something she was used to at all, so a massive blush and fidgeting replaced her confidence as Etain complimented her. Only the redhead spoke to her that way.. well, besides the goddess, whom she hadn't seen in months. If Etain was nervous about anything maybe Esther could do something to get her mind off of whatever hung her up! Without any further warning Esther leaned in and kissed Etain again. This time she closed her eyes and held the kiss for a while, though not as long as Etain had held the first one. After all Esther had suddenly thought of words to say which might help the redhead feel better.
"I don't plan to make dessert accessories an annual tradition," she teased before whispering, "Don't worry about saying it.. it's a hard thing to say. And whatever's bothering you, I'm not gonna go anywhere.. so I'm here with you. And I know how you feel. You wouldn't kiss me like that if you felt differently, would you? Just take the time you need, I'll be ready when you can do it. And before then I'll be reminding you how pretty you are, how wonderful you are and how happy I am with you.."

Truly this was a weirder promo than anything Chifu had cut before, given their surroundings. You didn't typically involve sudden swerves in a character's introductory promo but that was up to the detective-turned-catgirl. Maybe she'd been building up to a character transition the likes of which nobody could possibly have expected for months. Some kind of epic storyline in which the Observer had suggestions of feline ferocity and cunning in her mind yet couldn't explain why. Sudden appearances of cat ears on her head as she investigated opponents backstage. Stuff like that to really lead up to a dramatic change of character right in public! What more public venue was there than a Ball like this one? Chifu nodded in approval as Tiernya shared her enthusiasm for baking smackdowns, which merely confirmed her suspicions about the girl's build up to the change. Excellent!
"The Catgirl Connection is the most dangerous, dynamic, daring team in all the land! No one can hide from what we provide! No one can tell what it is that we smell! And nobody, I mean nobody can avoid the smackdowns we bake!" she announced dramatically, then shrugged and pulled Tiernya into a hug of approval, "Together we're going to show the world what catgirls can do! The one and only team of Tiiiiernyaaaaaa and the YUUUUUULE CAAAAAT!"
Then she paused for a moment before deciding, "You, my friend, need entrance music. Something that fits your personality, character and drive.. any favorite songs?"

The Catgirl Connection. Tiernya had no idea what it means, but she'd met another catgirl! And they were now friends! And they were going to bake smackdowns together! Tiernya didn't know what a smackdown was, but they sounded wonderful! Yulecat hugged her, which Tiernya returned, mewing happily. 'Yes! Yes! We will show the world what catgirl can do!' Tiernya hugged Yulecat tightly, then jumped up and down excitedly. 'Tiiiiiernya and Yuuuulecaaaat!' she shouted, doing her best to copy Yulecat.
Then Yulecat asked her a question that no one had asked Tiernya before. 'Mewsic? Mewsic?' She tilted her head cutely, thinking if she had favourite music. 'I don't know, nya,' she said, her ears flattening slightly. 'I'm sorry, Yulecat, nya.' She took hold of tail and began to play with it nervously. 'Can we still be friends, nya?'

Had they really been together for a few months? Etain couldn't believe it. It felt like they had been together for a lot longer, but it also felt like they'd only just met. She knew some of Esther's past, but not all of it. She felt a little guilty, as she'd kept a number of things about her past, about herself from her girlfriend. They weren't entirely big things, they were more things the redhead found... embarrassing, guilty about. But she would tell Esther about them, she loved Esther, and Esther loved her. But it wasn't an easy thing to talk about.
Seeing Esther's eyes brighten brought a smile to Etain's lip. She could tell that Esther didn't find the idea in and of itself unpleasant, but she probably didn't want to ruin her dress. And Etain could understand why. It was such a beautiful dress, worn by such a beautiful girl. Though she did always enjoy seeing Esther blush. It was just so cute! She was about to say as much, when her girlfriend surprised her for the second time in ten minutes. She kissed her! Of course the surprise was short lived, before Etain was kissing Esther back.
Esther broke the kiss and whispered something to her. Something which brought a blush to Etain's cheeks, a smile to her lips and caused her heart to flutter in her chest. For the first time in her life, the redheaded girl didn't know what to say. She swallowed, tears pricking the corners of her eyes as her smile grew. She shook her head, not entirely trusting her voice right then. She kissed Esther's forehead, nose, cheeks and a kiss to the lips, before she rested her forehead on her girlfriends. 'I... I said... those words to someone once,' she whispered. 'She... laughed at me, said they could never love a... a freak like me and left me.' She swallowed. 'I know you won't do that, as you said it first. But,' She sighed and swallowed again. 'I told them something before I said that. And... I'm... afraid.' She choked back a sob. 'I don't want to lose you, Esther. But... I... want to, need to tell you. My big secret.' She looked around. 'But not here, not now. After the Ball.' She kissed Esther again, then smiled at her. 'For now, let's dance!' With that she dragged Esther to the dance floor.
She pushed thoughts of what happened to her, and thoughts of what she had to tell Esther, and how, from her mind for now, she would enjoyed the time with her girlfriend.
For, in her darkest fears, the last time.

An experienced grappler could tell when someone was new to the arena. Tiernya wasn't sure how to present herself as a solid character just yet based on how she reacted to baking smackdowns and taking on the world with her cat--like reflexes. That was pretty much what Chifu assumed to be the case based on what she'd seen and past experience with people who hadn't been involved in this kind of stuff before. She was doing an admirable job of learning on the spot though. That attempt to copy Chifu's promo style made the Yule Cat smile brightly. This girl had potential! Now she just had to cultivate the character which she was trying to bring out, make it her own and define just what it meant to be a catgirl. In that respect she had a head start on a pure rookie in that she already had a look and a finishing move, two things that could take a long time for a newcomer to develop.
"Don't you worry about a thing, my friend! Leave these kinds of decisions to the undefeated, undisputed champion of entrance music selection.. the one and only Yule Cat!" she responded excitedly when Tiernya admitted to not knowing of anything good. Proper music set the stage for you, established who you were without needing anything so much as a word out of your mouth. After a moment of thinking Chifu gave Tiernya a pat on the head and told her, "We're gonna start with an entrance theme for the whole Catgirl Connection! That way we both have the same music and you can figure stuff out for yourself as we go along. Plus we're a team so it totally fits that we'd have matching music and all that. Leave it to the Holiday Horror to select something for the two of us to bake smackdowns to."
