For a few months now, me and a couple others*coughEaglecough* have been talking about a certain project I've been working on, and using words and names that mean nothing to everyone else in the cbox. So I decided to start a thread, not only to clear a few things up, but just as somewhere to put my none SPRP related things, though there probably will be some SPRP related things at some point in the future. It'll also stop me flooding the cbox with my random nonsense. Anyhoo, on with the clearing up of confusion!
DYMG: Dark Yuri Magical Girl. The abbreviation of a magical girl story I've been working on since November. It was what I was doing for NaNo. It's actual title is 'Vampire Hunter Tsuki'.
NMG/MMG: Natural Magical Girl/Military Magical Girl. The two types of magical girls that appear in DYMG.
NaNo: Short for NaNoWriMo. National Novel Writing Month. Every November a kind of writing contest takes place, where the idea is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. At the end, if you've done it, you get a certificate, and a few other things. Now, you don't have to have finished your novel(god knows i've never been anywhere near the end of the six novels i've done for NaNo!), you just have to have done the 50k words by the end of the 30th of November. It's fun, and has a great forum where you'll find the answer to almost any question you might have.
Now, on to the main part of the thread: my creative nonsense!
Two groups of magical girls, one natural, one created by the military, fight against extra-dimensional creatures called Vampires to keep them from resurrecting a Lovecraftian abomination. If they can work together.
That's the basic premise of the story. It's a lot more complicated than that, but that's the jist of it. The best way to think of it is Sailor Moon, mixed with Madoka Magica, with a touch of Freezing, a smidge of Strike Witches, a pinch of Mai-Hime, a teeny bit of Noir and a fair bit of Lovecraft. With extra helpings of yuri ^_^
There are only ever twelve NMG's, one for each zodiac sign. And each NMG has a mark on their body that relates to the body part that their sign controls; Aries is the head, Taurus is the throat, etc. They also have powers relating to the element of their sign, and a familiar that is related to their powers as well. No one other than an NMG can see the familiar, but when the familiar feels someone else looking at them, it's time for the NMG to step down and pass the mantle on to the next one. The NMG and familiar find the new girl and explain everything to her. When she accepts what she's been told, and has agreed to become a magical girl, the old NMG passes on her powers. This is done by, well, kissing.
The MMG's don't have a limit on their numbers. At the mo there are about 80 named MMG's, though only a few have been named in story. Each city around the world has their one MMG's cuz the Vampires are a worldwide threat. Oh, and everyone knows about them. The military goes to schools and tests girls(they're about 11 at this stage). If they pass the test, they have a high synch ratio with the Seed(where the MMG gain their powers from), they're taken to the MMG HQ closest to their home city. There they are given schooling, with more focus on PE. At 14 they begin basic unarmed combat training, and more military based training. At 15 they're implanted with a training Seed, and their magical training begins. 16 is when their basic military training begins, including firearms, and melee weapons training. 18-20 is when they're given their codename and actually become an official member of the Anti-Vampire Taskforce. The group the story follows are the 501st Taskgroup, numbering about 80, with more in training.
The AVT are split into four units, which are Archangels, Classicals, Norse and Egyptian. The Classicals are all rounders, the Norse are the heavy hitters and the Egyptians are more defensive/sealers. Their codenames are selected based on partly what unit they're a member of, but also their synch ratio as well as their abilities. The Archangels are selected from the top four of each of the other three units. They're the best of the best, as it were. But they can also be selected from anywhere in the other units, if that girl has performed exceptionally well, or done something exceptional, well above what is expected. Such as Selenia, the current Micheal(head of the Archangels, and thus the entire Taskgroup of a city) of the 501st. She was selected to be the new Micheal at the age of 16(the youngest Micheal ever) due to her taking out a level 10 Vampire almost single handedly, while protecting several wounded comrades.
The Vampires, or as the military call them Extra-Dimensional Entities, shorted to Eddies, are extra-dimensional Lovecraftian monsters. No one knows where they come from, what they want. They enter our dimension through rifts that they generate themselves. They feed on the emotions of humans, which is how they function in our dimension. They are able to do this by creating a pocket dimension, a tear which leads to an abstract world, where the Vampires Shadow resides. The pocket dimension is designed to heighten the emotions of the victim, so the Shadow can easily drain the emotions of the human. When a human is drained by a Vampire, or a Vamps Shadow, they become a Reaver.
Reavers are basically mindless killers. They kill without remorse, and randomly, at the Vampires whim. Which heightens the fear of the area the Reaver is active in. Which means more emotions for the Vamp to drain. Reavers are pack hunters as well, and also herd victims to a pocket dimension, where the victim is added to the Vamps horde of Reavers. When a Reaver has either killed a large number of people, or herded a fair number towards a Vamp, they turn into a Revenant. Revenant's are formed by a Reaver who has lost the last trace of their humanity and begin to eat their murder victims. They then begin to mutate and are completely at the Vampires control. Reavers can be saved, by killing the Vamp or the Shadow. Revenants can't be saved.
So yeah, that's the basics of the world of my Dark Yuri Magical Girl story. Though, to be honest, most of the characters about at least eighteen, and some are twenty five. One of the characters, Talia, sums up the premise quiet well.
So, yeah, there we go. It's longer than i was expecting. I'll probably post some of the sketches I've done for it in another post, interspersed with random sketches.
Oh yeah, there is a teeny bit of a link to SPRP... I've based some of the characters in DYMG on characters here ^_^ Though I've asked before I've used the characters.

'Being a member of the 501st isn't a walk in the park. Being a “magical girl” isn't like they depict it in those anime nor manga. It isn't about love and justice and fluffy bunnies puking out rainbows. You won't be fighting bad guys that can be saved by the power of love. These are monsters, who want nothing more than the destruction of the human race and everything you hold dear.'
