Is your character on the Student Council? Yes
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president? A true kindled spirit nurtured by the respectful quality of leadership! Raiko respects president Himiko's love of sports and adventures. Likewise to the Etoile Akemi Araceli, she would not mind one day challenging her to a friendly race. Overall, she is proud to serve under her on the student council and thinks of her as a wonderful leader.[/p]
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
A free spirit with the simple desire of living life to the absolute fullest! Raiko is like an explosive firework colored with the warmth of friendliness, compassion, and determination to never give up. Her electric personality always urges her to try to overcome any obstacle thrown at her no matter how hard the challenge and one can always call her out of a crowd by the huge signature, tomboyish grin that is always adorning her lips. There is very little that can put a damper on her bubbly mood!
Despite the handicap of her prosthetic legs, instead of simply throwing in the towel, Raiko, determined to serve as an inspiration to others, has strived to become a professional runner. She hopes that if she achieves her dream, others will follow in her admirable footsteps seeing as someone of her condition can do just as well as any other. As she puts it, running “frees the soul and ignites a fire unlike anything else in the world!” Additionally, Raiko is a girl that will be willing to be anyone’s friend no matter how cold. She is known for her stubbornness, however, so if you manage to tick her off or try to persuade her otherwise on a certain topic, the effort would be in vain and she might not forgive that easily.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole? A charming position testing romance and friendship! She admires the Etoile’s abilities to work together as well as the deep friendship associated with the position. It is a position she respects to the fullest.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? She would very much like to give it a shot one day, that is, if someone would be as kind enough to give her a running chance to stand beside them as their loyal partner. She’d hope to inspire others to strive for their best in life no matter the obstacles if she ever got a chance to run.
What does your character think of the current etoiles? A bit of an arrogant champion and an adorable youth. She finds herself able to connect with Akemi in terms of her complex personality, and would much like one day to challenge her to a friendly race if the opportunity ever arose. Likewise, she would someday be interested in befriending her if possible. Another free spirit unafraid of this ever changing world would be great to have as a friend! As for Ayuki, Raiko thinks of her as simply adorable and sometime would love to encourage her to open up and experience all the diversity the world has to offer.
What does your character think of the other schools? Raiko’s opinions on Miator and Lulim are neutral, though she feels Miator should be a little more lenient on their rules, however. Being trained in the ways of a proper lady is all fine and great, but everyone should be able to have a little fun every once in a while! As for its rivalry with her own school Spica, she feels nothing towards it. It won’t really get any of the schools anywhere with all their bickering, and she really feels like they should just drop the whole silly thing. Submissive, independent, lady-like; why can’t everyone just be free to choose to live like they decide instead of bickering about the differences?
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Spica.
History before Astraea Hill:
Raiko grew up as an only child in a small house in Kyoto, Japan. With family spread out overseas in America, she began her yearly trips to America with her successful parents when she was just one year old. She was a fun-loving child with a love of running and a longing to be friends with just about anyone who waltzed into her lighthearted path. If there were bullies to be punished, she’d challenge them to a race, knowing they would never beat her. If there was a girl to be comforted, she would sit with them with a huge grin on her face just like they had been friend for years.
Everything soon came crashing down on the frightful summer of her eleventh year of life. Literally. When flying on a private airplane to America with her father as well as roughly thirty business associates and her just discovered to be pregnant mother, the airplane’s engine faltered and went down in a fiery crash just on the very tip of Washington. No one but her survived the crash, and she entered a devastating two-month coma doctor’s were sure she would cease to wake from. She soon awoke to discover herself very much alive, but on account of one thing... With her single survival came the loss of her legs which had been so severely injured in the crash, they had to be amputated just below the knees.
Struggling with her new prosthetic legs, Raiko spent the next two years learning how to walk again in the hospital. It was over this stressful period of time that she earned the fond nickname of “Hope” by the American doctors that looked over her. There had been so many times where she just wanted to give up with the loss of her legs, but she kept herself strong no matter what. Be it hope or just the will to make something of her shattered life, she succeeded in walking and soon discovered her ability to run just like before when a runaway wheelchair bound patient almost struck a railing and plummeted to the first floor lobby thirty feet below.
Soon it came time for her to be discharged from the hospital, having been deemed strong enough to return to life as normal with her cousin – a self-employed female artist – in New York. She happily agreed to live with her cousin and nearly one month within living with her discovered Astrea Hill. She instantly became set on attending it and begged her cousin to join. Her cousin consented and sent her off with encouraging words, “No matter the obstacle, as long as you try, you will always see it to the end. I am sure you will change the hearts of many people, Raiko-chan, no matter how insignificant your existence might seem at time. As long as you keep your spirit free, you’ll be able to do anything in this world. I can you promise that.“

“She’s waking up!”
“Don’t move too fast now, Hattori-san. You don’t want to hurt yourself.”
“She doesn’t know, does she? I hope she doesn’t freak out.”
“Just stay calm and she will too.”
A glaring overhead ceiling light greeted Raiko’s dilated emerald orbs as they fluttered open for the first time in two months. She tried to draw in a breath but her chest screamed in protest at the foreign presence of life-giving oxygen. Where was she?
A small crowd of shadows loomed above her, blurred by the intense florescence of the light. They swirled in distorted, frightening shapes that compelled her to desire to cringe away from them. When they became clearer, five unfamiliar faces riddled with the heavy concern of masked doctors leaned toward her.
“Can you sit up, Hattori-san?”
“Don’t strain yourself if you can’t.”
Sit up? The muffled words almost sounded foreign to her. She was pretty sure she could sit up even after just waking up from a coma. It was just…something felt off. Very off.
“Would you like some help?”
“Her vitals are steady so far.”
Her whole body ached as she desperately tried to ease herself up to no avail. Everything hurt. Her head was pounding. The most concerning of it all was her legs. They felt heavy and useless. Like they weren’t even there.
“Dr. Ishida, assist her please.”
A lukewarm gloved hand soon snaked around her sore right shoulder and helped her sit up, remaining in the center of her back to help stabilize her just in case she collapsed backwards. Her spine felt weak and occasional ripples of pain shivered up its stiff length. Was she sitting up now? She could not tell. Another stranger hand reached out to steady her, but she pushed it away. Something was wrong. Something was definitely wrong with her legs. As she weakly proceeded to pull away the pale cloth blanket that concealed her lower half a shower of additional persistent hands rained down to halt her. The hand that had been on her back suddenly left it temporarily to bat them away.
“Dr Ishida, wh-what are you doing?”
“She’s bound to discover it sooner or later. It’s best she knows the truth right now rather than later.”
The four mournful doctors respectfully stepped back from the blonde haired girl upon the head female doctor’s request. With a glance at the concerned doctor, the dazed girl once again clutched the blanket…and pulled it off. A sickening feeling churched deep within her stomach and her eyes widened in shock upon the sight her sleepy eyes fell upon. She leaned over the bed and almost vomited in an instant, commandeering a rush of doctors to hurry to her aid in a frenzied chorus of attempts to calm her. In place of her once strong, track loving legs were two bandaged stumps severed just below the knee.
Dr. Ishida looked on to the heaving girl with grave, sunken eyes, reaching out to gently place a gloved hand on her quivering shoulder. “We tried all we could to save them, but we had to amputate your legs in the end due to the severity of their injuries. And…I don’t know how to tell you this, but…”
There was a tense pause and then a piece of information that froze her blood cold.
“…You were the only survivor.”
