The cafe meant people, her first real contact with anyone since she'd awoken from her amnesia and been allowed to explore the campus. They weren't letting her into class yet, but she liked the prospect of working a cool cafe, plus she could earn a little money to buy all the awesome little trinkets from the school store or even in the city. She was still confined to her wheelchair, though she could walk, she wasn't very efficient at it yet and rolling into the cafe meant she'd catch a few curious gazes from nearly every single pair of eyes in the immediate area. She gathered her courage and gave her best friendy smile and waved. Most girls either waved back or smiled and returned to what they were doing, some even looked to their friends and began whispering. She was sure there was some kind of rumor about her "The amniesia girl" they were keeping locked up in the Spica dorms was finally out of her cage. She hoped the thoughts weren't that nasty. She wasn't dressed up for Spica, black skinny jeans and gothic boots paired with a black cardigan and a band-tee didn't look too "Spica." Still, the sights and smells of the cafe were wonderful, and she was sure the job here would be nothing like it was back in the past, her other reality. Surely here it was clean and fun and not like work at all.
Today wasn't an interview, besides, at the moment she wasn't in any shape to work at a cafe, she could hardly stand let alone wait tables -even if it was in an adorable cafe uniform. For now, she rolled to am empty table and pulled the chair aside to make room for her wheelchair and picked up the menu card. So many sweet dishes, you'd think Astraea Hill had an on-site dentist. Anyway, a girl came up, eying her curiously. Miyoshi realized she must look a little undernourished. Well, that happened when you were unconcious for three years. Still she offered her best smile and ordered a pumpkin spice latte and a pit of spice cake. It was fall, why not kick it off with her favorite treats?
When her food was brought, she felt herself pull in a little, eating alone always made her feel a little sad, she peeked out of the corner of her eye, hoping someone might offer to sit with her. People didn't do that where she came from, no one was that nice or trusting or friendly but maybe here things were different.

It had been a while since the author had decided to use Naomi, so she was probably going to be somewhere between her rehab days and her maiden days, but the author was determined to make this work-- And that's why Naomi was present today, relaxing with a bottle of cream soda, a personal favorite of hers, and a candy cigarette. Old habits died hard, even after rehab, so she found alternatives to them so she never felt tempted. It was a bit of a childish display, especially while she was in her Spica uniform- such a dignified uniform and such a punkish atmosphere. It was pretty normal for her, actually. So, why is she here? Probably just ordered something herself. I don't actually know, I'll figure that out as we go on.
There was a moment when she caught glimpse of a girl at a table, alone. She seemed to be having some difficulty adjusting her seating arrangement. Not too much, but enough that it caught her eye- and likely the eyes of others. People in wheel chairs have the unfortunate but absolute ability to draw attention to themselves without trying. This girl was no different. Still, would it be rude to offer her help in moving the seating around? Would it be wrong to offer a hand? Would she think it an insult to her ability? It was a delicate situation- one that solved itself soon after the girl made her seating arrangement work. She didn't seem to be in bad spirits either, which was pretty cool. Admirable, like her cousin embracing her blindness.
Well, why not go talk to her now? She can handle herself so maybe she's up for conversation. Besides, it was a new face - not from the shrine or her classes or her family. Or her previous letcherous activities. Maybe this could be fun. Without delay, she took her soda bottle and made her way to the table. Before sitting down, she took the candy cigarette in her hands as if it were a real one so she could speak.
"Hey there." She began. "You new here?"

At last, someone appeared before her with a delicious looking soda and some pretty blue hair. She was excited and nervous all at once to have someone talking to her.
"Ah, hi! Er.. well, sort of," she said, trying not to come off as weird, "I guess you could say that," she wanted to open up and tell her whole story, but telling someone you just came out of a coma wasn't exactly a normal conversation starter, she hesitated, but decided to just go for it, "I've been in a coma, I just woke up a few weeks ago."
She took a sip of her latte, the warm pumpkin taste filling her from the inside out, it felt good, tasted sweet. This place was wonderful. "My name's Miyoshi, what's yours? -That is if you don't mind talking to the freaky amnesiac coma girl."
She wiggled her fingers jokingly, trying to diffuse her inner tension. Perhaps she was too eager to make a friend, she didn't want to scare the girl away, but was eager for conversation and friendship. She was a brand new person now after all, the possibilities were endless now that she was here, safe, in this beautiful place surrounded by there beautiful people.
"I'd like it if you'd join me, I don't know much about Spica. What do you know about working here? I'd be interested in a waitress job." A small bite of cake was a small bite of heaven, she couldn't help the "mmmn" that came from her as she chewed. "First sweet since my coma, can you blame me? This is soooo good! Want some?"

So many things to discuss all at once. But, she was invited to sit, so she did so. The candy cigarette found it's way back to her lips, distinctly devoid of any sort of makeup. As was the rest of her face. It took her no extension of time to find a comfortable way to sit, her legs crossed and leaning back in her chair slightly. A coma huh? She and Kendall would be friends. Amnesiac though? Well, that wouldn't be terribly surprising. Weirder things have happened to comatose patients.
"Not bothered at all. I imagine you're just getting your bearings again." She said, deciding to lean forward instead, dangling her hand a lazily as she used them to rest her chin. "Afraid I don't know much about working here, doll. I spend a majority of my time off famous at the shrine or with the archery team." A team she had neglected in favor of sneaking off to watch concerts of the Two Faced Wolves, no doubt.wait, did this girl just bring up food? "No thanks, I'm meeting someone tonight for dinner. Thank you though."
Not a very detailed response, was it? It was hard to gauge what was and was not appropriate content to discuss. She imagined that the coma caused muscle atrophy and was the reason the girl was in a wheel chair. She also had the impression that the girl was so open about her issues for a reason- perhaps a cry for help? Or maybe just a warning? It was hard to say. Still, being able to read people wasn't her specialty but she wasn't bad at it either. She could guess a few things. Like the fact that this girl was awfully cheery for someone who was so open about her recent medical trouble - a fact that tickles her judgment of the girl's outer sincerity. But, she wasn't here to judge.
"Naomi Amaterasu. Pleased to meet you."

So she sat, leaning away and then forward and Miyoshi suddenly became conscious of herself, how she was acting, talking, her tone, her accent, the words she was saying, the expression on her face. Was she doing it wrong? "It" being how to act like a likable young girl. Luckily Naomi seemed relaxed enough, even called her doll, which made Miyo blush a little, but she tried to play it off like she was used to being called things like that. She also had to make a conscious effort not to take it as a flirt, this girl seemed the type to just call anyone that, it was nothing special directed at her for being cute or anything.
"So there's archery," she said, skipping the rejection of the cake, and taking another bite, "that's really cool, I think I tired archery when I was younger." she paused to change subjects once more, "You're right, this is really my first time out since I woke. If my nurse had it her way though, I'd still be in bed. I have physical therapy every day, but there's nothing like actually getting the chance to explore and meet people."
She examined the tiny dessert fork, it was so fancy compared to what she was used to and she put it down for a chance to sit back with her mug. The latte was just a divine, today was starting out really good.

"Life is too short to sit around waiting for the end." She sat back, deciding that was more comfortable again. She took the fake cigarette to her lips and pondered for a minute on that. Total silence for just under a minute. What sort of things had she done that followed that? Too many, really. And now she was repenting as much as she could. Maybe this girl was going through some kind of punishment too? Perhaps her comatose situation was a divine punishment? Nah... That would be over zealous fanaticism.
"Archery is fun, but I tend to slip away every so often. Honestly I'm not the most uh, spirited girl here." She checked her phone quickly. "Sorry, waiting on a call."
That was rude, Naomi.
"Sooo... Tell me doll, why're you playing rebel today and hanging out here instead of doing the therapy? Nerves? Laziness? Something else?" She questioned, probably inappropriately, but whatever. She was off work so she didn't have to be a good little sock puppet anymore. In all honesty the shrine had served it's purpose, and she had a new support system that enabled her to be more herself but not harm herself. Her darling Ryoko. But this girl, what kind of support system did she have? She was here alone, nobody according to her wanted her to be here being normal, and such. Was her support system suffocating? Or was she just a renegade?
"You can tell me, I'm a decent source of info. Everyone's got a little rebel in them right?"

There it was again, 'doll' Miyo tried to pretend not to notice the pet name again and proceeded to be pleased with the girl's questioning.
"Well, my nurse is really nice, so she pulled some strings to let me out of my box. It's more like...I don't know I was just tired of looking at my room. Therapy or not, three years in the same room is too much, even if I was unconscious for most of it, I needed air, to wear clothes other than a nightgown, to see people other than her and the sisters. You know? Just get out and see what there is to see."
Not to mention there was no family to notify, no friends to tell about her awakening, it was just her, suddenly awake and suddenly alone. Beyond that were the nightmares, like distant memories of a life that wasn't hers anymore, she didn't like sleeping or "resting" anymore, not when those nightmares were one 'decent night's sleep' away. But that was too much to go into here in a chance meeting with a cute bluenette.
"Decent info hm?" she joked, thinking of how she didn't know about cafe job getting, "It's never too late for me to get some therapy in, know anywhere a girl can stumble around like a toddler and not make a spectacle of herself? You can come watch, if you promise not to laugh too hard." She realized letting someone watch was indeed making her a spectacle, but she meant not a spectacle for a lot of people. She hope the girl caught her meaning.
She wanted to try her legs at walking without a nurse-mother urging her like some kind of child, and stopping her before she felt she could really try for fear of 'overdoing it'. "Plus to be honest," she added, blushing a little, "I really want to make some friends...makes the world seem more...real. Being in that room makes me feel like I'm not really awake." She bit her lip and paused. Right. So now what? She forced a smile and returned the topic back to her question, "Anyway, got any idea where I should go?"

Makes sense, after all rehab was scary and lonely too, and she was awake for that. Imagine waking up and seeing the world just left you behind. Scary stuff. Still, she wasn't above playing with this girl a bit since she was having fun with the conversation.
"There's always out behind the horse track. But that's sort of become one of the 'make-out point' spots around here. Like the library." So, where was free for that? Probably nobody in the greenhouse today, but then again she's seen some stupid stuff that way too. Like a fraudulent murder. Maybe not the best place. Hmm... "Well, what about aquarium?" She shrugged. "Not many people there middle of the day. Too many classes and all that. I think the only people who han out there this time of day are teachers in their off time." She had a moment where she thought that maybe her cousin was there. But nah, she was too disassociated with campus these days for that.
"Friends are fun, just don't make the wrong ones." She pulled back the collar of her shirt, exposing not only her bra strap but a small, circular scar. "Cigarette burns. Junpei didn't like that I wouldn't help him destroy some blow." And as casually as she said that, she returned to her previous position. "There's some scary people out there. You sure you're ready to trust them?"

Scary, right, like the impression Miyo was suddenly getting from the bluenette. But the warning that made Miyo feel wary of her companion also made her feel safe, it was an odd feeling. The burns freaked her out, but in immediate contrast, the girl's lack of modesty pulled at Miyo's feelings of attraction. She looked away, once again turning a little red, talk of make out points and hooligans and worse, drugs, it kind of made Miyoshi want to go back to her room after all. But only kind of, it was a quick decision to answer,
"Who says I'll only trust scary ones? I could trust you right?" Though trusting Naomi was trusting a scary person wasn't it? Miyo couldn't help smiling at the irony, sporting a confidently raised eyebrow. "There's no one to burn us here, or at the Aquarium....unless you have something scandalous in mind." She was trying to joke to break her own tension. Should she be honest and say what she was feeling, or just go with it? To be honest the advice made her happy and she kind of felt like she was in the presence of someone who had been around the block a few times and got to start over, only she remembered where she'd been. Miyo didn't, she was just starting over with a blank slate...or more like...a page full of pencil marks that had been erased, you can't read it, but you can tell something was written there through the impressions in the paper.
She took another tremendous bite of cake and finished off her latte and wheeled herself back from the table,
"So, oh ominous one, shall we go?" she had no idea where the Aquarium was anyway, so implying that Naomi go with her had an ulterior motive, plus this was kind of fun. Her first acquaintance was a been-there bad girl, interesting and intriguing, she might have more in common with her than she thought...or maybe she didn't? At the same time she hoped her teasing didn't insult the girl, after all they had only just met and she wasn't sure if such a thing was appropriate.

Looks like her point got across. Good, a little skepticism was healthy.
"Trust me? Sure, I'm not with that crowd anymore." She finished her candy cigarette and tilted her head with a wink. "As for scandalous, that's only by request doll."
But, more to the point, she decided to embrace this girl's confidence. It was fun. She didn't meet many people with disability but every time she had, it had been really wonderful an experience. This girl was no different and, she was a self proclaimed amnesiac. A blank slate. Someone she could teach about the dangers of the world without steering too close to them. This could be her redemption. She could educate this girl with her personal knowledge of the world, and keep her on the right path.whatever happened after this she had to show her new friend some terror, but make it manageable. She would need to scare her away from the renegade life.
"Aquarium then? Alright then. Toward Miator we go." She stood and bowed in a sort of sarcastic way, her top button now glaringly obviously open on purpose. Old habits die hard. The bow was very much intentional. "Right this way."
