Yumiko's eyes narrowed. Was she being taken as a fool? Someone to laugh at? Was it perhaps a misunderstanding? Or was Sando-san really interested in the true ways of nature. She seemed genuine enough and Yumiko turned her head to the side so her eyes peeked out from their curtain of hair. "Magic of nature, from the earth and elements, Deity's of the world. Real magick that makes luck grace us and curses the foolish." The words sounded odd from the young Spican's lips. They had once been her mothers words, spoken one night as candles were lit and a chant sung.
"I have some experience, if your talking about the same thing," She said quietly. It was not something she particularly flaunted in the catholic school. She had no wish to be chucked out over a religious debate. However she would also not be surprised if the president was truley interested in such things. Yumiko fished out a crystal from a necklace that hung under her top. It was Amethyst and it held a lot of value for Yumiko. "Is there something specific you wish to know?" she asked hiding once again under her hair.

For a brief moment, the curtain parted and Shun caught a glimpse of the girl's eyes. Her words were strange, but this only further aroused her curiosity. "I believe we are speaking of the same thing." she said. As avid a reader of science as she was, Shun had always been interested in other areas of study that some might call fringe. If those people were being kind.
"Ah, now that is a good question." Shun said. Where to begin? Shun had plenty of questions. She was tempted to ask for a demonstration, but that seemed to be a rather rude thing to request. As much as Shun liked to perform, she had to take into consideration that others might not be so willing. And she, herself, would only perform if she had time to prepare.
"Perhaps we should start with the basics." Shun decided, "What are the applications of this magick? How do you make use of them?"
The intent behind her words clear. She was eager to learn all that she could from the Spica girl.

The applications? Uses? It sounded a bit clinical but Yumiko understood the questions. "It can be for anything, increasing luck, healing, curses even. It depends on what you wish to accomplish by it." It was a poor explanation but words had never been Yumiko's strong point. IF only she could show her the wonders of the magickal world. However there wasn't much to see, you could only feel it, it was hard to show it as such.
"I can... do some maybe... palm reading or something?" She said quietly. Fortune telling was a showy affair and not something Yumiko was fond of, but to prove a point it might be the only way. She wasn't going to drag the girl into rituals just like that after all. If only her mother was there to explain it, she could have done it so much better.
Sando-San had shown nothing but kind interest so far so Yumiko felt like perhaps she comply. There was no threat involved. "Or I might use a charm to help my accuracy in shooting or archery." She added as an afterthought, remembering just earlier in the day when she had scored ten bullseyes in a row.

The answers were vague. And perhaps she been a bit to broad in what she wanted to know. It was still valuable information, even if it was a bit on the scanty side. In her experience with researching stage magic, she had come across a number of different ways to tell fortunes. Most involved some form of trickery, or manipulation. Well, all of them did, if she was being perfectly honest. But, she had to keep in mind that she was following in a business that was built on deception.
And thus far, Yumiko had proven to be nothing but open about her belief in magic. Real magic. Shun would not be hasty to write her off. And the best way to learn more would be through observation. Perhaps some day, she could learn even more. In the meantime, Shun gave a smile and a nod of her head.
"It would be a great honor." she said, "For now, we shall try palm reading. Although, I would like an opportunity to see your archery practice. On a later date. I would not wish to impose any further on you, than I already have."
A good luck charm that helped her skills? It was a very interesting idea and one that could prove to be very illuminating.

With a little cough she gingerly took Sando's palm and held it, looked at it. It has always been a little bit of fun for her, like a recurring story she would ask her mother to read it again and again even if the fortune never changed. The least useful divination technique but the easiest as well. She looked at the lines ingrained on the hand, Love, Life, Luck and Fate. The Love was quite shallow but crossed the Life one, and the Luck was well curved. Her Fate was also complete. A good fortune for Shun Sando!
"Well your very lucky and your likable..." She started tracing the Luck line. That one had always been her favorite, it was simplistic to understand. The more curved it was the luckier it was. "And able to keep many friends although.. you might not have as many... deep friendships as acquaintances." She continued feeling shy, incase Shun-san accidentally took it as an insult. "Your life will be strong and make an impact on people or the world... or maybe not on the world but A person or people or um.... something like that," She finished, trailing off abit, worried she may have caused offence somewhere in there.
It was a pretty poor display of magick ability, but Yumiko was still rather shy and she didn't know how to make more of an impression. However she had just had an idea. "If you still have that pen Sando-san, I can show you a magick circle?... I-If you'd like that is?" She asked, almost instantly regretting her decision. Was this really right to show secrets of her family? Then again a basic circle was hardly going to hurt. Still she was anxious.

Shun allowed the Spican girl to take her hand and trace the lines in her palm. It did seem to be a rather intimate form of divination. Not that she was one to complain about such things. The magician held an easy smile as Yumiko described what she saw. All of that she was able to devise from a few lines in a palm. When it was done, Shun took a closer look at her own hand, before glancing over to the shy girl.
"A very insightful reading." she said, "I do have to maintain a certain air of mystery. With any luck, this succeeds in brightening a few days, around here."
She smiled, not finding it to be a poor display at all. And if she had heard such an evaluation, Shun would not hesitate to voice her opinions to the contrary. But, the opportunity to witness a magick circle? This was an opportunity too good to pass up. So, she produced her pen. Ever a servant to her sense of showmanship, the pen was seemingly procured from nowhere. She presented it to Yumiko with a slight bow of her head.
"It would be quite an honor, Mori-san." she said.

Insightful? So she had manages to get it right and not insult anyone! The Le Rim president even looked impressed at it all. One point to Yumiko! She smiled a bit and took the pen that was produced from no-where. Ever the performer, Yumiko thought, but scolded herself, Shun had been nothing but kind to her. "Well um," Yumiko awkwardly bowed back and she brought up her own left hand and drew a circle and a five pointed star star in it.
"It represents the unity of the five elements and helps you to work with them, this is just a simple circle," She said putting the lid back on the pen so she could now use it to point. "Air, Earth, Fire, Water and Spirit," She wasn't explaining it that well but she was trying and Shun still looked interested. "If I write Luck Kanji in here the center, I'll be lucky," She added drawing it on and then handing the pen back. With a little cough she presented her hand to the brunette with a little bow, "I Pray to the earth that Sando-sama be lucky," She murmured with her eyes closed. She felt warmth spread through her, and so it must have worked.
Magick wasn't like in books, it wasn't showy or something you could see. A luck spell might mean you get the questions on your quiz you revised, or a binding spell might mean someone texts you out of the blue. It could all be placebo, but Yumiko believed in it, So it was real to her. If Sando did to, it would be real for her to.

The circle proved to be just as interesting as the palm reading. Shun observed as Yumiko drew on her own palm and pointed out the significance of each of the five points to the star. She had seen that symbol before in a few books. When the school library proved too light on a subject, she often went in search in the shops in town, or online.
From her own research, she had found it to be a mostly western symbol. Which was why she found it rather interesting that this circle also incorporated kanji. Perhaps she had overlooked something. Or, perhaps, this was a unique practice that Yumiko had learned on her own. Either way, it proved to be well worth the effort Shun had taken to pull Yumiko aside for this little chat.
After the incantation, there were no obvious signs that something had happened. This was not to Shun's surprise. In popular entertainment, magic was often made into something that was far more of a spectacle. Of course, that was for an entirely different purpose than what motivated Yumiko.
"Thank you, Mori-san." she said, "I appreciate the blessing." she wondered what form this luck might come in. Perhaps it was something that she would not notice immediately. Or at all. This would be very tricky to quantify, but perhaps that was the point.
