Name: Kazuko ‘Zuko’ Sakuragi (Lemon Drop)
School Attending: Lulim/ Le Rim
Age/ Year in School: 14/Third Year
~ Appearance ~
Face Claim: Kasuka Heiwajima (Durarara)
Hair Color: Dark brown
Hairstyle: Shaggy, choppy, and shoulder length, often falling into her eyes due to her stubborn refusal to clip it back
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5’5
What kind of clothes does your character wear when she's not in uniform?
Most of Zuko’s wardrobe is made of ripped skinny jeans, band t-shirts, and converse high-tops in various colors (most notably her favorite neon green pair). Most of her clothing is either black, white, green, or a combination of the three. If it’s dark, it can probably be found in her closet. She can’t stand anything that restricts her movement, which explains her intense resentment toward the school uniform. She has several piercings (including her tongue, navel, lip, and three in each ear), three tattoos, and a multitude of scars. Because of her insomnia, she often has dark rings around her eyes (which she uses heavy makeup to conceal).
What Clubs is your character involved in?
Arts and Crafts: Yes
Manga/Anime Club: Yes
The Astraea Host Club (Rose Garden) : Yes
Is your character on the Student Council? No.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Zuko is eccentric, immature, and extremely mischievous, which puts her at odds with those around her at times. She lives mostly for self-gratification, which she sometimes achieves through selfish acts of lying or cheating; but consequentially, she has a bad habit of getting herself and other people in trouble. She becomes frustrated, frightened, confused or sad all too easily, but simultaneously has extreme difficulty expressing her emotions (with the exception of anger; she’s rather good at showing that), making her behavior very unpredictable. She is also very impulsive, impatient and immature at times, which often leads to others treating her like a child (which only serves to further irritate her). Zuko has a firm belief that being treated like a child gives her the right to act like one, though she is perfectly capable of being serious and mature. Deep inside, she really is wise beyond her years; she’s simply too stubborn to prove everyone around her wrong. She’s a true tsundere at heart. Despite her seemingly selfish personality, Zuko does genuinely care about her friends. When it comes down to it, she would give her life for a friend in a heartbeat. Though she has a difficult time showing people that she cares (often resorting to comedic insults and offhand comments to show gratitude and kindness), she truly does care. She has proven on multiple occasions to be able to understand her loved ones' inner workings, sensing when even the slightest of things is wrong with any of them. She is extremely intuitive, always willing to listen, and has been said to give good advice when asked to do so. Like her late older brother, she has a strong sense of justice and comradery. She has no tolerance for bullies (despite sometimes acting like one herself) and will do whatever she has to in order to resolve confrontation. Zuko also has no problem fighting if necessary, so bullies beware. It would be wise to note that she’s a trained martial artist and a weapons enthusiast. To add to her already (somewhat) confusing personality, Zuko also has an intense fear of thunderstorms and the dark...to the point where she goes into a state of panic and anxiety and essentially reverts into a child.
What does your character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
The idea of being in love and showcasing that love to the entire school is just so romantic… She finds the whole thing rather alluring, honestly. But trying to get her to admit that is like pulling teeth.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
“Tch… As if I’d ever be caught dead doing something so lame.” *blushing heavily as she desperately attempts to conceal her desire to participate*
What does your character think of Kagami Hiruko and Maiko Suzumi, the current etoiles?
Zuko is a total sucker for shy girls, so Kagami is definitely her type. She’d never admit it, but she has a bit of a soft spot for her (despite never having formally met her). And Maiko… Well, she likes her hair. And she’s a bit jealous of her for having caught the eye of a girl like Kagami. But that’s about it.
What does your character think of the other schools?
Despite enjoying the free-spirited atmosphere of Lulim, Zuko wishes she had been sent to Spica instead. She loves sports and the like, and the uniforms are less...pink. She doesn’t care much for Miator, though. Too strict for her taste.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Lulim.
Zuko spent the majority of her childhood living in her brothers’ shadows. As the fourth born child of a family with three (very successful) sons (ages 21, 19, and 18), it was always rather difficult for her to get her parents’ attention. Eldest son Akira was accepted into a very prestigious university. Second eldest Ichigo was a talented soccer player. And the youngest son, Atsuki (like his sister) was an aspiring musician who had recently joined the military like his father. Their parents were incredibly supportive of their boys...so much so that, for the most part, there was little support left for Zuko. And when the twins came along, the neglect only grew worse. Everything she did was always wrong in their eyes. It was always “Why can’t you be more like -insert brother’s name here-? He’s done -insert one of many achievements here- and you can’t even do -insert action here- right!” The same old song and dance no matter what she did. She tried to be a good student like Akira, but her grades never seemed to be high enough. She tried to be sporty like Ichigo, but her various health problems (severe Crohn’s Disease, mild asthma, and various joint problems) prevented her from getting very far. She tried following her musical dreams like Atsuki, but her parents never supported her like they did him. For years, Zuko tried her hardest to please her parents. But after a while, she decided that her journey to gain acceptance and love was a pointless one. And so, she started anew. At the age of thirteen, she became extremely withdrawn, refusing to interact with anyone but Atsuki and the twins (Sora and Jun), the only people in the house that actually cared for her. Atsuki became her main caretaker, making sure she took her medication for her Crohn’s, caring for her when she fell ill, and providing general emotional support. When Atsuki was shipped off to fight in a foreign country’s war, she became even more withdrawn. The deep connection she had with him was her only real solace in the world...which is why the news of his death hit her the hardest. For days, she wouldn’t leave her room, refusing to eat and barely sleeping. She just couldn’t grasp the fact that he was really gone. She began wearing his favorite forest green hoodie everywhere, even sleeping in it at times. His dog tags never left their place around her neck. Finally, when her parents could take no more of her sulking, they shipped her off to boarding school.

"Man, that hurts..." A disgruntled voice muttered resentfully, as its owner delicately touched her fingertips to her right eye. She cringed as they felt the familiar sting beneath them, a sensation accompanied by a ring of purple. A very painful bruise, courtesy of her dear ‘friend’ Ryo. Zuko had decided to go for a walk earlier that morning (hoping the fresh air would ease her symptoms after another Crohn’s episode), and had been interrupted by a very ticked off classmate who was upset after being publicly humiliated by Zuko for bullying a first year. The two had come to blows, and after Ryo had run off like a wounded alley cat, Zuko had been left with a few bruises, a black eye, and (much to her chagrin) a bad reputation. The brown haired prince sighed in irritation, running a hand through her messy hair as she tried to avoid the looks she was getting.
Zuko was used to being stared at. She was, after all, a girl who looked, talked, and acted like a boy. That was bound to bring on at least a few confused stares. Still, she never really liked being in the spotlight. Even when confronting bullies, she would still feel her stomach doing backflips from the sheer nervousness. But as far as she was concerned, that was all part of the job. She had to be tough. She had to be strong. She had to be intimidating. She had to be like… “Atsuki…” Even now, it was nearly impossible to say his name. Throughout her life, he had been her rock. Her protector. Her caretaker. Now, he was gone. And this was her way of repaying her debt to him. “I’ll show you… I can do it… I can take care of everyone… I can be strong too, onii-san…”
