Name: Ubu Miyase (Ai Ichigo)
School Attending: Miator
Age/ Year in School:
~ Appearance ~
Proposing an idea to a class?
Hair Color: The coloration is silver by default, though it can range from looking more matte to fully metallic depending on the lighting.
Hairstyle: Just beyond chin length, but kind of uneven since she most often cuts it herself and likes to try out new things at the same time. As a result it looks unkempt almost all the time and the back is a little bit shorter than the front. She always lets it hang loose, and it's typical for her long bangs to be brushed to one side which covers an eye from view.
Eye Color: Somewhere between hazel and amber by most accounts; in other words a shade of light brown that's uncertain if it's more green or orange-influenced.
Height: 4'9"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform? Most of Ubu's wardrobe that isn't school related is fairly low-key and conservative compared to what other girls her age generally prefer. A good amount of it consists of solid colored skirts, lacy knit tops or blouses and flat soled shoes. Possibly due to her skin being fairly pale, in tone any skirt she wears will be accompanied by tights or stockings, though she honestly couldn't tell you why she feels compelled to do so. Lately she's used the allowance/stipend sent from her family to buy sweatpants and t-shirts, which she sometimes wears around her dorm room or when left to her own devices. Ubu also has an affinity for hats and has started a little collection of them, though most commonly she can be seen wearing a white beret that she keeps feeling is important but again without a reason as to why.
What kinds of activities is your character involved in? None as of yet, not that she can remember. Though she does have some sheet music and an acoustic guitar in her dorm, as well as a feeling that she knows how to play it.
Is your character on the Student Council? - Not right now, though she'd join if invited.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more: Ubu is naturally curious about the world around her and eager to learn more about it every day. She has few inhibitions about exploring things in an amount of detail that other girls might think is peculiar. In fact she doesn't have many inhibitions about most things, though this can manifest as a lack of tact. It's just that when she gets really interested in something she feels a strong urge to learn as much as she can about the subject. Full of questions would nearly always be a good way to describe her.
It stems largely from an incident which she can't really remember, which resulted in her losing swaths of her memory. She's very sensistive about the subject and tries to pretend like she remembers things more than she does. At the same time she believes that if she asks enough questions, digs in enough places she might trigger some of those memories. Aside from her memory problems she's got plenty of energy to fuel her explorations, even if those are just explorations into books. Typically she will be friendly to most people so long as they don't mind her being a bit touchy-feely. In order to make a good connection with someone she feels it necessary to hug them or at least put a hand on their shoulder from time to time.
Her outlook on life is pretty optimistic for someone in her condition. To her if you really want to do something you can always find a way to do it, as long as you're willing to take a road much less traveled when necessary. Ubu has a strong imagination and creative side, which feeds into this outlook well, allowing her to think up solutions that can solve really tough problems. It also has the downside of leading her to overthink things, as well as assuming things about people that aren't true just because it sounds reasonable to her. Behind her optimism, creativity and friendliness Ubu is afraid that she's forgotten something really important like close friends or that she might even forget more things. This is another driving force behind her curious nature.
What does your character think of the Etoile position as a whole? It's a really interesting concept that she's kind of fascinated by, so naturally she's done a deal of reading about it. She can recall the names of numerous Etoile pairs from the past, but has yet to find out how the competition actually got started. Still it provides a good example to the girls who go to school on Astraea Hill, though she's concerned that it could actually be something that causes bad things to happens to the winners. At least if the rumors about a curse are right. The romantic side of it is nice too, but she wonders more if there's a way to stop that curse so winners can be assured of being happy. Overall she thinks it's a good thing that has its mysteries.
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday? While she hasn't given it much thought, Ubu would certainly be willing to give it a go if she met someone to run with. It would definitely be a fun adventure! She would just try her best to stop the curse along the way, so that she and her partner could happily be an inspiration for everyone.
What does your character think of ________ and ______, the current etoiles? (Not sure if this section is required since the election is going on right now, but I can write something if so.)
What does your character think of the other schools? Mostly that they don't have as good of a library as Miator does, but that's not really the other girls' faults. Rivalries don't enter into it as much though she envies Lulim girls at times for the kind of freedom they seem to have compared to Miator. Yet at the same time she loves Miator's tradition and history and will defend it in an argument to her last breath.
~History~
Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Miator:
History before Astraea Hill: Ubu's experiences before coming to Astraea Hill are a bit of a mystery to her on account of her not remembering some important details. While she recognizes a pair of adults who claim to be her parents as being very familiar, she isn't sure if they are who they claim. They seem to have her best interests at heart and genuinely seem to care about her well being so she accepts it. Things that she's learned in school remain clear in her mind, it's just some personal details that are missing. Those include what sorts of hobbies she had, many details about her personal life, who her friends were and even family vacations. All of this stems from an incident she repressed so deeply that what little she remembers gives her nightmares about darkness as well as fire.
This isn't to say that she doesn't have ideas about who she was before that trauma occurred. Occasionally snippets come to her in dreams or just suddenly in the middle of a thought, or by seeing something familiar enough to bring it about. What she does know for certain beyond the nightmares is that it left a bit of scarring near her right eye, which is why she keeps her hair brushed over it. At times she misinterprets them and then hangs on to that misinterpretation. This is exemplified by her recalling a fondness for elephants, spending times in the mountains, a home by the sea and a distaste for the French language (actually just lessons, but she doesn't recall that detail) as a connection to history that she had read about not long before that. Combined with some things she'd read on the side, she became convinced she had lived another life in the past. That said she does occasionally get things right, like recalling the name of her beloved pet dog. Since she remembers things like that, she's working hard to try and trigger other memories. All while attending school at the same time.
Sample Post: It was all starting to become a little more clear to her now. At first it had all been a jumble of random scenes flashing before her eyes, but now she thought she'd gotten some of it down. The time-worn plush elephant she felt a deep connection to, as if it had been her best friend in the whole world. Various moments of ascended through the chill of morning up a steep mountain towards an important goal she didn't recall. A beautiful home with a view of the ocean where her dear father had raised her. A bad taste in her mouth anytime she had to speak in French for her class at school. All of this pointed to one thing and thanks to her ingenuity and the stack of a half-dozen books on her desk, she'd identified the source of all the recollections.
There had been someone who had lived by the sea, had a strong relationship to their father, been close to elephants, climbed mountains and disliked French in history. Well, okay, not French but the language it came from. Or at least the people who spoke it. That was all the result of her reasoning that the things were connected strongly, though they hadn't felt as if they happened to her personally. Not recently. Thankfully another book had explained how some people felt strongly that they had lived other lives in the past before being born as a new person. An exciting concept, and it did help explain why the snippets felt so connected.
That solved, she smiled and directed her attention to the list she'd compiled for her next adventure. After glancing to that plush elephant, she read the list's title aloud to test it out, "How to sneak over to Spica's dorms without the Sisters noticing."
Yes, it was a nice working title.
