Name: Hiroko Takashina **Ai Ichigo**
School Attending: Lulim/ Le Rim
Age/ Year in School:
~ Appearance ~ At school and nervous, On the weekend and embarrassed
Hair Color: A good way to describe Hiroko's hair color would be a thoroughly medium blue tone. Not sky blue, green or purple tinted or any of that. Just a solid blue color that's the tiniest bit on the darker side. It can look more of a blue-black in poor lighting but there's really no mistaking it for anything else otherwise.
Hairstyle: Nearly waist legnth and inevitably allowed to hang straight because of how feminine it looks (Hiroko prizes such things). Also due to an ineptitude with anything more complicated than simply shoving it up under a hat or brushing it out. Even her attempts at ponytails can look pretty weird. Though embarrassed by that fact she makes due with said brushing out of her elongated locks and keeping them held back with a white satin lined headband.
Eye Color: A lighter color of blue than her hair, kind of a sky blue with a bit of greenish tone to them.
Height: 5'4"
What kind of clothes does you character wear when she's not in uniform?
Both at school and in her free time Hiroko prioritizes feminimity, and this shows in her choices in personal wardrobe. A lot of pink and soft tones dominate her clothing, as do things with frills, lace and an overall girly look to them. Though she doesen't mind wearing slightly shorter skirts she will always wear leggings, tights or stockings with them out of modesty. She has a pendant that looks kind of junky but she's always wearing it out of uniform and sometimes even in uniform. Those who are more fashion inclined will notice that her clothing is usually just a little behind current trends. Mostly since she gets a lot of her clothes as hand-me-downs from cousins and her mom.
What Clubs is you character involved in?
Arts and Crafts: Yes (though her attendance is sporadic)
Book Club: Yes
The Astraea Host Club (Rose Garden): Yes
Is your character on the Student Council? - No
If yes, what does your character think of the student council president, Naomi Shizuoka?
Shizuoka-san isn't someone who Hiroko's met so she tires really hard not to rush to judgments about her. That would be pretty mean after all. On the other hand she does hear stories about the president being a flirt. Which makes Hiroko's basic interpretation of her as being kind of a boyish flirt. Which is the sort of thought liable to make her blush and get really quiet.
Please explain your character's personality in 200 words or more:
Hiroko is a kind of rough spot. She's eager to make some friends at school, especially if they have shared interests. So far doing so with other girls hasn't been easy, thanks to her inherent apprehension about starting a conversation. Approaching other girls to just have a chat can be a challenge equal to climbing Mt. Fuji. Solo. In the dead of winter. Without a jacket or climbing gear. This is because she's so afraid of imposing herself on other people and wasting their time. So concerned is she about being rude, interrupting something more important or just annoying other girls that to date she has only acquaintances at best.
Obviously Hiroko is lacking in the self confidence department to no fault of her upbringing. Her parents are loving, supportive and encourage Hiroko to pursue any path she wants. Unfortunately she's totally uncertain of what to do with herself given that situation. Without ways to clearly define herself outside a handful of things, she kind of gets the idea that she's not worth others' time. Or at least that initiating something is simply impossible for her.
Yet she's starting to branch out, inching her way along and occasionally retreating in the face of perceived.
danger. Books are safe and she's ended up joining the book club. Sometimes she shows up for the arts and crafts because she's kind of gotten into origami and painting. When she feels comfortable in her surroundings Hiroko still speaks softly, mostly stemming from her confidence issues. Even as a member of clubs she's lonely to the point it makes her cry at times, makes her desperate to reach out to someone, anyone and have company. But she won't say anything because that would be impolite or just flat out inconsiderate of other peoople who have better things to do than worry about one silly girl.
It's notably easy to embarrass her, too. Compliments are so unexpected by her that they always catch her off guard. When someone actually wants to keep her company she blushes, though somehow it's a sign of happiness. She can become clingy in a weirdly passive-aggressive manner when someone's been willingly doing things with her. While she will insist that it's okay for them to leave and she doesn't want to detain them from more important things, her expression will betray her desire for them to stay put. Or take her with them. Sometimes she'll even latch herself onto them somehow to try and anchor them down. Then get all embarrassed about doing so and apologizing quietly while moving away from them and finding a corner to hide in.
What does you character think of the Etoile position as a whole?
One of the singularly strongest examples of feminimity she can think of which exists on campus. It's a beautiful thing to admire from a safe distance, and lovely that any pair can run (rather than as a team for their respective school).
Does your character want to be an Etoile someday?
Beautiful from a distance but personally terrifying. If somehow she were an Etoile Hiroko would by her existence be imposing herself on the entire campus. So the idea of that ever happening is really scary to Hiroko.
What does your character think of Shizuka Myuzu and Chokone Manatsu, the current etoiles?
Chokone reminds Hiroko of herself a little and she really admires her for being brave enough to be an Etoile. Of course Chokone is worthy of all the attention she gets and the affections of her partner. Shizuka is really pretty and has a princely air that makes her so perfect for her role as Chokone's partner and as an Etoile. Also kind of scary because Hiroko wouldn't know how to handle being close to someone like her.
What does your character think of the other schools?
She has no ill will towards any of them, really. St. Miator seems like it'd be hard to fit in at since it's so prestigious and wrapped up in tradition. Their uniforms are cute though. Spica's athletics are kind of scary since trying to play any kind of sport is beyond Hiroko's abilities. She doesn't know how those girls can handle having balls thrown at/to them, sparring, riding big strong animals or anything else.
~History~ Please write in 100 words or more your character's history before she came to Lulim.
Hiroko comes from a large family though she's aware she wasn't actually born into it. Her three brothers - two older, one younger - along with her parents are all unrelated by blood. At a young age a grumpy and at the time spiteful older brother mentioned that she was adopted. Her parents confirmed the information but told her that she was a blessing on their family. She was a pretty star that made every day brighter for them. So she's never had anxiety about fitting in at home. As far as she's concerned they're her family and it's where she belongs. Though it does occasionally make her ponder who she might otherwise have been (which contributes to her self doubt).
Being lower middle class her parents couldn't afford to buy new clothes for all of their children constantly. So each time they did go clothes shopping was a different child's turn. Everyone else would get their clothing from relatives who'd outgrown them. Which was actually kind of fun since Hiroko was given a lot of choices being the only girl in her family. Surrounded by masculinity she would choose the girliest things she could find to set herself apart.
Then came the day that she was informed of her acceptance into St. Lulim. Her parents had gotten a letter from an anonymous source which informed them of Hiroko's acceptance, tuition-free. After vetting the letter it turned out to be authentic. After paying a visit with her, they decided it was best for her to attend such a highly regarded institution. They'd been concerned about her ability to relate to others and thought spending more time with other girls around her age would be good for her. And they even got her signed up for the Host Club in the hopes that it would force her to open up a little. Maybe even make some friends in the process.
First Year: Kind of minded her own business, tried to get used to being in the Host Club despite being horribly overwhelmed by it. On a couple of occasions she actually hid behind the roses in the garden after especially troubling (for her) incidents. Still she's made at least a sympathetic impression on some of its members..
Sample Post: This was probably the worst possible situation imaginable within the comparatively relaxed world of St. Lulim. Not a surprise exam on material you hadn't studied well enough or at all. Neither was it a disciplinary lecture from the campus' sternest nun on a subject of an incredibly embarrassing nature. Nor being trapped in a haunted shed that was in the middle of the scorched ex-forest over by Spica. No, this was far more terrifying than all of those things combined. So terrifying that Hiroko Takashina was frozen in place, shivering a little and afraid to move lest it get worse.
It was a peculiar sight at the Rose Garden where St. Lulim's Host Club worked to make life a little more pleasant for their Astraea Hill sisters. While other club members happily made the rounds and were pretty occupied by their labor, Hiroko just stood there. Staring. Her fellow-members had somehow convinced her to wear a maid uniform for work and this just made her more adorably nervous. She'd made it to a table where a Miator student awaited service.
That was as far as she'd made it. What did she do now? The other girl looked expectantly up at her but hadn't expressed so much as a preference of what she'd like. Of course she should greet the young lady. It wasn't that easy though. What if shey'd been having a deep and important thought when Hiroko had awkwardly shuffled up to the table? Or maybe she was waiting for some other Hostess to tend to her, someone more famous. Hiroko just stood there, gawking, holding her tray in front of her and hoping desperately that this young lady would intiate a conversation. She looked really nice but Hiroko just couldn't find the strength to do anything besides shiver and stare.
"Um.. are you okay?" the girl finally asked, lifting the barrier to communication.
"Y-yes.. I'm fine.. a little scared.. um.. how can I help you, miss?" Hiroko finally managed to speak, though in a subdued voice. This was going to be a long day..
