Cast- Arceia, Chiyo
Setting- Amaterasu Estate

Perhaps her timing was off. She didn't care. This had to be done.
Perhaps it wasn't like that. She didn't care. Now or never.
Arceia Allistair-Aeducan. Former Lulim Student Council President and former Etoile. Boy, that's a long title. And one that she wouldn't have without Chiyo. Everything seemed to be because of her lately-- No, not just lately. Ever since they'd met, her life was all about the connection they shared. Funny, almost, to think about. Just three years ago, she was a little kid, just reaching teenager status, without a single idea of what she wanted to do with her life. Now, here she is; Responsible, well-rounded Arceia, tackling unreal challenges and organizing entire student body activities herself. Quite the step from the little bookworm of years past.
And it was here, in the present, that we join her. A beautiful spring day, in the outskirts of campus. It was a usual trip to the store to anybody else, but to her, this day would change everything. Nothing in her life had ever had her so nervous and yet so ecstatic. It just had to come together, like everything else had.
The outfit was simple, yet it fit; A white blouse with short sleeves, a black skirt that seemed to be in limbo between casual and professional, some relatively plain shoes, and one piece that she hadn't worn in years- Her collar. Oh, such memories of this thing. It was her trademark for many years before her responsibilities kicked in. However, the days of responsibility were on break for now- No longer an Etoile, and not running anything this year at all, Arceia had her chance to recover from the stresses she put herself under. This was her time, and she wasn't going to let any precious moment slip by, not again. Not like she did so much in the past.
Upon arriving at the store, she was greeted by a lone woman, aged twenty-something. Very uniform, but her mannerisms were that of a casual employee, not of somebody who truly dedicated to their job. It was a bit of a setback, but the woman meant no offense- How could she know the work ethic that Arceia had placed on herself, and what she expected of others because of it? Simply put, it was misjudged effort value.
"Excuse me, I was wondering..." as she began to describe the item she wanted, the woman's eyes seemed to light up. Immediately, Arceia was brought to a special section of the store- Near the center island of it, matter of fact. There were several that appealed to her, but nothing that truly jumped out and screamed "the one" to her.
"What's the budget?" asked the employee.
Arceia dismissed money concerns with a wave of her hand. She knew exactly what she was doing, and such a factor was well planned for. To put it simply, Chiyo wasn't the only one with a job off campus. It had been only recently, but Arceia had begun to assist her cousin Sam with her trials as a paperwork specialist- basically meaning that she got a cut of every case that was won. And knowing Sam's tenacity, that was pretty often. However, this ordinarily would not have meant much- Except that Arceia and Sam lived together in a very tiny apartment and rent was only ten percent of the money spent there. They had it all figured out, the clever girls- A small apartment with high paying jobs equaled getting almost anything they wanted, within the limits of the space the apartment offered. Thankfully, this item took up relatively no space.
"What about that one?" asked the employee.
A nice choice for sure. Well manageable, but not too overbearing. Petite without being unseen. It just needed one last thing.
"I like it. But there's one other thing I'm looking for..."
And so, when that item was not something she could obtain at this store, the employee redirected her to another one. Arceia paid for the item in question and began making her way to this new store- Somewhere in a part of town she knew very little about. However, she had to pass the Amaterasu estate- The home of her cousin's family- so a quick stop in wouldn't hurt.
A fountain decorated the front yard, with a very wide iron gate. The estate itself was no slouch either- Beautiful build, and it was fairly old too. It was somewhere she could never imagine owning. However, maybe Naomi's parents were home. After all, despite how much I ramble about them, we've never met them.
It took only a moment for the family maid, Miss Ayano, to answer the buzzer.
"Who is it?"
"Aeducan."
That's all she had to say. Ayano was at the gate, opening it from the other side in no time.
"Arceia! It's been far too long. Please come in!"
"Is anyone home miss?"
"Oh! Um, I believe sir Ike is home. Besides myself and he, I am not sure. It's pretty easy to lose people in here." she said this almost happily. One couldn't blame her though; Working and living here, some people were bound to not get along.
"Perfect. May I see him? You should come, too."
And so, they were off. Up two flights of stairs, past the library, down another flight into Ike's private study. It was a nice room- Little fireplace, nice mahogany desk, and a lot of papers all scattered about. The man in question arose from behind a stack of these, and upon seeing his guest, bowed in a very respectful way.
"Ah, lady Aeducan. To what do we owe this sudden visit?"
"Actually, I was here on less official business than usual, Uncle. You see..."
And so, a conversation that lasted a half hour took place. lots of excited chatter, nervous contemplation, and writers leaving out juicy details to irritate readers. it was a pretty active talk, both sides having much to debate over, until finally, Ayano broke the ice on the circle the debate was going in.
"Just go for it! In fact, do it here in the courtyard- I would just need a phone number and I could personally invite her on the Master's behalf."
"Where is Master anyway?"
"Right now? Africa. You know our Tasky."
"Yeah..." Arceia sighed- Master Task was the short way of using his full title- Master Victor Amaterasu of the house of Task. Some fancypants rich guys club in Europe that he funds some kind of computer service for. The Amaterasu fortune was partially due to the economic differences and money transferring, but also because of Master Task- His computer software was used in Apple products and it gave them a huge jump.
"It's okay. I'm sure he'll come back to see you for this. Nobody would want to miss out." spoke Ike.
"Drey too?"
"Drey too."
And then there's Drey of the Mirroheart family- The Amaterasu family considers him a very close friend, and he actually funded Arceia's tuition entirely for Astraea Hill himself. The more you looked at her family, the more you had to wonder why she wasn't already some kind of CEO or something.
"I'm nervous though. This will be the first time my adopted family is meeting the Allistairs."
"It'll be fine. Now then, that number~?" Ayaon really wanted to see this.
It was about an hour until Chiyo arrived, confused and anxious. The Amaterasu family contacted her on 'urgent business' and up until now, she probably had no idea who they were other than Naomi and the departed Ryoko.
Wasn't she surprised to be lead into the back courtyard to see Arceia, standing alone beside a nice little man-made stream atop a fairly small bridge. There was a gazebo back there too, but that was too cliche, even for me to write out.
"Sorry for the abrupt call. But they offered me the yard for a while and I just couldn't say no."
This earned a confused expression, to which Arceia simply giggled and shook her head.
"I don't expect you to know what's going on. That's why I'm here to explain."
And then, there were Ike and Ayano, hanging out on a bench outside. Just barely within earshot. Chiyo seemed to stiffen up, as if thinking something bad was going to happen. Admittedly, with the past they had, it was a pretty good assumption. And this might be the only time it was wrong.
"From the moment we met, you've been my life- I became ambitious, trying to prove myself to you. I took on so much responsibility in order to prove to myself that I could protect you as well as show you how I really felt. Those years ago, at the cherry tree... My entire life changed that day."
She took in a deep breath and approached the girl, slowly at first, before all but stopping right in front of her. Without warning, she grabbed the girl's hand, and kissed her. There was no delay between that and the shifting of both their hands, as Arceia moved about exactly as she planned. All of this took so much courage, and so much planning... It was impressive that she hadn't fainted yet, especially looking back on their history.
Finally, when she pulled away, she released Chiyo's hand, and on it was an almost perfectly made for her diamond ring. In the short time it took to process what was going on, Arceia had turned a beaming red. The other item she wanted to buy today was a total memory by now. By the way, that wasn't anything important at all- just a misdirection to leave you in suspense of this. She was going out for a new band for her collar after this is all.
"Today, it'll all change again. I don't know how you'll take this, but... This is a pretty Western way of doing things."
"Will you marry me, Chiyo?"
