Name: Suzume Nana (Fraises!)
Gender: Female.
Age: 15 years old.
Year in school: Fourth Year
School Attending: St. Miator's Girl's Academy
Partner: None
Room mate: Miaka Minigawa
Appearance: Suzume is tall, in the same way an ancient pine is tall; spindly, imposing and prone to swaying in the wind, but much too firmly rooted in the earth to topple for anything short of a hurricane. Her sharp eyes are like birds of prey perched in that pine, constantly, inquisitively straining to get as far up as possible, to see as much as they can.
Even disregarding any arboreal qualities, she very much seems to belong in the forest or on a sports field.
Her nails are kept short and clean, and she wears only the bare minimum of makeup to look presentable.
Hair color: A dark, natural red.
Hair style: Ponytail.
Eye color: Green
Height: 5'6''
Dress: Miator uniform, with hiking boots. Outside of school and off campus, she tends to wear jeans, T-shirts, and a baseball cap.
Glasses: No.
Personality: Suzume enjoys hiking, fishing, and baseball. She was raised to value physical activity and admittedly is a bit of a tomboy. In grade school she insisted on joining the boy's baseball team, as there was no girl's team. She generally acts friendly and welcoming towards others but dislikes fawning or too much attention, preferring several close friends to admiration.
Occasionally Suzume is known to have a bit of a hot temper. She can be quick to anger and raise her voice, but can be easily dissuaded or distracted from the topic of her ire, and never stays angry long.
Suzume can be passionate about her causes to a fault, especially against drunk driving, and tends to annoy others with her lectures. On the outside, she seems rather simple.
On the inside, she actively grieves for her late brother despite the time that has passed, and works hard in her academic and extra-curricular studies so she doesn't let her family down.
View of the Etoiles: Suzume thinks that the Etoile system is a little bit over-hyped, but admires the dynamic between the two.
View of other schools: Suzume isn't very competitive with the other schools, actively attempting to make friends with members of the schools, except when it comes to sports.
History: Suzume was born to a simple middle-class family with two older brothers. Because her mother was often busy working two jobs and her father at the office to support them, she turned to her brothers for support. She conformed to their ways, developing an interest in sports and activity, and was generally accepted as "one of the guys". When she was 11, her oldest brother, who was 18, was killed in a car crash.
This effected her whole family and forced them to move. Her older brother went straight into the work force, but because he wanted his sister to have a proper education, he helps his parents fund Suzume's education at Astarea and eventually University when she graduates.

Summer had been harrowing for Suzume. During her break, she usually took a week or so to visit her family at the very end of the break. Despite loving them deeply, Suzume always had her differences, especially after the death of her brother. Her family often showed active interest in her ongoing studies at the prestigious Astarea academies, however, little of what happened there they were able to relate to. Despite the close relationships between the girls, Suzume was unable to express these things for fear of her parent's disapproval.
So she avoided the topic beyond showing off her grades and worked hard to spend time with her brother before having to go back. Returning had been a relief each time for the last four years - she found, despite the gaudy girly uniforms which bunched up in the desks and distracted her, that Astarea had become a place she belonged. While she hadn't made very many friends yet, she greatly enjoyed the day-to-day activities of the school and the way the other girls interacted with each other. Maybe this year, she thought, she'd find the confidence to go out and make some friends, perhaps break away from her studies a little bit.
As she dressed herself in the petticoat, then the black dress, and fixed her hair into her trademark ponytail, she glanced at herself in the boudoir. Every year she looked into this mirror and realized she'd changed, blossoming into a young woman. Her parents actively reminded her of how tall she had become, and her brother constantly teased her about growing into a nine-foot tall giantess. She often acted indignant, but she admitted to herself deep inside that she enjoyed these small little exchanges.
She turned to the door to her bedroom and picked up the over-stuffed suitcase that she had packed. The rest of her things were still in her dorm room at Astarea, only bringing home the clothing she needed. Her mother's voice rang out from the stairs and she opened her door, dragging herself downstairs.
"Here, have some toast before we get into the car," the older woman quipped, handing Suzume a plate, which she immediately began to pile food onto. "I swear, you're getting so tall, but you're so thin! Suzume, you know what I told you about eating right. What does this Astarea feed you?"
"They feed me just fine, mum! You're being paranoid." The red-headed girl responded indignantly, her thin lips curving into a frown. Nevertheless, she accepted the fork her mother handed her and shoveled some of the scrambled egg into her mouth. One thing she had to admit was that when she was at Astarea, she missed her mother's cooking, but when she was home, she missed the food she was served at school.
A horn honked, and she turned to the door, scooping the last of the bacon into her mouth and retrieving her suitcase. Her mother ushered her and her brother out of the door and towards the small, second-hand minivan. Suzume had nicknamed it "Debbie". It was a clunker, but she'd always been the family vehicle. She slid the doors open, deposited her suitcase under the seat, and then slid into the van to the far side, behind the driver's seat. Her brother followed her and shut the door. As her parents got in and revved the engine, music began to play. It was a seven hour drive to school...but the trip always went by too fast.
