Name: Katsumi Yamada(fraise)
Gender: Female.
Age: 15
Year in school: fourth
School Attending: St. Miator Girls' Academy
Partner: none
Room mate: Eli Kokoro
Appearance:
Katsumi has been called attractive many times, though she has either accepted it with disbelief from close friends or with a flinch when it comes from boys. Her eyes are an intense amber in color; black in darker lighting and liquid orange-gold in the sun. They are a beautiful almond shape with thick, dark lashes. They hold a permanent sense of sadness, and age. Her father was half-Japanese, half-English, and her mother full Japanese, so she definitely has a bit of a Caucasian look to her, though the Japanese part is definitely dominant. It is seen in her small nose, and full, red, lips. Her hair is black, but not jet black; it has the tendency to look chocolate brown in the right lighting. It is long, thick, shiny and straight, and hangs down to her waist. (Now, her hair has been cut, and is just above shoulder length, in a more boyish cut.) She is petite, standing at just under 5”4, and muscular from lots of running. Her bust size is average, and her hips flair out a little, giving her a nice, but average, hour-glass figure. No extreme curves or anything like that; not enough fat has accumulated.
Hair color: Brown-black
Hair style: Either worn in one, thick braid parted down the middle or straight down. In both styles, she has bangs. (now, she has short hair; the bangs still remain, but it is above her shoulders.)
Eye color: Amber
Height: A little under 5”4.
Dress: Miator dress
glasses: No
Personality: For the most part, Katsumi comes off as solitary. Most of the comments she make are either neutral or snide, unless she is among friends. Some may even think her snobbish and unfriendly for her antisocial behavior. This is true, but only to a point. She is not averse to making friends, and will reach out from time to time, but for the most part, she is only concerned about herself.
Among only girls, she is actually a little more comfortable. She will start conversations, and let her guard down, but only a little. It takes a special person to open her up completely, but once that happens, she will become very protective of that person, to the point of being obsessive and/or romantic. Many friendships have been ruined this way for her; she has become so close to a person that she wants them as a partner, but they do not feel the same way.
Those who are close to her have found that once the mysterious, depressed element of her has been penetrated, she can be a fierce, kind, joyful and loyal friend. She always has that sarcastic edge to her, however, no matter what a good mood she is in.
(Upon her return from her stepfather's clutches, once more, she has carried with her a new sense of confidence and strength. She is now less reserved, and her drive and determination, once buried under fear, is now active once again. She has a desire to get what she wants, and is willing to work for it.)
History: Born into a middle-class family, Katsumi had a relatively happy childhood until the age of twelve years. Her beloved father passed away when she was twelve in an automobile collision. The blow of this tragedy absolutely crippled her mother emotionally, who got a job as a waitress and spent all of her free time at home, mourning.
Determined that her life return to as normal as possible without her father, Katsumi signed her lovely mother up for a dating site, and showed her a particularly promising match. The two met up, and Katsumi’s mother was happier than Katsumi had ever seen her when she started dating. However, once Katsumi’s mother married, things went steadily downhill.
To the casual observer into Katsumi’s family, it would appear that they were very happy and that the new stepfather treated them well. And indeed, this was partially true, at least when it came to Keiko, Katsumi’s mother. She was treated very well. But Katsumi’s new stepfather was abusive. From the age of thirteen and a half onwards, she was subjected to horrific treatment from him. He would touch her inappropriately, and basically lived to quash her self-esteem.
When Keiko noticed that Katsumi was becoming jumpier, and more and more nervous, she suggested that perhaps Katsumi would like a change of schools; perhaps something there was upsetting her. This was in part true; even the schoolboys terrified her now. Katsumi begged and pleaded to attend Miator; the fact that no men were there was very appealing to her.
Eventually, her mother agreed, and said that she could start there as a fourth year. Reluctantly, her stepfather agreed as well, but only because it would look suspicious if there were any true objections. Her relief at coming to such a safe haven was nearly crushing, and she looked forward to leaving home and heading off to school for each and every day during the summer. All she really wanted was security, and Miator could provide that.
(After being forced to leave Miator by her controlling stepfather, Katsumi's life was once again plunged into what nightmares are made of. Seperated from her new friends, and forced to return home without annoucement of her departure, she feared that she would never see St. Miator again. However, once hair cut- and a lot more confidence- later, she returned to St. Miator a changed woman, with a new drive and focus: to find her true love, and become the Étoile. And she plans to let nothing stand in her way, not even her former (sort-of) flame, Azriella, who she feels no longer suits her need for a partner.)
Feelings on the Etoiles: Honestly, Katsumi has not been at the school long enough to have developed much of an opinion of them. However, she has developed an intense sense of respect for their achievements and accomplishments, especially now that she has decided to follow their path.
Feelings on School Rivalry: Once again, Katsumi has not been a part of the school long enough to feel any sort of animosity to any of the other schools. However, she does have an intense pride in Miator, and will certainly argue that it's the best to anyone who will listen.

Katsumi sat on the bed, her knees hugged against her body. She was all alone in the house with him, and she was terrified. Her mind raced, as she thought about how he would punish her. She knew that her leaving infuriated him; that he’d have to actually pay for a more frequent dose of what had been free since he’d married into the family. He wouldn’t leave marks, of course; he never did. Then mother would know, and she would leave him.
Sometimes, Katsumi wanted to tell her mother so badly, but they needed the money. Thank God his mother and his wife had supported her going to Miator, or he wouldn’t have given her the money necessary to leave. She would have been left to hide and cry into her pillow at night, with a little prayer that her mother would never notice the tear-soaked pillow case when it came time for the laundry.
“Hey you! Don’t you want a little present before you leave?”
His voice was as rough as his hands, and she shuddered violently, biting back a nasty retort. Her nails dug into the soft flesh of her palms, and her teeth bit into her tongue with the effort. It would only make things worse.
“I’m busy packing, so no thank you.”
She’d hoped he would let it drop, but he continued in softer tones.
“You know, I’ll miss you while you’re gone. Don’t you think you’ll miss me?”
“No.” She replied flatly, barely keeping the edge out of her voice. Encouraging him would only make things worse.
And, suddenly, thank God, she could hear her mother’s footsteps leading up to the house. Quickly, her horrible, horrible, stepfather shut his vulgar mouth, and she could breathe easy again.
She was leaving for St. Miator on a high note.
