Name: Kanon Tachibana
Age: 15
Year in School: Fourth Year
School Attending: St. Spica Girl's Insitute
Appearance:
Height: 5'6''
Dress: Casual and careless, when she isn't forced to wear the school uniform.
Glasses: No
Personality: On the outside, Kanon is a carefree and funny person, looking at the world as nothing more than something to have fun with and make fun of. Taking nothing seriously, or so it seems, she plays with the cards she's dealt, all while keeping her stress low. She thinks it's funny that people can take themselves seriously, and seems to live to enjoy watching the high and mighty trip and fall when they don't pay attention to what they think is beneath them, but was really right in front of them.
Underneath the surface, Kanon thinks she is pathetic for still not being over the loss of her mother and brother, yet pretending that she is. When left by herself with nothing to do, her thoughts will often drift back to the accident, and she'll drink until her thoughts stumble onto something else. Since she acts her cheerful self whether drunk or not, it can be hard to tell the difference. She has yet to be caught doing this, since she's not the type to willingly let others worry about anything, let alone her.
Though she often jokes inappropriately at others' expense, she doesn't consider herself good relationship material. She'll often tell friends looking for a relationship upgrade that they're better off with someone else. She has yet to be pursued by someone who can convince her otherwise.
View of the Etoiles: Kanon sees the whole Etoile thing as kind of dumb--too much popularity and responsibility for girls their age to handle without letting it go to their heads, she thinks.
View of other Schools: Kanon respects St. Lulim's laid-back attitude, and she's alright with St Miator, as long as they're not being annoying just because she's from St. Spica.
History: Kanon grew up in a wealthy family, though precisely no one would guess that from the way she holds herself. Aside from family outings, she would often dress herself so as to look the opposite. On one such outing, however, Kanon lost her mother and brother in a tragic auto accident. For a while, her mind was completely broken, and by the end, she was convincing herself that life itself was a play of pure irony that couldn't be taken seriously.
Her father resorted to alcoholism, and for a long time, Kanon couldn't face him, leaving the maids to tend to him between fits of rage and grief. In a brief moment of almost-sobriety that Mr. Tachibana probably doesn't remember, Kanon convinced her father to send her to St. Spica. She needed to get away from him and learn how to support herself independently.
Sample Post:
Kanon took a final glance around her once again empty room, squinting as her eyes passed the orange light of sunset outside her window. She sighed, finally finished sloppily stuffing her belongings back into her bags. She could have just asked one of the maids to do it for her, since they could pack much better and faster than she. She wasn't in any hurry, however. Not because she was hesitant to leave her home again, though, or that she wasn't looking forward to seeing her classmates. Working at her own pace, the timing had been perfect. The accident of that night nearly three years ago had shattered her in many ways, but her love of late drives through the town at dark was left intact. Of all things. Kanon laughed loudly, even though she was entirely alone in her room, and the observation wasn't altogether too funny. That laugh had a way of dragging her back from her melancholy. Did it have the same effect on her friends? She shrugged. They'd never told her to stop before.
Kanon turned to leave her room, when something caught her eye. The dent in the wall next to her door. She grinned and snickered at the mark she'd left on this stuffy old place. Once more, for old time's sake. Gripping the doorknob tightly, she flung her door open as carelessly as she had when she was just a child.
"I'm going out!!" she called loudly down the empty hallways.
"Fine," the voice of her grumpy old man echoed after her halfheartedly.
Kanon snickered, skittering down the hall to the sitting room.
"C'mon, even your call girls get more sincere farewells than that," she quipped teasingly with her wide grin.
He cursed heavily at her with a playful chortle, earning another snicker from his daughter. Kanon gave him a one-armed hug, like she were posing for a photo. Certainly, this was a rare moment. They had an inexcusably odd parent/child relationship, to be sure, but it was not an unpleasant one.
"Be seein' ya next summer."
"Yeah, if this old bugger is still worth it by then."
"Bleah," she responded disapprovingly, patting his back as she turned to leave.
That had gone better than she'd hoped for yesterday. A little more skip in her step now that she'd be leaving on a higher note, she quickly made her way to the door to leave.
