Name: Kazuko Takahashi
Age: 14
Year in School: Third Year
School Attending: St. Lulim Girls School
Appearance:
Height: 163 cm. (64 in.)
Dress: Beyond the school uniform, Kazuko prefers dressing heavily and in dark colors. She tends not to like bright colors or patterns that stand out.
Glasses: Yes
Personality: Because of her quiet stare, most first impressions are of someone who is unfriendly and unsociable, and obsessed with studying. Generally, however, she is just slow to warm up to others, and rather than being judgmental, she is the unassuming type. One might say she tends to "study" people, so that's one partially correct assumption.
Kazuko is somewhat inept at small talk, and it shows rather glaringly. On the other hand, she seems comfortable talking seriously about anything. Sometimes it's unclear if it's because she has some natural tendency toward showing interest in socially awkward topics, or if she just has the same kind of response to any topic, as if she were just glad someone was talking to her. Even so, this only applies with smaller groups of people. She dislikes crowds, and deeply fears being the center of attention.
Despite all appearances, she's not a very pushy or stubborn person, and is easily dragged or pressured into doing things. However, Kazuko resists deepening relationships, almost as if it were an involuntary response. She has some socio-psychological issues about the topic, mostly around the apparent notion that anyone she's become too close to, she's eventually grown to hate, an emotion that doesn't show itself in her very often, and she's a bit scared of. She's confused about her own feelings, but she knows it's her own problem.
View of the Etoiles: Kazuko is not easily excited by popularity contests, nor easily swayed one way or the other. She would still judge the Etoiles based on their own merits rather than their popularity. If one of her friends became an Etoile, she wouldn't treat them any differently. If her crush became an Etoile, however, she might act more uncharacteristically clingy than is usual for her. She wouldn't go for the title of Etoile unless pressured into doing it with someone she likes.
View of other Schools: Kazuko is not very competitive by nature, and doesn't participate in any heated competition or arguments with the students from other schools. Because of this attitude, she gets along best with the students of St. Lulim, but doesn't dislike the students from other schools.
History: (Oh, does she ever have one. I'd rather not spoil everything right away, though, so since this is optional, I'll leave it blank for now and fill it in over time.)
Sample Post:
The walk to Astraea Hill was as quiet as any for the Takahashi family. As much as Kazuko would have preferred to go alone, her parents were used to her habitual silence, so at least there was that, she supposed. The walk was almost mechanical by now, as it was a familiar exercise, only it was to a new school. Her parents would often drag her out somewhere, in hopes that she would... Kazuko wasn't sure what they wanted from her, now that she thought about it. All she knew was she had to patiently endure, putting one foot in front of the other, only stopping to wipe the sweat from her glasses. It wasn't as bad as it usually was for her during summer heat, but maybe she could get used to wearing her hair short like this. How out of shape she was, she thought bitterly. Her parents went really over the top, making her walk with them. She resists the urge to ask if they're close yet, since she didn't want to start a conversation. Once they got their momentum, they'd never let up.
After what seemed like an eternity, there was someone to greet her parents, and her, by natural extension. Kazuko didn't pay much attention to her, it was all a very mechanical exercise by now. "Hello, how are you? My, aren't you cute. I'm sure you'll make many great friends here at ____." All of it so very rehearsed, so... false. Faceless. Just like the man in the white coat, he was also faceless. A very slight smile appeared on Kazuko's face in spite of herself. Indeed, she wouldn't have to see the man in the white coat anymore. Unfortunately, she quickly realized, her small smile seemed to have been taken as silent approval for whatever the other faceless woman was saying, and it spurred a renewed vigor in her parents' fast-paced conversation with her.
Kazuko had always wondered why people heaped unwarranted praise on her. She supposed it was just out of want for saying something to fill the silence that other people found so unsettling. Why were people so mechanical? People would even greet each other and ask how they were doing, with no actual intent of further conversation. At best, it was a pretense for whatever question they had to ask, or a favor they wanted. Would she ever meet someone who wasn't so faceless and mechanical?
Kazuko eventually became vaguely aware that the faceless woman was staring at her, expecting her to say something. She nodded, figuring it's a safe bet. It turned out to be right, since the woman was now walking away, looking back and expecting to be followed.
Oh well, she thought. Maybe this school wouldn't be so bad. At the very least, it was four years she wouldn't have to deal with her parents' incessant attempts to "fix" her. No more irritating encounters with whatever faceless and transparent boy they've decided she might be interested in. How she hated them... but she hated her parents even more. She hated the dresses she was forced to wear, the ways she was forced to act. She knew why they were doing it, and she hated them for it. Her sour feelings must have been apparent on her face, because her faceless tour guide decided to remain mostly quiet.
Faceless. Mechanical. That was the world she lived in. She just had to patiently endure, putting one foot in front of the other.
